Everyone needs to be a skinny Scandinavian cyclist.

Quote from: BluesCruz on December 21, 2023, 11:27:54 AMDexter needs to get his BMI down

Carrying all that non muscule weight is causing his injuries to some extent

Did you ever notice other teams like Seattle, Philly, Dallas etc dont have overweight linemen?  There is a corelation

Everyone needs to get their BMI down, since it's a BS metric.

Quote from: uconnjack8 on December 21, 2023, 10:40:09 AMPatriots beat the Rams in the Super Bowl 13-3.  They ran their way through the playoffs averaging over 150 yards/game.  In 3 playoff games Brady through 2 TDs and 3 INTs.

The defense and running game carried the team.

Terrell Davis pretty much willed the Broncos to a couple titles, but you're going to get the "different era" argument.

Quote from: kingm56 on December 21, 2023, 10:11:56 AMThe question is more fundamental.  What power running team has threated to win a SB post 2012/13 rule changes, which explicitly made it easier to pass?  The game is fundamentally different than it was decade ago; RBs no longer garner significant salaries as a byproduct of teams no longer building around power running games. That era of football is gone and probably isn't coming back, at least not until the NFL alters its rules.

"Power running" is an ambiguous term that means different things to different critics. While the days of the I formation and the lead blocking fullback may indeed be behind us, I still subscribe to the balanced attack and the play action pass. It would also be nice to know that you can punch it in from the 2 yard line or on 3rd and short the majority of the time, at least to point where defenses have to pay it respect.

Quote from: StompYouOT on December 20, 2023, 07:01:12 PMJust shows to me an antiquated model with inferior drafting and development. Kudos to teams who do it right. We should look to them

Well I think we are trying to do exactly that with the appointment of Joe Schoen as gm.

I watched this yesterday morning. I usually watch Patty's show, Baddog, and occasionally the Entertainah.

Good take.

I believe the Giants have a deeply systemic problem at every level with respect to developing the offensive line. Scouting and identifying talent in every round of the draft & free agency, developing talent, scheme, coaching...all things the Giants are far behind compared to other teams. This remains true even in this era where offensive line play is collectively weak.

Quote from: uconnjack8 on December 20, 2023, 02:33:38 PMI hate to think it, but I think this is a very much a "get right" game for Philly who is on a 3 game slide.

Ain't gonna be pretty.

We got the favor returned on the hit on Bellinger. Most folks will swear make up calls are a myth but I've seen it too often to be 100% certain.

Unfortunately it would seem he has emotional maturity problems too.  The "burger flipper" and "from out of the womb" comments were very defensive and very telling with respect to accountability.

Any backup quarterback on this team will get ample opportunities to take reps with the ones. Lucky them.

I'm not.

Quote from: brownelvis54 on December 17, 2023, 03:28:06 PMIt's pissing me off, too. Why are we so afraid to throw down field? Are we scared? They'll be an interception what do we have to lose?
The coverage has been tight. There hasn't been much time to throw deep and on the few occasions when there were opportunities the receivers couldn't catch the ball. This team can't maintain pass protection long enough to execute a basic three step drop without the threat of a running attack.

Quote from: Woody on December 17, 2023, 03:10:37 PMLine sucks and no body is open.  Play calling needs to change to quick throws in a hurry....throw to Barkley etc.  still not big fan of Kafka.    He doesn't make gametime adjustments...lives and dies with original game plan

The few times we had opportunities the receivers were allergic to the football. And yes, Kafka is nothing special.
