Quote from: sxdxca38 on March 23, 2024, 11:31:42 AMTwo players come to mind.

A) Andrew Thomas
B) Daniel Jones

Those are two huge contracts at premium positions.

waller second highest paid TE in the league as well

we need an alpha receiver. if hes a better WR prospect than any of the qb prospects at 6, do it. Mike evans has been elite his entire career with for the most part, a revolving door of blah qbs. larry fitzgerald also only had a smaller chunk of solid qb play. Im not saying he's going to turn jones into a star, but we have NOTHING at receiver. Slayton is what he is, a solid #3, wandale is a slot guy, hyatt  is a decent deep threat. none of them are close to an alpha receiver. odunze would come in and be THAT guy day 1. very good size, very good speed, elite ball/jump skills. Taking mccarthy at 6 is basically taking jones all over again. yes we need qb help. but you dont pass on a guy this good, especially when its truly a position of need.

Quote from: madbadger on March 20, 2024, 02:31:23 PMIt shouldn't be a 15 yard penalty it should be an ejection and a one game suspension. We've seen to many dudes lose an entire season to that nonsense. For the first 90 years of the game players made tackles from behind without risking a compound fracture to the ball carrier. It's lazy and IMHO mean spirited. Knowing the injury risk to you opponent and doing it anyways shows a complete lack of respect for the opponent and the game itself.

i was so against this until i saw the example of, i believe it was simmons hip dropping geno smith last year. you could see how after he was pulling him down he WHIPPED his body under geno's, instead of just pulling him down. it was absolutely intentional, and should absolutely be banned. rough tackles and freak things happen, but theres no room in the game for things like this.

Burns is a massive upgrade over this guy. he rarely made game changing plays.

You need depth. and special teamers. yeah hes not great but he's a body and guy thats familiar with the team. at least its just a 1 year deal.
#126
Disagree. kayvon wont get paid until the jones contract is easily disregarded. he just finished his second year. hes not an all pro yet. at best, its 2 years until he gets a new deal.

Quote from: AYM on March 12, 2024, 06:28:00 AMTommy DeVito. No, seriously.

He wasn't hopeless for a rookie QB and the hope is with an off-season of development, he can be the veteran backup.

there were points last year he looked like the best rookie qb in the league not named stroud. if he was a high 1st round pick there would have been plenty of faith going forward. i think plenty of other teams would like to snatch him from us.

Quote from: Painter on March 11, 2024, 03:54:07 PMAs good as Saquon may have on been on the Giants, he really never made them a winning team. That's the harsh reality when it came to whether it made sense to match the Eagles $38-$47 million/$26 million guaranteed.

It can be a Championship-gaining move for the Eagles as long as Saquon stays healthy. But far from so for the Giants who don't have their QB of the future, anything like an adequate Oline, or a top-notch X-receiver. Like it not, this is still very much a rebuild which might have just as good a chance for a pleasant surprise as the recent decade's more usual shitty ones.

Cheers!

this is the reality. with all his talent, it never made us a winner. guys like him put teams like the eagles over the top. a loaded team full of talent already that just need that missing piece.

Quote from: EliWasrobbed on March 03, 2024, 01:52:07 AMtyrod already proved he can make an awful oline look decent compared to horrible tommy and jones. it's a QB issue not a Oline issue

this is an awful take. so he made a few big throws downfield and all was forgotten? sorry.. but they were just as bad with taylor. he was just a littel gutsier and made quicker decisions. the oline was still rotten with him.

Quote from: madbadger on March 05, 2024, 11:01:51 AMThey aren't going to stay with Jones past this year. In his short time in the NFL he has suffered multiple concussions, a broken collarbone, multiple sprained ankles, two significant neck injuries, one that resulted in surgery and a torn ACL. There is no way they want to move forward with a guy who can't make it through a full season without suffering a serious injury. His contract ensures he'll be on the roster this year but he was given his golden parachute by Mara and the writing is on the wall.

i think them being "done" with him, has more to do with what you just mentioned than anything else.

Quote from: katkavage on March 05, 2024, 11:11:06 AMMany good receivers in this draft. And they have Hiatt who could develop. Adzune is very good but QB is a much greater need.

rather take a bonafide stud at WR at 6 than a question mark qb who will most likely fail.

Could be a smokescreen to get another team to trade up and snag a qb. i still see most mocks saying we are taking a receiver whether it be nabers or odunze. i see jj going late 1st round... wouldnt be opposed to trading back up for him. but we need instant playmaker at 6. not a guy who's going to sit most or all of this year and who's position has a very high failure rate. we need to absolutely smash this pick.
#133
absolutely. the halftime show slows things down enough. game should be at 4 oclock.
#134
It does, but it also shows 3 or 4 pro bowl or close to that level guys in the bottom 10 as well. granted they have elite receivers. maybe theres more to that than meets the eye.
