Quote from: DaveBrown74 on December 12, 2023, 07:49:34 PMI have been a bit hard on Wan'Dale. I admit I was less than thrilled with the pick when it was made, and I haven't been overly happy with the constant injuries.

He is beginning to make me reconsider my position. I have not fully changed my mind yet though.

I have high hopes for him, he has the tools to be an electric player. His injury last year slowed his progress, but it's now looking like he's fully recovered or close to it. Hopefully we'll see many more games like he had last night. He's fun to watch when he's in space.

Quote from: LennG on December 11, 2023, 07:21:16 PMLet's just say I am not a fan of David Lynch on anything.
Recently I watched one of his better movies, Mulholland Drive. I never saw it and it was rated with 5 stars. I don't know how I made it thru to the end without turning it off. I won't go int o details, but I thought it was one of the stupidest movies I had seen in quite a while.

Suffice to say Len, don't go out of your way to watch the movie "Eraserhead."   =))

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on December 11, 2023, 07:27:55 AMGood stuff. The Brits do a great job with crime drama series and thriller series. Some really excellent stuff.

The Fall, Broad Church, Luther, and Happy Valley are just a few examples. There are many other good ones too.

The four you mentioned were really great shows. I'm sure I mentioned all of them earlier in this thread and each are highly recommended for anyone here who hasn't yet seen them. Luther put Idris Elba on the map for me as I'd never heard of him prior to watching that series.

I've been on a British series on Netflix kick lately. I finished watching "Bodies" a crime/Sci-Fi show, a few weeks ago, then went on to "The Stranger," a mystery/drama show, and I've now started watching "Stay Close," another mystery/thriller. Each of the three series are only 8 episodes and have been good but not great.

The Front Porch / Any homebrewers here?
December 07, 2023, 12:51:26 PM
During the bye week down time I figured I'd ask if there are any other homebrewers that hang here? I started the hobby about 5 years ago and I quite enjoy it, especially now that I'm retired. I typically brew 5 gallon batches which yield around 40 pints each. I got tired of bottling all that beer so I built a "keezer." A keezer is a chest freezer converted to a refrigerated unit that can hold and serve from corny kegs. Mine can hold 4 kegs. Here's some pics of my recent beers.

Scottish Ale

Pale Ale

Coconut Stout

Brewing with homegrown hops

Very strange show. I also liked it and wish it didn't end do soon.

Zombie mom. Comedy/black comedy. Husband played by Timothy Olyphant was hysterical.

Harder than I thought. At first I wasn't sure I could come up with 20. But as I got into it I found it very hard to decide, as Bob Seger sang, "What to leave in, what to leave out..."

In no particular order:
Twilight Zone
The Avengers (Emma Peel years)
The Bob Newhart Show
All in the Family
Taxi
Cheers
Breaking Bad
Better Call Saul
Seinfeld
NYPD Blues
Hill Street Blues
Tonight Show With Johnny Carson
Late Night With David Letterman
Mission Impossible
Mary Tyler Moore
Mannix
The Odd Couple
60 Minutes
The X-Files
Monty Python's Flying Circus

Ask me tomorrow and I may just have a different answer.

Ed, re: your 8, with Leo now gone and not re-signing either Ward, A'shawn or Nunez-Roches, and with DJ Davidson having trouble staying healthy plus not showing a lot when he is, you're only returning Dex, DJ, and Riley to the DLine. Aside from Dex all I see is a lot of Q's and holes to fill via the draft and FA, because none of those returning or the listed FA's are showing much. The DLine is going to require a ton of resources - FA $$ and/or draft capital. I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you just pointing out that JS and Dabbs have quite a conundrum to deal with along the DLine, as you know.

Quote from: Jolly Blue Giant on November 24, 2023, 07:40:45 PMMan, Steve, you don't know what you're missing. If you like dark (very dark) comedy, nothing tops Fargo - and unlike the suggested order, start with season one if you give it a shot

I will for sure. Do you know if I can stream the first few seasons on FX?

The Front Porch / Re: Do you like your mattress?
November 24, 2023, 04:10:20 PM
Earlier this year we bought a new Beautyrest (Simmons), cal king mattress online from Costco. It's a standard mattress, no topper or other bells and whistles. I think it's firm, or at least medium firm. Either way I no longer wake up with back aches. We spun it 180 degrees after a few months, and will continue to do so every few months. So far so good, we like it. Costco offers free delivery and haul away of the old one if that's a concern.

A shark can swim faster than a human.
A human can run faster than a shark.

So in a triathalon, it comes down to which is a better cyclist.

The Giants may not have great talent along the line, (excluding Thomas of course), but no O-Line should be this bad if they have competent coaching.

Great news all around, Len. Congratulations to all!!  <:-P
