The Front Porch / Re: What are we watching these days?
November 12, 2023, 11:31:32 AM
I wrapped up the 4 part series last night. While "Encounters" didn't blow me away with anything new I did still enjoy it. What was interesting to me was, unlike a Betty and Barney type story, each episode focused on an event or series of events that were witnessed by dozens, sometimes hundreds, of people.
Additional props for the use of the underappreciated 70's Klaatu song, "Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft" during the third episode. (Klaatu was also the name of alien in the '50s sci-fi classic movie, "The Day the Earth Stood Still."

Len, I'm sorry you wound up so sick, but glad you were at least able to enjoy the first half of your vacation. Take care of yourself, and I hope you are back to feeling 100% in short order.

Quote from: Ed Vette on November 10, 2023, 07:31:35 AMI apparently started watching it and left. Tried again and didn't hold my interest.
OK, well my bad then. From your previous posts on the subject I assumed you had more than a passing interest in the UFO/UAP phenomenon.

Quote from: Ed Vette on November 10, 2023, 09:30:41 AMOn a scale of one to ten with ten being the highest, please rank DJ, TT, TD, and Barkley.

I would rank them:
Jones 7
Taylor 7
Tommy 5
Barkley 3

Yes, I agree. Jones is definitely the tallest.

Quote from: squibber on November 08, 2023, 10:37:02 AMDid anyone see Encounters on Netflix? It's a four part documentary about people who witnessed UFO's. Interesting stuff.
Squibber, I've now watched the first two episodes, thanks to you for putting on my radar. It seems to be well produced and it does hold my interest, even though it doesn't cover any new ground formulaically. But then again I wouldn't expect it to. I think @Ed Vette would enjoy this.

Ric, speaking of "Whiter Shade of Pale." Have you heard/seen this version? It's awesome.

Quote from: MightyGiants on November 06, 2023, 01:55:50 PMI had heard prior to the game that Jones was still dealing with pain. I was wondering if that pain was impacting his performance (or if it was simply rust or a bad game).
Whether pain or rust it was maddening to see NY come out with three straight pass plays to start the game against a Raiders team that's near the bottom of the league in run defense. That's just inexcusable.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Need Help with NFL+ Premium

I use NFL+ Premium but I don't access my account info from my phone, only my laptop, (I never log out of the site), though I watch the games on my TV via an AppleTV app. Fortunately I've never had an issue or reason to engage support.

I'd actually forgotten he was still part of this team. A real life Dr. Jack Griffin.

Plus McKinney. He's been largely quiet this year, bordering on invisible, at least to my eyes. But he's played at a high level in the past, and is still young. I'm not sure if this year they're asking him to do the work that keeps him out of the spotlight, or if possibly playing alongside Julian Love made him a better player.

Great. So now he's got two barking hammies?

Still, this begs the question, if not him then who?

Quote from: beaugestus on October 28, 2023, 09:35:28 AMSounds a lot like the debates we've been having here.
Although not nearly as silly.

I watched the first of an eight part British series, Bodies, on Netflix this evening. Interesting premise, but there's too many questions so far. Might possibly have something to do with time travel. We'll see.
