Honestly this ended up being a fun game all things considered. We made Philly break a sweat far earlier than I predicted. Team made plays on both sides of the ball and can hold their heads higher than the usual Philly matchups

A franchise QB changes everything. Better coaching wouldn't hurt. Taylor missed Waller, could have been a W

I would put in Taylor but still somewhat care about the draft.

Maybe within 2-3 years Philly will actually break a sweat beating us. This team is a disgrace and I can barely remember being good once

Just shows to me an antiquated model with inferior drafting and development. Kudos to teams who do it right. We should look to them

In today's NFL everyone is a QB away from being good.  If they really like one of those three I would make a trade up in necessary.  The Bills don't regret doing it for Allen and it worked out with Eli.  The real issue is if the front office is sure there's a franchise guy there.

If not then BPA or trade back for more picks.  I agree we need help across the board, but it all starts under center.  Wasting more high picks on OL isn't gonna help us.

I feel similar Brooklyn Dave.  I know it's not wise to wrap money up in a RB....at his age and with mid production but we are better with him.  He is a Leader for us and if Devito is the QB next year I feel way better if Saquon is on the field.

I just think with the Jones contract it's going to be tough.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on December 12, 2023, 02:20:13 PMThe problem is that a Jake Delhomme or Ryan Fitzpatrick doesn't win you super bowls in the modern NFL. You have to have a top 10 guy and even if you do it's still super hard. To even be in the conversation though you need Elite.

I don't disagree although Jake nearly did it. Hell who won with the Eagles?  Foles??  You never know.  We have to make a stand here since we're out on Williams and Maye.  I never thought this roster was as bad as it looked.  I really thought Jones was dragging us down and now at least we're competitive.

I'm actually ....looking forward to watching games again.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on December 12, 2023, 09:54:21 AMYou are so lost in the moment that you are not realizing that we won last night because of the defense. We are on a 3 game winning streak because of the defense, and the only thing Devito did was not mess it up.

We need elite Qb play so that we can actually start winning football games because of the Qb not despite them.

Great story, lots of fun, but this is basically the football version Lin-Sanity.

I see it differently. Yeah the defense is our strength but this guy makes plays to score touchdowns and makes plays to close games. He is a much better passer and decision maker than Jones. Plus the team responds to him. Personally I find him very fun to cheer for and love watching The Giants again. Look at the crowd enjoying it.

I doubt he's the next Brady, that's wishful thinking most likely. But what about the next Jake Delhomme or Ryan Fitzpatrick?? That could b3 a good thing. Forget Williams and Maye at this point. Just build around him for next year and see where it goes

Jones is bad.  That's it.  It stinks we're stuck with him another year but hopefully things work out in the long run.

Put him on the cover of Madden. But draft a QB anyway

Daniel Jones has some compromising pictures or information on Eli. No other explanation.

I'm fine not drafting a QB next spring because I don't know if I love the options, but Jones?? Fuggahdaboutit

Why doesn't anyone talk about Penix??  Has a great arm.  If we do fall a bit that might be ok since maybe we can snag Penix or McCarthy with our second pick, even if it means trading back up.  Could get a great piece on either line with the first pick then.

I don't want any part of Williams, never take a quarterback from USC.  Daniels is exciting but heard he's in an oversimplified offense??  Idk.  I still think we end up picking somewhere decent looking ahead at our schedule.  Honestly the teams ahead of us are worse than us and should be drafting there anyway.

We're stuck with him, but I don't think he will be ready to play to start the season honestly.  After that I can't see him coming in if we're competitive without him.  To be fair Jones would have won the last 2 weeks as well, but it's well chronicled we will be down 30-0 against good teams and he won't make a throw.  If Devito can keep defenses honest and give us a shot against better teams no way does the team want him pulled for Jones.

I don't think the presser was fluff to build trade value though, can't imagine anyone would want him.

I understand it either way, but it's better if we lose.  If there is a "12 year QB" in the next draft I want him and don't want to slide too far.  Losing tomorrow helps us there.

I get the "play to win" sentiment but I will regret winning tomorrow unless Devito is really the answer.  I am pulling for him and want the players to win, but know it's in the franchise's best interests to lose.

However I always want to beat Philly.  Everything I just said goes out the window for them.

Devito will show us what he can do the rest of this year. He can actually make the throws and while the line needs to be better, they were never the reason this offense was so useless.

I see Devito as a good backup, but he might play us out of a franchise QB in the draft. So I picked starter because we're probably going to end up picking a lineman on either side of the ball with out first pick
