Quote from: Ed Vette on March 14, 2024, 09:28:28 PMGood point. With three QB's there was no continuity and they probably didn't have plays designed for him.
other than tyrod having a full camp I don't see Tommy or DJ doing that with bellinger. People keep saying we need a WR or something else but we need to trade the farm for a Drake Maye so players like bellinger and wandale etc can finally shine

Quote from: brownelvis54 on March 14, 2024, 09:29:14 PMEVERY QB listed as #2 on any roster wants to push the starting QB and take his job. How on earth is this an indicator that Daniel Jones will be cut? If we do draft a QB, then he should sit and learn. Thats the best way to do it. Jones and Luck will have fair competition and the best man should start. I have no idea where you are getting your information from. If you know something I dont, please share.
the more likely scenario is it's a competition between our drafted qb and Drew. Jones has the injury clause in his contract making it virtually impossible and irresponsible for the giants to play him. These moves and words Joe is pitching spell it out even clearer

Quote from: Gmo11 on March 14, 2024, 09:30:38 PMThey will not be cutting Jones this season under any circumstances.  They will absolutely be cutting him next year under every circumstance.
I was reading something about June 1 deadline where his cap hit would go across 2 seasons instead of 1 in the chance we cut him now. I like that idea a lot... why even chance playing him?

Quote from: Ed Vette on March 14, 2024, 09:26:36 PMWhy would he come here to compete for one season if they draft a QB? To prove to the league he can be a starter. Or to get the experience.

This is interesting.
there is also the very real scary chance we don't draft any Qb and he in essence has 2 years as a starter/stop gap.

Even without the Jones injury he would flat out beat him in a training camp,
But with the injury concern it's a virtual certainty

Locke made the right choice

Quote from: 4 Aces on March 14, 2024, 12:53:37 AMLet the guy bumble around in Sirianni's clownshow, behind a declining Eagles OL. The Eagles looked broken by the end of the year and Barkley isn't going to fix it. He's been an unlucky guy here and he'll continue to be unlucky going to PHI at the wrong time.

That said, I agree Barkley had no chance here, much like Daniel Jones. I was OK picking a once in a lifetime RB at #2 PROVIDED you build your franchise around his talents. Run heavy scheme with the QB up under C and the OL down in 3 pt. stances. Downhill. Big slobberknocking TEs. Think Kevin Gilbride running game.

Instead, he's used as a bit player, taking shotgun inside hand-offs while they try to be a passing team. As usual, there was no vision, strategy or plan with the pick.
no one in recent memory has been given more chances and excuses than Daniel jones.

Saquon was a pro bowler and rookie of year. He has proven himself. Please do not compare them as equivalent when Saquon should have been chosen over jones a year ago and thrived with a drake maye type

Quote from: Ed Vette on March 14, 2024, 09:15:28 PMI wonder why after Waller was injured that they didn't target Bellinger more. We were all excited after drafting him and he had a decent rookie season as you said. He's a two way TE and although he lacks the athletic ability of a top TE in the field, I thought he would become an important part of the Offense. Apparently bringing in Waller showed they don't see it that way.
you would need a qb who can develop chemistry with someone.

Quote from: LennG on March 14, 2024, 05:01:44 PMlast year maybe, but now, we already have a crew of average WRs why add another?
he can mentor them, I wouldn't mind it esp if we draft a qb

Looking more and more likely we will end up cutting Jokes so his contract cap is split for 2 years. Good riddance!!

A qb comp between Drake Maye and Lock is a dream come true.

Quote from: killarich on March 12, 2024, 10:58:55 AMOK if you want Receiver at 47 who do you want at 6 ?

My only issue with that is... I like Hyatt and Wandale.... and think they can be above average receivers but as #2 and #3 receivers

I get the feeling they NEED a true #1 Receiver to garner that attention to become above average

I feel like waiting for #47 gets us another receiver at the level of Wandale and Hyatt ..... I want more of a sure thing

But I could be wrong
have we not just seen what CJ stroud did with a poor OLine and mediocre WRs?

We get our franchise guy it doesn't matter who are WRs are

Quote from: Brooklyn Dave on March 13, 2024, 02:45:43 PMNot if it means trading up and giving away this year's number 2 , next year's number 1 and 2 plus

no i would do that for drake maye

YES YES YES!!!!! LETS GET A QB!!!!!

Quote from: Brooklyn Dave on March 13, 2024, 04:21:41 AMI know there is a hug age differential but strictly as a backup, would Ryan Tanneyhill been a better choice ? Do you think that there is some thought with the Giant brass that maybe , if Jones falters that Lock could become the future Giant QB or is that too far fetched.

WAsn't LOck highly regarded when he played at Missouri ?

if you wanted ryan tannehill we might as well have kept Tyrod. Younger is always better especially if the QB we draft doesn't pan out and we can have Lock potentially be seen as a viable option long term than a Tommy Devito.

Lock has a higher ceiling than Jones but had poor coaching and opportunities. As much as I want us to draft a QB, I'm not totally opposed to having him start week 1 either worst case scenario if we get him a top WR instead

Wait and see how the draft plays out then the season.

oh no, we'll have a crystal clear idea of Schoen after the draft.

I personally think he will rightly make smart decision and trade up to 3 for Drake Maye. In that case he gains a lot of favor and approval with me as the Burns trade did.

He dug his own grave but he may be able to get his way out of it too focusing short term.
