While Schoen and the Giants front office consider trading up, I hope they consider this fact. A +12 turnover ratio is hard to duplicate, meaning the team was actually a lot worse than the W/L record would indicate.

I don't think we need to bash Barkley. I'd rather just ignore the entire Barkley era and just say it never happened. Nothing of note happened, it's a blank period in Giants history best ignored.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: There is a new 26

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on March 15, 2024, 02:52:50 PMI guess the question to be asking here is, would the Giants have treated this situation any differently if Barkley had signed wit, say, the Chargers or Texans? I'm not sure they would have, myself.

I think Singletary would get 26 anyway, because that's always been his number, but as far as Barkley goes, going to the Eagles makes him the bad guy now. When we look back, we'll see he never did anything of note here, and whether it was his fault or the fault of his awful OL. Even if this team continues to be poor, we won't be pining for the days Barkley was here, much like we aren't pining for the days of Beckham being here.

He's a footnote in this franchise's history. Another "what could have been".

Big Blue Huddle / NGT - Keenan Allen traded to Bears

Why this is huge for the Giants:

With Arizona trading Rondale Moore, and San Diego losing both WRs, WR is a huge need for both of them, increasing the likelihood that at least one of those big 4 QBs will be there at #6.

And if it's not a QB that Schoen or Daboll like, someone likely will, meaning we could flip the pick.

Quote from: Jolly Blue Giant on March 14, 2024, 04:43:38 PMHe's probably worthless since hooking up with Kim Kardashian...probably having a hard time focusing on football right now

I had to google that. Yeah, he's done. Ravens making the right call there.

Quote from: Brooklyn Dave on March 12, 2024, 03:31:43 AMWE need a proven backup QB , Ryan Tanneyhill would be a good fit in my opinion . Who else is out there ? Any names please

Tommy DeVito. No, seriously.

He wasn't hopeless for a rookie QB and the hope is with an off-season of development, he can be the veteran backup.

Quote from: EliWasrobbed on March 11, 2024, 11:09:39 PMi know plenty sir, no need to be a dick.

defensively after the Burns move we are much better.. BUT assuming we don't draft a QB, this will be potentially the worst offense of 21st century football even with our 2 oline additions. Save this post!

If we fix the offensive line, it will be a better offense even if Daniel Jones is still the QB.

Quote from: Gman329 on March 02, 2024, 08:46:24 AMIt's hard to have any faith that we can draft a decent OL.  Other than Thomas, we seem to suck at picking talent.  Peart, Lemieux, Ezeudu and Neal (7th overall, no less!) come to mind.  And now I'm worried about Schmitz!  To say he "struggled" is an understatement.  Somehow, he hasn't been put under the same microscope as Neal but he's just as big a concern.

That said....fck it, draft Alt at 6, try Neal inside, hope Schmitz improves and for the love of God, sign a few competent Free Agent OLs, guys with tape, guys who you KNOW can play.  Then hope this new OL coach knows wtf he's doing.

To make it worse, it's rumored our brain trust didn't even pick Thomas - Thomas was picked because Jason Garrett lobbied hard for him.

Quote from: sxdxca38 on February 29, 2024, 09:20:47 AMThis may be of some interest to those who value PFF grades, but they had the Giants offensive line ranked 30th worst in the NFL for 2023.

Only the Titans and Jets had a worse offensive line, link down below for those who may be interested.

Link for O line

Watching the games, no, no line was worse than ours. By a country mile.

Quote from: uconnjack8 on February 28, 2024, 09:22:23 AMNot sure how long of a leash I would give anyone, but I think if Daboll doesn't turn some things around this year he is gone.  I don't think that means he has to win the division, but another feckless season, on offense in particular and I think he will be out.

EDIT:  Just wanted to add, that even if they draft a QB, I don't think Daboll has more than this year to get things moving in the right direction.  The biggest thing I don't want to happen is draft a QB this year, fire the HC at the end of the year and start over with a new offense with a QB in his 2nd year.  It rarely works out well when teams do that (Goff is the only I can remember that got better in year 2 in that scenario).

We have an example right here where Shurmur was sacked after Jones' rookie year. We need to get the HC, GM, and QB on the same schedule.

Like I've been saying, I wouldn't be surprised if the Giants don't have him on their board at all. Doesn't seem like the type Mara would want as the face of the franchise.

Quote from: EliWasrobbed on February 18, 2024, 01:32:38 AMif you think Watson is terrible... what does that make Daniel Jones?

I don't know how many years he would screw with our cap, but getting a 2nd AND an upgrade at QB? I'm in.

Also terrible. If you put 2023 Watson on last year's Giants, I don't think he'd be any more productive than Jones was.

Quote from: y_so_blu on February 11, 2024, 11:16:39 PMSo after seeing the Niners fall short in the big game yet again, is anyone still on board with Tiki's "build everywhere but at QB" argument? Just checking.

I don't understand this take. The 49ers lost in overtime and only went to overtime due to a missed PAT. Clearly the roster as constructed was championship-caliber. It wasn't like they didn't belong there and were run off the field, exposed as frauds.

I think if the top 5 started to shake out that way, there would be a mad rush to trade ahead of us to secure McCarthy, which means out of those 5 would end up at our pick.
#45
Watson is a terrible QB at this point, so at least on field, I'm not sure swapping Jones for him gets us anywhere.

Then there's the contract and the off field stuff.

If this trade were to really go down, I'd want at least 2 #1 picks from Cleveland along with Watson for Jones. That's how bad the other stuff is.
