Thomas is a better player and bigger loss, but to me EZ has shown some level of competency whereas Breida is just not very good

What makes you say breida isnt very good? as of late he looks to have better hands than barkley, and while hes not a game changer, he looks steady. im ok with saying barkley is better. way better. but i dont think that means breida is bad.

where the heck has bellinger been? considering we were supposed to see a lot more 2 tight end sets and waller has been getting a good amount of attention, why isnt bellinger seeing 6-7 balls per game? what does he have 1 catch this year? the kid is very talented. idk what is going on with our play calling but it has been absolutely terrible this year.

i expect to see an aggressive game plan tonight. whether it works or not is the question. but we cant keep playing from behind and playing it so safe. we have to be an nfl caliber team at some point.

Quote from: Rambo89 on September 27, 2023, 03:15:47 PMHas there been a team that has invested more draft capital into "protecting" their QB after being drafted as the Giants have Daniel Jones?  They've already invested the 4th, 7th overall picks plus a 2nd rounder into offensive linemen to protect him.

Looking around the league you have Dak who has 3 1st rounders on his line however, 2 of them were drafted years before the Cowboys drafted Dak.  Herbert has 2 first rounders on his line drafted after he was taken but Herbert has also put up big time production his first 3 season's in the league.  Beyond those two I can't think of another who has had their franchise invest as much into their offensive line in draft capital as the Giants have.

That has to fall on coaching. clearly these guys were talented enough to be drafted so high. and we are getting nothing out of them.

Quote from: Leek21 on September 28, 2023, 02:38:23 PMCurious to know where Hawkins ranks, I thought he has played well so far.

he needs to learn how to tackle. he had some absolutely gutless "efforts" to tackle last game.

thats part of it. the other part is lackluster play. yes, jones has many obstacles to overcome regarding the line, but other than 2 quarters this season, he has been wholly uninspiring. he needs to turn it up. lots of qb's deal with bad line play and still make plays. yes, his situation is a bit worse. but at some point, he needs to make plays that breathe life into this team.

the defense needs to buck up and start playing with some passion. we were supposed to have elite run d, and we have been anything but. the missed tackles need to stop.

so yes, expectations are maybe a bit high. but honestly, they should be high. we improved a playoff team roster, daboll won coach of the year last year, and its year 2 in the same offense/defense. things we havent had in a long time.

Quote from: Trench on September 27, 2023, 07:50:24 PMWR shallow depth?...I think not. That was supposed to be a strong point.

theres depth. we just have 5 of the same player.

The game was within reach. i'll leave it at that.

Wow. i honestly thought the oline played a little better than those scores suggest.

i get that guys need to earn their stripes. but hyatt is easily the most dynamic receiver we have. you have to at least try to get him involved. maybe they felt his strengths werent a good matchup against SF, but...who was? no one did well last night.

simmons i havent seen enough of, and he was a late signing. maybe he is still picking up the playbook. i think we'll see him settle in soon enough. also with mcfadden having a standout game, it takes away snaps from simmons.
