Big Blue Huddle / I have two questions about Daniel Jones
September 11, 2024, 10:41:23 AM
1)  Why was he so inaccurate on Sunday?  He hasn't been a pinpoint accurate QB, but he is usually more accurate than what we saw Sunday?  Why was that?

2)  Can he resolve whatever issues he is dealing with?

Quote from: T200 on September 10, 2024, 03:52:12 PMYou know this how? Because I call out what I see? That makes me not a Jones fan?

Does Daniel blindly throw passes without taking into account where defenders are?

There was plenty of bad things that could have been blamed on Jones in that game (starting with his accuracy).  I just know Xs and Os, and that play doesn't work if the defense knows it's coming.  This was a particularly bad choice of plays facing the Vikings, who love to routinely line 8 up at the LOS, so the QB isn't even tipped off to their intention of jumping the route since they routinely back off the LOS at the snap.

Daboll didn't throw the pass. Jones did.

Quote from: T200 on September 10, 2024, 03:45:14 PMI know you're not a Daboll fan. Exactly what genius plays do you expect him to call with Jones as QB?

It's like giving your teenage son the keys to take a girl out for the first time but he can't drive a stick.

We know you are not a Jones fan.  How was that play supposed to work if the defense knew it was coming and they could jump the route (which was a quick throw)?

Quote from: Giant Obsession on September 10, 2024, 03:40:15 PMI find the fact they knew what we were running unbelievable.   After all we have the QB genius calling the plays.  And he had a whole off season to formulate a game plan worthy of his title. Surely this can not be true.

I really wondered about the pick 6.  It seemed like it was a play that was set up to fail.  Now we know the defense knew it was coming, which does not speak well of Daboll, as you said.

"They shouldn't of had any points," Vikings defensive end Jonathan Greenard said on KFAN's Power Trip Morning Show. "I feel like we definitely should've shut those guys out."

Greenard said the "whole world" knew "what play as coming" when linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel jumped Jones on a quick pass and snagged the ball out of midair and cruised into the end zone for a defensive touchdown.

How did it feel to know the Vikings were making life miserable for Jones?

"I've been in Houston the past four years where I've been apart of that. I've been apart of those boos when you're walking on the field and your offense doesn't make anything happen, you would think it's an away game at this point," said Greenard, who signed with Minnesota during the offseason. "But at that time, how we were attacking him and understanding where he's at in his career based on obviously the scheme that he has, whatever contract things are going on, we understand he's dealing with a lot and if we can add another aspect of pressure onto the guy to make him speed up his reads a little bit more, make sure he's not going to get confident and comfortable back in the pocket, man, it was a great feeling to see it on the first couple of drives."

But as the boos kept coming and grew louder, it got a little bit uncomfortable.

"When we heard the boos raining in, we're like 'OK, now we're good on our side.' But when it got really loud to where it was as loud as it would be on a third down should be when they're on defense, it was kind of bad," Greenard said. "We kind of started to feel a little bit bad for him as we're still just completely taking away everything he wants to do. It's good to be on the other side of it."

Quote from: Painter on September 10, 2024, 02:34:56 PMI don't give a flying f**ck as to what Lombardi thinks or says. What weighs much more heavily on me is that I am hard-pressed to recall a time in which I have been less interested in Giants football and whatever a "he" or a "they" have done or not done.

Cheers! (Simply a habit)

The seasonal cycle of the Giants over the past decade-plus has me feeling like Sisyphus.  Giants have a bad season, the team makes changes and improvements that spark some optimism, the team goes through training camps and the offseason looks reasonably good, then crashes and burns once the season starts.  Rinse and repeat

They absolutely couldn't. Banks ought to use his platform to competently critique the issues instead of this nonsense.

That was just an except of a the full show, which goes into more detail

You also claimed Leo was mediocre.  The same guy many years older who had 5 pressures and 1 hit and a 76.7 PFF grade in his opening game.   Compare that with Nacho and Chatman (PFF grades 52.7 and 42.7) with a all of one hurry despite the advantage of the offensive interior being focused on Dex

Agreed, it shouldn't have been that hard to groom a proper backup

My thoughts on the #TyreekHill arrest/detention

As a police officer, half the battle is de escalation.

Write the summons. You're walking away from the vehicle. Who cares if he puts his window up? You have his ID.

It's not our job to teach grown people manners. Being rude isn't a crime.

"Yo man. Sweet ride. Why were you driving so fast? Slow down. Have a good game."

I've let bonafide criminals that I had locked up in the past, go for similar violations.

Should you follow a lawful order when stopped? Yes. But there were plenty of opportunities to squash this.

His friend pulls over to see what's going on, why so aggressive with him?

"Your friend is being detained. Please keep driving. It's unsafe to park there."

There are enough legitimate criminals out there that we have to worry about.

These police officers were unprofessional in my opinion.

Quote from: T200 on September 10, 2024, 01:31:30 PMI know I'm beating a dead horse but aside from Jones, the new offensive line needed to play more together in the preseason.

Tim,

There is plenty I blame on the people in charge; this isn't one of them.  From what I heard, the Giants wanted to give their projected starting line plenty of preseason snaps together, but a series (mostly Runyan and JMS) of injuries prevented that from happening.

How about    this is what happens when you have a coaching staff that doesnt know what the hell they are doing!!

Dumpster Dan

Dan,

If the coaches went against medical advise in activating Gunner for the game, then I would agree.
