Quote from: DaveBrown74 on November 12, 2023, 11:09:08 AMYes, sometimes he did. So do most QBs on bad teams. In the Dallas loss?
Quote from: DaveBrown74 on November 12, 2023, 11:00:11 AMI think it is also important not to give him too much credit if he racks up some cheap stats in the late 3rd and 4th quarter if/when they're down by three or four scores. That happened in the Vegas game, and those stats really don't mean that much. What matters is how he looks when the game is still at least somewhat in question. If he's awful during that period but then puts together some cheap late yards and a cheap TD when the Giants have zero shot, it's important to parse that data appropriately. That's almost as irrelevant as preseason play IMO.Well, now you're setting the bar and inserting parameters. Did DJ put up garbage time points?
Quote from: Bob In PA on November 12, 2023, 09:09:32 AMEd: So I see you finally decided to refer to the elephant in the room, eh? (Yes, I know you've been hinting at it forever). So do you think that the Giants would have broken Lamar Jackson?
I wonder how many games we've lost because of that (over my lifetime).
Ever since Eldridge Dickey (AFL) and Marlin Briscoe (NFL) then obviously Warren Moon, I've sat pissed off in the corner. But I stand by my statement (somewhere, maybe not in this thread) that even the Philistines could not ignore the success of Lamar Jackson. Second round?

Quote from: Bob In PA on November 12, 2023, 09:02:13 AMEd: I will reluctantly agree with that view (if warranted) but only after the off-season and next draft.Bob, you do realize you're deeply in the minority here, right? He's got as much a chance of being the Giants QB in 2025 as Marianne Williamson has in the Oval Office.
Right now Schoen/Daboll POSSIBLY can't lose anything more (in terms of credibility) than they've already lost.
For one thing the medical could change REQUIRING them to take a high first-round QB. For another, even if that doesn't happen they still could justify taking (for example) a Harrison, Jr., or even a player on defense with the high 1st-rounder (or trade down). Too many possibilities, even if I were to agree with you 100 percent as of today.

Quote from: Bob In PA on November 12, 2023, 08:56:07 AMRich: So you finally realized it's better to just re-post viewpoints than to write your own and come under DIRECT attack?Leave Rich alone, Bob. He's still licking his wounds.
Quote from: Bob In PA on November 12, 2023, 08:53:13 AMEd: Fair enough, but now throw in the owners. Does your answer change? BobThe Owners don't know QBs. They will weigh their options based on the intel provided by the Scouting Reports and his GM/Coaching Staff. Blond hair and Blue eyes a plus.
Quote from: Bob In PA on November 12, 2023, 08:49:33 AMEd: Yes, unless they draft a quarterback AND he's taken in the high 1st-round AND doctors okay Jones to play. He's not good enough to be the Franchise QB but his career isn't over yet. It's just over as a NYG past 2024. Imo
So you're asking two questions at once. First, is he "good enough" to lead a good team?
Second, is his career basically "over" (as happened with the sad case of RB David Wilson) due to injury?

Quote from: Bob In PA on November 12, 2023, 08:21:15 AMAny member who answers "yes" MUST ALSO believe our management team and/or head coach are also busts. They gave him a two year prove it deal while the team was rebuilding. Schoen protected the team and he clearly had reservations. And I do believe that Mara injected his input, otherwise he may not have even been signed.
Otherwise, a "yes" vote makes no sense since THEY signed the bust to a multi-year contract just this year.
So I'll ask anyone who sees this to also address THAT issue.
