I don't believe I have seen the two movies that I missed, Dodgeball I know I have never seen and the Skeleton Key sounds familiar but I simply do not recall anything about it.

It's funny, I usually come on and do the word a bit later in the day and when I see a few comments already on this thread, I am usually prepared for a sort of 'harder' word. Today I saw nothing and can see why, today's word, for myself, anyway, was easy. got it in 3.

I was thumbing thru my channel list this past weekend and saw a title that sort of sounded titillating, 'The Secrets of Playboy' on A / E

https://people.com/crime/hugh-hefner-alleged-rape-audrey-huskey-secrets-of-playboy/

WOW a series about Playboy, that should be interesting. I sort of got started, in the middle of this 12 part series, but was able to DVR the episodes I missed and now I am just about finished. It is so far from what I thought this would be about, but on watching, I really got hooked.

You might say I am from the Playboy generation, from the 70's to the '90's they were the 'it' thing. Everyone wanted to be Hugh Hefner and live his lifestyle. After watching this series, you will certainly come away with an entirely different view of him and his 'empire'. Just so many girls who have come out and told stories of rape, cultism and so much more. This may not be for everyone, but I am finding it fascinating. Don't look for Playboy centerfolds and nake orgies on the show. They are talked about, but it is more an easy R-rated series as this is still A/E and can only show so much.

Again, if you ever were a fan of Playboy, and Hefner in particular, this will be a very interesting series.

Hey Lenn, have you tried the series Poldark?   The movie is aweful, but there is a 2 season series that is excellent. Follows a British soldier after the revolution War going home finding his family fortune in ruins.  He rebuilds and eventually  marries his serving wench he brings in to the upper society. The time piece, copper mine work, ocean shots, love triangle, protagonist antagonist plot are all outstanding.

Greg

We HAVE watched Poldark when the pandemic really first got started. But, if memory holds I think there were 5 seasons of it. It was originally a PBS series.

We watched it all the way thru and my wife really loved it, myself, let's say I enjoyed it. I never saw some much bad luck befall one person as Poldark, no matter how hard he tried, but again, we did enjoy it.

I am still watching, but it's more out of habit than anything else.  With all the cast turnover, I can't even keep track of all the people.

On a side note, I can't help but note a similarity between Walking Dead and Breaking Bad.   I noticed in Breaking Bad, that there weren't many people who survived meeting Walter White, and in Walking Dead, there are not many communities/groups or leaders of said peoples that survive meeting our band of favorite survivors.

Breaking Bad is possibly the best TV show ever made. Any similarity between TWD and BB is lost somewhere in TV land. Where you may see something that can relate to both shows, that is where the similarity ends.

The 2 spin off series disappointed,  but I'm still following the walking dead. I heard they may do a movie with Rick and Machone?  Its time to wrap up soon though in my view.  At some point, the struggles need to bear fruit

When Fear started it really sucked, big time. Then they dramatically got rid of every character from the opening 2 years, except Stark, brought in a whole new set of characters and some from TWD, and it really got interesting. Like Ed, I enjoyed Fear a lot more than TWD. BUT, when they put Morgan in a death situation as a season-ending cliffhanger and never really explained how in hell he got out of it, I was really put off. From then on, I was hesitant to get involved again, and the more I watched the more I got confused and really started to dislike the entire show. I just stopped watching and really don't miss it at all.

I watched the first episode of the other spin-off and that was it. It seemed to be for the 'junior' set and they were just trying to capitalize on this zombie craze even though their efforts should have went to making TWD a better show.

Drats! Hoping to hear from readers.

BTW, books are way better than movies...LOL

Sorry Ric, I'm like Jim. Seriously, i haven't read a book in maybe 10 years. I really used to enjoy reading, now I'm a movie and TV guy.

So who else besides myself and Ed are watching this now. Myself, I am watching in spurts as I simply cannot watch one episode a week and thenh try and remember what happened last, or just get into this series again.

With one more episode left in the mid-season, group let me say a few things.

As I said last season, I felt the show had gained new inspiration, or whatever you want to call it. I felt the interactions with Negan and Maggie were excellent and gave the show new life. Whenever they were on screen together, the tension was there and it reminded me of the way I used to feel about the show when Negan was introduced.

Personally, I am not into these sort of Star War police but the addition of several characters from this new civilization 'the Commonwealth' has added a nice touch. I look bad though and think of all the years our group traversed the lands looking for anyone who can offer them a place to stay, with other humans trying to survive, and then, out of the blue, here is the Commonwealth with 50000 people residing there. It was things like this, some more minor than others, but they sort of piled up and really turned me off to this show as I felt the writing really got stupid and they felt the audience will gulp up anything they threw at them. Just not so. The writing has gotten better, but they're still are several moments when you just sit there and scratch your head.
Have they said where all this gas has come from to run the cars etc?
I still feel Daryle and Carol are lost in these episodes and Maggie and Negan and several others have really stepped up and taken over the show. GOSH, Eugene has been great this last season, where has this been for the past 5 years.

Anyway, if others are watching, I would like to know how they feel, but I am enjoying it a lot more than I did for the past couple of years.

PBS just finished a short series by Ken Burns on Benjamin Franklin. It was 4 hours over 2 days and we finished it last night. I am a sucker for Historical shows, especially by Burns and about the Revolutionary War period, so this was right up my alley.

Overall, i found it OK but a bit dry if anyone gets my drift. Usually, Burn's specials are just that special and I said to my wife as we were watching, that this was sort of boring in several parts. In fact, I dozed off a couple of times and had to rewind to watch it again.

I guess I thought I knew all there was to know about Franklin, but in reality, I didn't know very much at all.

I did learn a good deal about him and was very surprised about his private or family life.

If this is your thing, give it a watch, the man is facinating.

Amber Waves--I know a movie with the character Amber Waves, but I'm sure this ain't the one. It was more of a Debbie Does Dallas type

Effie Trinket

Not to bad--the rest I really have no clue

My usual 4 or 5 today. Yes, the words do seem a lot more tricky. I guess they have to keep people interested. If it were easy all the time, people would get bored.

Wasn't sure anyone would get Pete Hogwallop or Gracie Hart, Well done!!
Here are a couple of hints of my own to hopefully help out.

#1 - Lead character in a big movie with a surprise ending\\ The Sixth Sense

#3 - This is the one I really didn't think too many folks would know, but it's a favorite of mine.
Takes place in Louisiana and deals with a young nurse attending to an elderly stroke victim on his plantation. Patient's wife is very secretive and a believer in Hoodoo... I know I never saw this movie, as it is a sort of subject that I usually try and avoid.

The Great Race--Sure. Why was I thinking a woman--Leslie

#9 - Jim provided the answer - THE GREAT RACE!

I got what I could, I don't know the rest...

Once again, excellent job Lou.

So let me help you out a bit

#3---Take away the last 2 names and start with just the first name. Huge, huge movie

#8-- definitely a hard one as most won't know her name from the movie. most WILL remember what part of her anatomy was shown

#10--Once again, the last name will probably throw many people off, so think just the first anme and what movie had that name in it.
