This is a two QB draft with a pick 10-20 gamble on another, probably Daniels. More might well be taken (eg by then 24 year old Bo Nix) because so many teams have a QB need but they will just be throwing chips on the table and hoping for a lightning strike.

Best case he continues to improve and establishes himself as a backup QB who can come in and win some games without the D needing a bunch of turnovers. Worst case he is QB3 kept on the roster because if we try to put him back on PS somebody will pick him up.

IMO given we will likely pick 4-8 and miss out on the top 2 QBs I think our plan will be to upgrade QB2 from Taylor in free agency, continue to work on TdV, slide back slightly in R1 and focus our high picks on OL, Edge, DL to try to improve our foundation.

Neal will get a chance to back-up Thomas at LT or play G as he is lost at RT. We have to replace Leo and Azeez can only be ED3 at best given his health issues. I know QB is THE issue but we won't have the ammo to fix it unless we hit with a day 2/3 dice roll as others have.

I strongly prefer building the lines through the draft but even R1 league wide barely has a 50% hit rate and we are definitely not better than average with our high picks. I know many here may hate continuing to roll the dice on the same needs but the 2024 free agent T class is ugly as always so we simply may not have much choice...though Bobby Johnson must be fired no matter what we do.

Unless Jones has an unexpected resurgence it will be another long 2024 season but some of us always thought we were 2-3 years from competing and with hindsight last season simply hid flaws and, together with iffy drafting, pushed back the start of the rebuild.

Providing we win the turnover battle by at least two we have a chance against the very worst teams in the league...that is as close to glass half full as I can get here.

Mims Jr was pretty much a mutual obsession in my conversations with Ceri. Addison was my favourite of the round 1 WR guys but Mims was love.

I also really liked Pace and was stunned he went undrafted. It is a clear case of too much emphasis on 'prototyping' size etc. and not enough on production. I get why this can happen as on average size does matter to both production and longevity but for all the resources deployed sometimes NFL teams still miss the obvious exceptions.

I had Porter Jr above Banks on my board as I thought his physicality suited our scheme but I see enough in Banks so far to think we will be happy with him.

Football is a complementary game between O, D and ST. If any one of these is weak it diminishes the others. This year we have both a terrible O (driven by a historically bad OL and QB poor play & injuries) and a below par ST unit (injuries, roster gaps, coaching). Our D is adequate (flaws and strengths) but gets exposed at times by bad field position and too much time out there.

ST should be a relatively simple fix through ugh coaching and targeted FA additions. The OL is proving more problematic as a mix of injuries, wasted draft picks (Neal, Ezeudu) and coaching are all issues. Finding a QB is a dice-throw in the draft. We cannot go into next year with the at best inconsistent and injury prone Jones as the #1 QB and we cannot have Taylor as QB2. De Vito? Let us see if he can earn a 'solid back-up' tag down the stretch.

It feels like a minimum two year fix but both last year and this year have been surprising in markedly different ways so perhaps next year will surprise me as well.

No matter how bad we get Washington is always there to make us look better.

Shout outs to Tommy De Vito balling out behind our JuCo OL and Bobby Okereke seeming to force a fumble with every tackle. KT also eats Washington.

I am not on here that regularly at the moment (work being done on the house and the normal life grind) so I am a bit tardy.

Many, many years ago when I first found my way on here as a Brit looking for a place to discuss the Giants Jim was one of the first to welcome me.

He has been a constant presence. Through thick and thin (including thoughtful and solicitous messages as I recovered from my severe illness). Always forthright. Sometimes irascible. Often funny. He touched all our lives and that will endure.

It feels a little strange posting now and knowing he will not pop up in the thread. Even his absence is a presence.

Great stuff Ceri.

Rutgers Aussie P Adam Korsak has put 42% of his career kicks inside the 20 and is the opposite of boom or bust Gillan with metronomic consistency. A position of need and worth a mention.

After we secured English Premier League survival in the most dramatic comeback fashion from 0-2 down to win 3-2 last night to ensure our 68th consecutive top flight season next year.

It will also likely our last one at our grand old home of a Goodison Park (built 1892 and often modified since) before moving to our under construction new riverfront home at Bramley Moore Dock for 2023/24 (or at the latest 2024/25).

I certainly know how to pick my teams to maximise stress but in truth Everton picked me as I am 4th generation and my kids 5th generation fans/sufferers. Much though I live and breathe the Giants (deep in my blood through my NY/NJ family roots on my Mum

Thanks to Brian and Ceri for all the work that goes into this. A great listen. Much appreciated.

Bob, the Giants did not draft anyone with any significant injury concerns (the Neal stuff was draft smoke). It makes me doubt that Booth was their guy. I think it was Gordon we missed out on if it was anyone when he went at 39. Of course the trade up in front of us means that one team thought we might want Booth but ultimately that is an opinion & one where you would always choose to minimise a risk if you have a guy targeted as the team trading up.
