Got to be a QB. And I trust that whatever QB they choose, they are confident enough to feel he can be a franchise QB. Much much easier to find a receiver than a QB.

An older rookie who won't play as long as Cousins is under contract and healthy. Don't see it when they have other needs where there are players that can help them compete immediately.
Quote from: spiderblue43 on April 24, 2024, 09:39:07 AMStill think Maye is going to the Pats. Schoen has to get an elite wr threat, which is both smart and sensible.Don't know what the Pats think. I don't see Denver giving up so many picks to get to three. Minnesota really is ideal for Penix. He would thrive there. Maye needs time to learn and get better. He fits better with the Giants or Pat who will not win next year. The Vikings can compete next year but not if they take a QB who needs to grow. McCarthy as well. I think either McCarthy or Maye are good fits for both the Giants and Pats.
Maye means trading up..losing our #2 and next year's #1 at least. That's a big swing. And there no reason to believe that couldn't be bested by another team.
Quote from: Jclayton92 on April 23, 2024, 04:03:44 PMI love Odunze as a prospect, he's my Wr 1 but he would be utterly wasted here with the Qb room we have currently. He certainly wouldn't thrive until the team finds a QB. But that could be said of all the receivers.

Great article on why going Qb wouldn't be a bad move from an analyst that was in Buffalo for the Daboll-Allen start.
Quote from: MightyGiants on April 22, 2024, 01:20:09 PMThe odd part is that, in theory, Penix would have laid out his case when he was meeting with the teams.I'm sure he did. This is a social media world, we just live in it. Get used to it.
Quote from: MightyGiants on April 22, 2024, 12:47:28 PMFunny, I assumed his PR firm/draft team wrote the letter for himNothing wrong with that. That's common these days.
Quote from: MightyGiants on April 22, 2024, 11:41:56 AMI seriously doubt this will move the needle, but at least it's originalLove the guy. My gut is he will shine in the NFL if put in the right situation.

Quote from: MightyGiants on April 22, 2024, 11:56:15 AMAs a surprise, or as the guy you thought the Giants would draft?Surprise. He was an unknown. And no one thought the Giants would draft him. And they were right, they shouldn't have.
Quote from: Ed Vette on April 21, 2024, 04:03:48 PMT minus 4.It's significance won't be felt for at least two years. Whatever direction they take won't effect next season. They will struggle either way. If they pick a QB or trade up and that QB fails, it will hurt beyond 2025. If they pass on a QB and one who they could have gambled to get, someone past the first two, and that someone turns out to be a star, while the Giants languish in QB hell for years, this draft also will be looked at as an abysmal failure. Picking or not picking one of the three WR prospects will not effect the team nearly as much as the QB decision. Receivers just don't have close to the impact a QB has. But time will tell starting in 2025.
I can't believe you guys don't feel the significance and the excite level of this draft. Not since the 2018 draft. The impact? In 2018 the Giants still had Eli. In 2024, they are riding on Daniel Jones.
