A third and I might be interested.

I think back on how many times Gary Myers and Paul Schwartz fired Tom Coughlin because he lost the team.

Sometimes I think the only one who focus' on what's important is Patty Traina. She had some excellent questions at Daboll's presser.

This is what the NY media does. Finally the ship is pointing in the right direction and with nothing else to report, they continue to pick at it and it takes on a life of its own.

Good for Wink for standing up for himself as a Veteran Coach but good for Daboll for having the balls to call a spade a spade. The wheels were coming off the Defensive and the last two weeks they went from xxxx Show to Magic Show.

I like that Daboll believes in accountability and not just talks the talk. If it's behind closed doors, that's where it should be handled. That said, Daboll needs to recognize that maybe taking a chapter out of the Parcells book is prudent. You can't treat or speak to every man the same way. You find out what works and adjust on the way. I think he gets that as it's evident in how he mentors Tommy and after being frustrated, he needed to show he was visibly upset with Daniel Jones.

I have to say, whatever transpired between him and Wink, set the Defense back on track.

The Pass Protection has improved even though Tommy is getting sacked. He's holding the ball longer and then doesn't throw it away. He's had some decent pockets.

The difference from my perspective between DJ and Tommy is that DJ is a sad sack with no performance or sideline personality. When DJ screws up or it's a bad play, he sits alone on the bench sulking. He doesn't have a short memory. I can only imagine what goes on in the huddle. Does that mean the players try harder for Tommy? No. It's Tommy's confidence and enthusiasm that becomes contagious and they play better because of it. A lot of this game and btw, our own success is about confidence and attitude.

Separation is only measured if a ball is caught.

Yet they didn't discipline the player. How stupid.

Quote from: Bob In PA on November 30, 2023, 08:06:21 AMking: It's a good point, but somebody has to do that job. His predecessor was 40th overall (2nd round) (Shep).

IMO you get your players anywhere you can and be grateful they're not busts.  Robinson is not a bust.

When Saquon is gone (or they stop over-using him) I think you'll see that Robinson can do a lot of other stuff too. He's a good piece to the puzzle. That's why they picked him (versatility) so to that extent I agree strongly with the point... I think they're trying to give him a greater variety but choosing between him and Saquon is usually an easy choice because Saquon is the better pass-blocker.

Bob
He's not being utilized properly by the QB and sometimes the route. He should be the Wes Welker or the Beasley. Tommy has passed on him for the deeper routes. He's the guy that get you the third down conversion when the Defense sends the house. He can be used in the Slot or the Z. He can be used coming out of the backfield. As long as he's off the Line and not pressed he will get open. He's the perfect Receiver for Tyrod Taylor.

Quote from: Philosophers on November 29, 2023, 03:46:48 PMI think you have to consider how the WR is used as well.  If a WR is used mostly as a short yardage WR less time to get separation.  Maybe that's why WanDale is where he is.
And how often targeted and made catches for a body of work. Aiyuk is a beast and the Giants didn't have to face him TY. He was out.

One factor is the competition faced. To see how much it may have been a factor, rack the Defensive pass rush by team for each QB.
