Quote from: madbadger on November 19, 2023, 07:17:56 PMI doubt it happened the way it is portrayed in the tweet. I do think that DeVito has given himself a chance to be on a roster next year.
Wesley Steinberg is a phony account whose sole purpose is to troll and otherwise make shiiii up.

I think he has a shot at being a solid back-up

Quote from: Doc16LT56 on November 19, 2023, 09:57:14 AMPlease don't do this. We all understood what he was saying. As a "draft prospect" Haskins did not grade out as high as Williams and Maye. That's not a controversial statement and has nothing to do with being respectful of the dead.
Normally I wouldn't. However he referred to Mr. Haskins in the present tense and I found that offensive.

I apologize to anyone who is offended by my reply.

Quote from: Dgoodmantrublu on November 18, 2023, 05:04:21 PMHaskins is no where in the class of anyone at the top of this QB group. Please be serious.
Haskins is dead, and passed at a very early age. So please, a modicum of respect.

No one knows whether or not he would've turned it around with Tomlin's guidance, and we never will.

RIP YOUNG MR HASKINS

I honestly believe that the only two who need to go are Bobby Johnson and McGaughey.

When I read about issues with a Safety (previously highly touted), OL (especially Neal, but others as well), and no GO TO GUY in the WR group; I cannot help but wonder where in the world the COACHING IS!!

Of all organized sports, the one MOST impacted by coaching is Football.

Is this the right staff? If Daboll is permitted to stay, will they hold him accountable to making changes to the staff?

Is this about the coordinators? Or the position coaches?

I see the talent out there, I don't see it used properly and in some cases simply undeveloped.

Remember our conversations on the board in the spring?

Many of us commented on how many players we signed / re-signed who had a history of injuries.

I can't help but to consider a correlation between the injuries endured and the history of those on the roster.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: So when Eli says stick with DJ
November 17, 2023, 12:11:56 PM
Regarding Eli's statement on DJ: It's called empathy my Giants friends.

I'm not saying Eli doesn't believe what he's saying about DJ, and if anyone in here wants to claim more knowledge of the position than Eli, to that I say enjoy your fantasy.

OTOH, Eli spent his final 6 seasons as a Giant, taking some of the worst beatings I've ever seen a player endure, in large part due to a poor OL, and to a lesser degree, some receivers who were inconsistent at best.

I believe he's reliving this experience watching DJ and while he may well be correct on his evaluation of DJ, it could also be his evaluation of the circumstance which may be coloring his opinion of DJ.

If I'm Schoen and Daboll, I strongly consider Eli's point of view, while hedging my bet by acquiring a starting QB for next year and beyond.

Imagine we draft that QB and he's got everything you need to win a SB , AND DJ steps up and shows he's beyond 2022 form for the 1st 6 weeks of the 2024 season. We could parlay that into more assets to build the roster and still have "that guy" at QB.

Quote from: TDToomer on November 15, 2023, 05:19:36 PMAre we seriously blaming Barkley and the running game for the ineptude of the passing game? Barkley is top 3 in yards per game among RBS who have played at least 5 games.
If you're referring to my post, I never mentioned Barkley. I was referring to the lines inability to consistently run block.

I also believe that the mere fact that Bobby Johnson hasn't a mention for his inability to develop what looks like a pretty talented group overall is mystifying.

I realize the OL is the majority of the dysfunction of the offense.

However, of the 3 starters (DJ, Tyrod, and TD) the one who reads progressions the fastest is Tyrod and he's about average at best.

So as far as the passing game, I believe the QB's to be as culpable as the OL...and yes (to Bobs point) the OL's inability to consistently run block contributes to the lack of respect of the running game and the offense in general.

It's a total breakdown which has caused them to be unproductive and dysfunctional; not to mention unwatchable.

Quote from: MightyGiants on November 14, 2023, 01:14:46 PMIf the Giants want to fix their O-line once and for all, they will find a really good (not just adequate) offensive line coach.  Teams with great O-line coaches not only have good lines, but they are also the teams that tend to draft and develop O-line talent well.  They will usually have a few quality O-linemen that were day two or day three picks.
100% Rich.

We're supposed to have top quality talent evaluators and in fact they've hit on many players in different positions over the past 2 drafts.

So how is Neal such a GIGANTIC miss?!

My answer is the OL Coach as I'm sure 1) position coaches evaluation of draft talent is strongly considered and 2) if they're drafted that high there needs to be a business plan showing an ROI for the team...who is heavily involved in building the plan? The position coach.

We need a much better OL Coach. If we did, we may be able to function with the talent on the roster....especially if we find a QB with pocket awareness and playmaking ability.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Bob Papa on the Mara dynamics
November 14, 2023, 04:31:30 PM
We can discuss semantics until we're Giants Blue in the face, but the common denominator through the cavalcade of HC'S & GM'S since Tommy Coughlin was scapegoated in 2015 are the Maras.

We haven't been (forget winning) a respectable franchise since.

Insomuch as he rarely kept the defense on the sideline to rest, yes?
