Big Blue Huddle / Re: How Bad Are The Giants?

The Giants have scored the least amount of points and have given up more points than any other team in the League. That's bad.

I wonder how McK feels about being the poster boy for cluster #ucks. They just keep piling on.

Quote from: uconnjack8 on November 15, 2023, 10:04:07 AMCorrect, the question was about OC's though.  I think even the one's not calling plays sit in the booth.  Forgot which OC it was that moved out of the booth on to the field.  Was listening to the radio and Jim Miller and Pat Kirwan were discussing that they don't mind that move but the you NEED someone you can trust in that booth.  Not sure exactly what goes other than a birdseye view, but they had a very strong opinion about needing someone in that booth that was qualified.
well, my point was that at least 15 play callers are on the field.

They need a few Quality Control and someone to watch the analytics and clock management, etc. Upstairs.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on November 15, 2023, 09:08:56 AMI trust them, I was just saying in this hypothetical were we have #1 and #2 I'm taking both Qbs and having another team pay me a ransom post draft to get one of them.
:hmm:

Carl makes sense but the scene highlighted is extraordinary.

Quote from: uconnjack8 on November 15, 2023, 08:15:55 AMI think it's pretty much all of them that call plays from upstairs.
Going into the season there were 15 Head Coaches calling the plays.

I don't think BB forgot how to coach. Brady had some excellent teams around him in NE. He had an excellent Tampa team around him too.

No doubt that NE team needs a QB and an infusion of good players.

Many great teams are created from a few years of failure. Look at the Niners and Eagles, Lions, and Jags. They have solid Franchise QBs and built or are building a good team around them.

Teams like Dallas and Pittsburgh that have competitive teams almost every year, hang on to coaching staffs, and draft well but come up short.

Elite QBs are one of the keys to success but the teams won't be great if not supported. Buffalo and KC are not the teams they were two years ago.

This year is a classic example of parity in the league. The winningest teams are Eagles, Chiefs, Ravens and Lions. None of them are elite teams.  Then there are 8 good teams hovering around .600 and the rest of the 20 are struggling or they are just not good enough to compete with the rest. Some of those 20 are not bad teams. The competition has gotten overall better which actually hurts each other. Miami, Minn, Jags, Texans, Browns, Steelers, Bengals, Dallas and Seahawks are good enough to beat any team on any given day.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on November 15, 2023, 08:09:10 AMAgreed. 100%. In most realistic scenarios, only one of the two QBs will be elite in the pros. And god forbid you draft two elite QBs you're in an incredible position as a franchise with the leverage you'd have.

I can't believe you both would do that. The Giants would have a QB controversy for three years. One might bust so that's a wasted pick and burning two more firsts and a second.

The trade up is an interesting scenario and the trade partner would have to be a team not needing a QB and at the beginning stages of a rebuild. Could be AZ.

So what would be better for the Giants? Trade up for Maye and MHJ or trade down and get two Oline an edge and maybe a Daniels falls in your lap?

Quote from: Philosophers on November 14, 2023, 03:51:28 PMI don't think the teams are connecting the dots on ideal height/weight and see many of these guys dominating in college at their weight so assume they can do same in NFL.

I have been blown away by the size difference of NFL edges who make contact with Neal and with better technique can either move him or get past him.  If he can't get into proper position at the right time and avoid things like that "lean" that you mentioned, he will continue to get eaten up.  I also wonder as I have not paid enough attention but how well does he do anticipating the count and moving as soon as the ball is hiked.  Another thing maybe he is failing at.
Bobby Skinner does an excellent oline analysis and they do a question and answer podcast. Maybe check out his take on Neal and pose the question.
