Sorry @squibber, beat ya to it.

That actually speak a lot for Michael Penix.

Did you know that Schmeelk can blink 87 times a minute? Fascinating.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on April 13, 2024, 07:03:02 AMDefinitely impressive.

I stopped doing Wordle mainly because I only have (or want to spend) so much time a day on these games, and Wordle was starting to get tired for me. Once in a while I still do it, but I don't bother posting.

Waffles I stopped doing altogether as it was just too easy to bother. There's basically almost zero chance of striking out in that game, which to me makes it not interesting. I like games where I have a legitimate chance of failing. Getting something right every day without fail gets boring after a while. I know the bigger waffles or waffles deluxe or whatever they call it is tougher, but it's the same idea.

With Connections, you can definitely get stumped. The only negative is sometimes when you get stumped it's because the connections are lame or you got something right but it wasn't right according to them. Still, this is by far my favorite of these games.

With strands, you're always going to get home, but it's down to how many hints you use. Getting it right with zero hints is satisfying and usually not easy as the opening tip to the category is often very ambiguous and you have no clue what you're looking for.

With Waffles my goal is five and I'll settle for four but anything less is a failure the me. That motivates me.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on April 13, 2024, 06:37:44 AMI didn't get purple before the others but when it got eliminated down to that four I knew the connection immediately.

We definitely have the easy guy on his shift right now. Will probably get harder again by early next week.
It's tricky when multiple words have more than one meaning. Although we are also getting better at the game. This game doesn't have a streak like Wordle does. Most people quit playing Wordle every day after they lose a long streak. I may decide to do that too. I'm at 317 days.

I actually knew purple but chose to leave it last as the others were easy today.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on April 12, 2024, 10:12:23 PMGetting three random four letter (or more) words to make a set to get a hint in this is cake. The goal is clearly to not have to do that once. Doing it once, in my opinion at least, is probably about a par, give or take. If you need to do it twice you're in bogey territory or worse.

I say "you" not referring to you specifically. I mean "us", or anyone who plays this game. I routinely need to get the hints (lightbulbs) more than once. Sometimes that's because there is a limit to how much of my time I'm willing to spend on this game. Other times it's because I'm stumped. But let's make no mistake: finding three random four letter words that have nothing to do with the theme is not hard at all. Once you've done that even just once you've gotten a crutch. More than one crutch in a game is not a very good performance IMHO. And again, I say that as someone who has had plenty of times of needing more than one hint.
It can definitely be too time consuming. I face the same decisions.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on April 12, 2024, 10:05:14 PMFolks here who have made up their minds that McCarthy is going to be a really good NFL QB will claim that Tiki, a highly talented, knowledgeable, and accomplished former NFL star, has no clue what he's talking about and that they're right and he's wrong.

Folks who see it more his way will nod in agreement or "like" the post.

That's how it usually works in March/April.
Of course. I posted the BB Banter piece to show the disparities of opinion. Theirs is much more objective. If you can decipher the caffeine powered 500 words a minute.

I guess in this game, one hint is "par", two hints is "bogey", more than two hints is "blowup", and zero hints is "birdie/eagle/hole-in-one" depending on the difficulty.
Getting words aren't hints. Although I find it best to accumulate words for a clue because you might stumble on a hint. After one hint it was obvious what the theme was. It became difficult to find the words and the strand but attainable.

He's bounced around quite a bit and his salary has dropped over the years. I wouldn't be too enthusiastic as he looks to compete as a backup. I doubt he makes much more than 3mm and if he does, he's overpaid.
