Didn't Stroud get hurt in that game?  I wasn't watching it but I thought I saw that somewhere on the interwebs that he was out for some of that game.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on December 11, 2023, 12:32:07 PMWould like to see us do an evolving big board thread or something like that just to give everyone an idea of the top prospects.

Daniels was a day 3 prospect coming into this season so I don't think his grade jumps that much and I think most mocks will still have him going outside the top 10 as QB3.

I'd be stunned if he falls out of the top 10.  I'd be surprised if he fell out of the top 5.  If anthony richardson can go #4 overall with his college production, Daniels has to go in the top 5 too.  I know he's on the smaller side but it certainly doesn't seem to have slowed him down much this season.  He can easily put on some muscle and if he went to the Giants for example wouldn't have to start Day 1 anyway since Jones is immovable.  I'd be over the moon if the Giants could get him whether it's at 4 or 5 or if they had to make a trade into one of those spots to do it.

Quote from: MightyGiants on December 11, 2023, 11:15:01 AMMahomes (and some of his teammates) certainly are showing a lack of class.  Imagine how entitled one must feel to complain about a blatant penalty being called (Toney was clearly and very offside).

Not a good look.  But in Mahomes' meager defense:  Kadarius Toney will do that to you.

As long as Mahomes has a breath in his lungs they will remain a contender. However, this will be the first time they likely have to go on the road on their way to the super bowl which is a new wrinkle of adversity they're gonna have to deal with.  I don't know if the team as a whole is good enough to win a Super Bowl this year, especially with the Dolphins over there standing in their way, but I don't think they're far off.  You can expect their first round pick to be a WR next year and maybe even their 2nd round pick.  If they can get just reasonable play from that position next year they'll be right back into that 12-13 win range again.

Shesty has not been on his game much this year.  Flashes but certainly not consistent.  Quick has been on top of his game basically the entire season.  No doubt that if the playoffs started today they'd have a serious decision to make and if they went with Shesty he'd be on a seriously short leash.

Having said that, Quick is 37 as mentioned.  It's reasonable to worry about him starting to break down a bit as the season goes along if they over work him.  The Bruins are a fairly decent team and their goalies operate at almost a 50/50 split.  Something like that might be in order until Shesty returns to form. I'm sure he'll get there but he's not there yet.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on December 10, 2023, 08:51:33 PM5th is looking like a tough spot to be in. Could easily see the first four picks being Williams, Maye, Harrison Jr, and Daniels.

It's certainly possible.  I do think if Williams/Maye/Harrison go 1-2-3 the Giants would have to seriously consider doing whatever they had to do in order to get to 4 for Daniels provided the team with the pick doesn't want him for themselves.  For now we just need to let the chips fall where they will and hope they end up in a spot where they can grab one of those 3 QBs.

Seems to be in line with most of us around here have seen too.  The backups are playing better, though not spectacularly better, simply because they are willing to throw downfield and Jones is not.  Hyatt is going to be a star next season provided they get this kid a QB who will look his direction.  At least Devito is willing to just toss one up there and say "screw it Hyatt is down there somewhere". Because that kid is good enough to come down with those more often than not.  They just have to give him the chance.

Doesn't seem like something he would say publicly even if he was thinking it privately.  But I can understand that perspective.  From the player's point of view they are risking severe injury every time they put the pads on and if the team isn't interested in winning games why should they take that risk?

At the same time, losing games today will help win games tomorrow so guys like Dexter who are signed long term already should understand that.  Does he really want another year of Daniel Jones and the pu pu platter at QB or would he perhaps prefer NFL level talent at that position next season?

Right now he might say he doesn't care about next season but when next season comes around he's gonna be plenty happy watching Daniels run around making plays Jones can only dream of.  And to be honest, he can play up that hamstring injury the rest of the season if he wants to.  No sense in risking something more serious in meaningless games.  For everybody that's going to be here in 2024 the focus should be on 2024 because I honestly don't think the Giants are as far away from contention as it may have seemed at times this season.

It depends on HOW terrible that QB is.  Like even Bryce Young deserves a 2nd season to try and show improvement.  Unless he's Josh Rosen level's of inept I would say they get 2 years to develop their guy. Knowing that if this QB flops he's gone along with the GM and Coach since that was their pick.

I would say that if they manage to win 6 games, the QB play would likely have been better than what Jones was doing at the start of this year so they'd probably earn another season to figure it out.

The incredible start to the season allows them to have a stinker or two here and there and maintain their status in the division.  Let's not string together too many of those in a row though.  Also, no Kakko, no Chytil and for a large portion of that game no Goodrow.  Doesn't excuse some of the sheer stupidity around their own net last night but perhaps getting those guys back will provide a boost back to the level of play they were showing earlier in the season.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on December 05, 2023, 02:20:48 PMFully agreed Spider. Not to mention he was probably the last guy who should have insulted the fans, but he managed to do that too on top of everything else.

Disastrous pick by Schoen to this point, and I'm a Schoen supporter.

Can't hit on all of them.  And at the time it was the no brainer pick to make.  There was just no indication that Neal would turn out to be THIS bad without any sort of improvement from year 1 to year 2.  Maybe he can slide into guard in the future.  Tough to blame Schoen for that one in real time but clearly the wrong decision in hindsight.

I think they did the right thing. It was the difficult thing but the correct one for me. FSU absolutely is the most deserving but as I understand the criteria it's the best 4 teams not the most deserving. Hell Georgia also has a pretty real gripe in this too. Alabama almost losing to Auburn hurts but they did just take down the #1 team all year and both of them would be favored by double digits over FSU. It sucks for FSU that an injury derails their season like that but we're not talking about an injured punter here. It's the best player on their team at the most important position. If Penix had blown out his knee in the win over Oregon they wouldn't be in this thing either.

They keep finding ways to win. And because of that you never really feel like they're out of a game until the clock reads zeros.

Down 2-0 after the first. Just keep chipping away. It's fun to watch.

I prefer Nix to Penix. I like his overall game better and coupled with the major injury red flags with Penix I lean Nix. Although for me hes in the tier below the big 3 of Williams Maye and Daniels. I'd be annoyed if they took him in the top 10 but would likely talk myself into it by training camp. Hopefully it doesn't come to that though and they just take Daniels.

Quote from: Doc16LT56 on December 01, 2023, 10:03:01 AMAgree. My question right now is whether Jayden Daniels elevates himself enough so that this becomes a big-3 QB draft rather than a big-2. I keep hearing great things about Daniels but not clear on how things will ultimately shake out.

For me it is.  I've watched a lot of him recently and I think he's played himself into that tier.  Maybe other would need to see more and that's totally fair but I think he's right there.
