I don't care about the Heisman. College stats are great. But I'll wait to judge until he has to elevate against teams that can match the talent he plays with. It's fine that we disagree. Plenty of time to dig deeper into all their film. I do know finding a real QB is priority one for me.

Michigan also has one of the most talented teams in all of college football. It is hard to evaluate him when he isn't challenged at all. I don't think he has near the talent of Maye. I think he's a 10-15. The third guy for me is Daniels from LSU.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on October 27, 2023, 04:38:21 PMYou do realize Drake Maye has played a cupcake schedule so far as well. Georgia tech, Minnesota, South Carolina, miami, App State who took them to two overtimes, and a 1 win Virginia team that beat them.

Now Michigan hasn't played the toughest opponents, but they have beaten the doors off every team they've played while Maye has played down to his competition all season.

McCarthy has played a bunch of xxxx teams with superior talent on his side. I am all in on Maye.

If a guy leaves the pocket too soon, he can create pressure that wasn't there. Jones was doing it. He has developed David Carritis. Not necessarily his fault with what he had to deal with. But it is there now and there is usually no recovery.

Quote from: MightyGiants on October 27, 2023, 08:33:27 AMIf we were talking sacks, I would agree.  However, we are talking time to pressure.  That has nothing to do QB (the QB is can influence if that pressure turns into a hit or sack).

They don't know what they are watching. They don't know coverage responsibilities on plays or how the coaching staff is telling them to play. If Banks was grading so low, he wouldn't be traveling with a teams best receiver as he has done.

Not commenting on Porter. Just commenting on the ridiculously low grades for Banks. I'm sure Porter is fitting well in Pittsburgh's system. But Banks grading in the 50 is literally insane.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on October 26, 2023, 08:31:36 PMHave you watched a lot of Steelers football this year?

My usual comment about PFF applies.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on October 26, 2023, 07:51:55 PMJoey Porter Jr has an 80.4 PFF. Banks has a 56.2.

I doubt the gap between the two players is that wide, but that's interesting.

Addison is great, but the Vikings still should have drafted Banks. I'm thrilled they didn't.

This is a stat that is distorted by how a QB can move within a pocket. This is an area that Jones has regressed majorly. On the first big pass to Hyatt on Sunday, Tyrod reset in they pocket before making the throw. I don't think that counted as a pressure. Jones would have moved right into a pressure.

Even with the trade down, we could have taken Darrisaw. He's an elite right tackle.

Drafting a QB should be their top priority. You just can't wait more than 5 years. Jones isn't it. Other teams know it and you can tell by the trap coverages that Jones still hasn't figured out. Add his injury history on top of all that and you have to do everything you can to find your next QB. And do it now.

KT is playing very well. Wink asks him to do a lot of things. He absorbs lots of double teams. He has massively improved against the run. And he is finishing plays with high effort. The vitriol against this guy boggles my mind. I just don't get it. Wink has never had an edge with double digit sacks. Thibs is gonna be the guy to change that.
#313
And that is why Gettleman is gone. He was completely arrogant as usual after that draft as well. We like our OL better than you guys do. Good lord.

This is coach speak. It is how Daboll talks about most players. They are clearly high on high. His snap share keeps going up.

Most of the sacks were on Jones. He can't make any reads right now. He often is scrambling before there is pressure, creating pressure where there is none. This team has a QB problem. That must be fixed before anything else can truly be fixed long term. They should do whatever it takes to trade up in next year's draft to take an elite QB talent. The time for excuses is over.

Quote from: Ed Vette on October 02, 2023, 11:21:06 PMEleven sacks. Wrap your head around that. He's not the worst problem.

That said, this season isn't going to bode well for Daboll, Schoen and Jones. If they have a top five pick, as it looks now, they draft a QB.
