Quote from: uconnjack8 on December 04, 2023, 05:23:22 PMNot sure about whether he had a "right" to be there or not, but I do know the NFL does not allow stadium security to be involved in separating  players.   He no right to do that and its against NFL rules.

He's not stadium security.

All I saw was a team official trying to separate two players on his own sideline only to get a finger jammed in his face for his efforts. Say what you want the NFL controls who is allowed in the team area of the sidelines. He had every right to be there and didn't instigate anything.

Quote from: uconnjack8 on December 02, 2023, 08:27:28 AMTop 5 all-time?  Not sure if Ibwould go that high.

If passer rating is the only metric you'd use to define greatness you'd be correct.

Quote from: Stringer Bell on December 01, 2023, 11:29:02 PMNix is terribly overrated and ripped up by the Oregon offense.

Overrated? Dude has 40 passing touchdowns versus 3 interceptions. He may never be a star but statistically he's having a top 5 season of a college quarterback all time. I think his play on the field has earned him all the praise he's gotten.

Quote from: Ed Vette on December 01, 2023, 11:26:45 AMThat's why I think he drops to the second round.

That and a lack of arm strength. He has a violent arm motion to generate the sort of velocity the top prospects do almost effortlessly. I think he's a good player but I question if he's the guy for us.

So breathtakingly stupid, then again it's the Jets.

Quote from: Brooklyn Dave on November 28, 2023, 05:43:23 PMThe only offensive lineman that I remember drafted number 1 were Jake Long, Eric Fisher and Orlando Pace, so it is not a fair comparison

We aren't going to be drafting first overall so I don't get your point.

Quote from: Brooklyn Dave on November 28, 2023, 10:42:22 AMFor all the Eli Mannings, Joe Burrows, JD Strouds , Peyton Mannings, John Elways, first picks in the NFL Draft who have succeeded, the following are either 1st or second picks in the draft who have not:

Jamarous Russell
Sam Darnold
Zach Wilson
David Carr
Sam Bradford
Rick Mirrer
Mitch Trubitsky
Jameis Winston
Tim Couch
Vince Young
Robert Griffin
Ryan Leaf

WE have so many needs , the most glaring being the OL , that maybe drafting a so called ," franchise QB " with our first pick might not be the smartest move.

Jones is being paid $40 million next year and any QB we draft will sit behind him unless he gets hurt, so our first round pick if it is a QB will noit improve our team at all, while an OL if he is the right one , and edge rusher or a legitimate ACE receiver would . As respects the latter only Marvin Harrison JR or Keon Coleman would fit that requirement .

You act like you don't have busts when you draft other positions. Outside of Thomas every offensive lineman we've drafted the past five years has been a bust. We have two second round picks and cap space to deal with the line.

Quote from: StompYouOT on November 27, 2023, 08:59:48 PMWhy doesn't anyone talk about Penix??  Has a great arm.  If we do fall a bit that might be ok since maybe we can snag Penix or McCarthy with our second pick, even if it means trading back up.  Could get a great piece on either line with the first pick then.

I don't want any part of Williams, never take a quarterback from USC.  Daniels is exciting but heard he's in an oversimplified offense??  Idk.  I still think we end up picking somewhere decent looking ahead at our schedule.  Honestly the teams ahead of us are worse than us and should be drafting there anyway.

Two torn ACL's make him a significant contributor jury risk.

Quote from: GeauxJints on November 27, 2023, 07:30:16 PMAre we convinced Washington isn't taking a QB? Sam Howell can throw for yards but he's pretty abysmal as a whole.

New owner, new coach, new quarterback.

The only thing I can figure is that certain mistakes get weighed more against a players score than others, but other than that I've got nothing.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on November 27, 2023, 06:10:27 PMOle Miss is paying Quinshon Judkins 1.2 million a year. If hes making that imagine what some qbs and Harrison Jr etc are making.

CJ Stroud is making $6.5 million in salary and bonuses and millions more in endorsement deals. There is no college football player who's annual NIL deal comes anywhere near that.

Quote from: files58 on November 27, 2023, 05:14:36 PMWe may see more of the possibility players staying because they can earn NIL money. The urgency for some may not be there. Harrison is a bit of an outlier because of his Dad's knowledge of the league.

I think the NIL money is over blown. He's a lock to be a top 3 pick. The annual money for his rookie deal will far exceed what he makes from NIL and the NFL has its own version of NIL in the form of endorsement deals. Those deals often exceed the value of their contract if they're a top rookie. Even if he stayed another year he gonna be a top two or three pick meaning he's going to a crappy team. All he has by returning is downside. Less money and the chance of suffering a career altering injury.

Anything can happen but the Cardinals front office has already let it be known that they still believe in Murray. Combine that with his radioactive contract and it's unlikely that they would take a quarterback in the top 4.

Quote from: GeauxJints on November 27, 2023, 10:49:35 AMSure but he was trash for 3 years at Auburn. I don't feel good about a 5th year guy finally breaking out in the PAC where it's tough to find a successful NFL QB. Same with Penix, was trash at Indiana before transferring to a PAC 12 that has like 4 defenses in the top 60 in regards to YPG.

Be consistent and apply that same set of standards to Daniels who sucked at ASU. FWIW neither Nix or Penix are one year wonders. Both had really good years last year.
