Quote from: MightyGiants on October 13, 2023, 12:00:05 PMSadly, I don't think there will be a need for fans to call for seeing DeVito.   I am not optimistic, considering the sorry state of the injury-riddled line, that Tryod will make it through the game uninjured.
You read my mind. Additionally, IMO one of the reasons Taylor is not a starting QB is his penchant for putting himself in harms way.

For those asking about La'el Collins' workout with Giants this week, here is my 2 question exchange with Brian Daboll today:

Question: "How did La'el Collins' workout go the other day?"

Daboll: "He did a good job."

Question: "Does he look healthy enough to play football relatively soon, do you think?"

Daboll: "I mean, he's out there running in shorts. He did a good job. A good workout."

Maybe Johnson already ruined him in the workout. LOL

Injury lists always seem to be longer when you're not competing on a consistent basis.

I hope that he's healthy and Schoen signs him. I have always believed him to be a solid OL.

Lord knows we could use him (assuming Johnson doesn't ruin him).

Big Blue Huddle / Where is Bobby Johnson?

With all this talk around lack of protection and unmet potential along the OL....Whose calling out the OL Coach?!!

Why does it seem like he's getting a pass?

Where is the talk around other candidates for the role?

If I'm making personnel decisions, my sites are set squarely on him.

Am I wrong?

I don't blame DJ for the situation they're in.

But he is not the answer at QB moving forward.

Here is my reasoning in a nutshell:

You cannot UNSEE GHOSTS.

Once it happens, even after all of last years therapy by way of game planning to hold his hand through last season, the next time the OL breaks down or can't hold off, which happened almost immediately this year...the ghosts come back and there's no returning from that long term.

The mistake Schoen and Daboll made was leveraging their ability to placate Meddling Mara in return for a shot at autonomously running this franchise.

The deal just blew up in there face and now they've taken us back to Joe Judge world part 2.

They should've known better, he's NEVER giving up control.

Rather see it coming than having a meddler on the DL.

I realize the BUCK STOPS with the HC and Daboll deserves some real heat right now.

However, there are a few assistants (it seems to me) aren't really in the crossfire and IMHO deserve to be.

- Johnson for a real lack of development among so many young and heralded offensive linemen.

- McGaughey for terrible performances on all ST units.

- Wink for the poorest tackling since McAdoo's second season.

These areas all need immediate attention if we're going to have a prayer at a respectable season that finishes with the team headed in the right direction headed into next season.

Is it the injury preventing him from playing?

Or are they insuring he's 100% in order to execute a trade before the deadline?

I honestly don't believe they lack talent. They lack development and that falls on the coaching staff.

Want to blame Schoen? Blame him for the coaching staff. Anyone could see last season that our weak links were Johnson and McGahey.

6 degrees of separation '22-'23
(In no particular order)

1st: A rookie HC in New York, winning a playoff game and being named Coach of the Year (one of the worst things that could've happened)

2nd: Meddling Mara going public with his sympathy and vote of confidence for DJ, influencing the staff to help him redeem himself.

3rd: Selecting pass rushers on the ends who are light in the pants.

4th: Settling for Bobby Johnson to develop all of those high draft picks they invested in.

5th: God Bless him, I hope he lives for 70 more years, but sticking with McGaughey to lead special teams was wrong PERIOD!

6th: Smart, Tough and Dependable is not a business plan it's a slogan. Parcells and Bellichick had a business plan - Coughlin and Spagnola (when they we'rent being undermined by management) had a business plan.....YOU COULD SEE THEIR IDENTITY ON THE FIELD. - no one has executed a true business plan since.

*I think these guys are capable if they take their collective head out of their AZZ. Build the vision and the identity, those who buy in with their hair on fire and can perform are in, those who can't / won't (no matter where they were drafted) are OUT.*

First a reality check: THIS TEAM IS NOT A PLAYOFF TEAM, STOP PRETENDING AND CONTINUE BUILDING!

Last year this coaching staff did a great job of holding DJ's hand and building his confidence.

IMHO he was seeing ghosts before they arrived and he was nearing the end of his career as a starter as a result.

Then the winning got in the way of the building for the coaching staff and IMO they believed that they had a solid OL Coach (they don't), the ST Coach is good enough (he isn't), and DJ (particularly after the big contract) was cured. He's NOT!

By the 2nd half the ghosts returned, you could see the panic on Daboll's face and the fear in DJ's eyes. NOT the fear of getting hit (he's already proven he's a physically tough kid) but the fear of letting everyone down.

I hate to say this because I don't want it to be true, but I think we all need to adjust our expectations because last night was the beginning of the end of DJ's career as a starter for the NYG.

It may be the end for Daboll as well if he doesn't smarten up and get rid of Johnson and McGaughey.

That's my .02

We look like a small college team out there.
Painful to watch. Listening to Buck & Aikman enjoy this makes it that much worse.

He was 100% correct. I appreciate his honesty.

I'd love to see him in the locker room spreading the same message.

Daboll likes the connection with the past by bringing players in, why not include Barber.

Break the team down, Tiki!
