Dumpster Dan

It's not clear that when Neal was deactivated that they added someone to the headcount as Phillips his sole back up was already on the roster. In any case, if needed, they can always send someone like Olszewski back to the ps, ah s'pose

It's far too early-like way way- to even pose such a question. I didn't realize that we were at such loose ends. If only we could simply calm down, get a grip, and stash the rash. Yikes!

I know that we have a tendency to be fickle and rash. That's probably true of most team's fans, and quite understandable with Giants fans given our too frequent, long struggles with competitiveness.

Tommy DeVito is an easy to root for kind of guy, but let's not get carried away and burden him with our "over our skis" expectations. Despite the attention he's getting from the media, not so much for his modest accomplishment as for it's "human interest" element in what has been a less than exciting NFL season so far, it is not only lead pipe unlikely that he will "run the table" but even money that should Our Heroes not beat the Saints on Sunday, we will stop overreaching and return to our more usual short-arming.

But make no mistake, should they win, you will hear me yelling, "Way to go! Another round of chicken cutlets, please." It will then be up to the Eagles to put an end to our "playoffs repeat" fantasy, and so let us start our "Way too Early" Silly Season WAGing that much earlier.

Living as I do in Dallas, I can root for SMU and UT with pleasure, but not so for the Dallas Jerrahs and its fraudulent fans. If it wasn't for the visiting team's fans, Jerry World would be half empty on game days. Philly fans may be seen as obnoxious, but they are at least sincere.

In any case, as it's 28 years since the Cows last made it to a Super Bowl, we don't often hear them referred to as America's Team these days. Let's hope that nonsense is finally over.

They know exactly what it will cost to again tag him next year and then, assuming he remains healthy, to decide whether he's worth resigning as a FA. I don't think there is any doubt that he is a Top 5 Back when he's healthy.

However, there is the ability v availability element in his value equation. While after missing 21 games (2019-2021) he bounced back to Pro Bowl form last year, he has already missed 3 of the 13 played this year. Add another year, more wear and tear and...

Has Saquon spoiled us to the point where we can't imagine finding a suitable successor in this or next year's Draft?

Why do we think he needs to be "defended". He's an adult not a child. He can do whatever he wants for whatever reason. He certainly doesn't need any help from us nor should we risk embarrassing him by suggesting otherwise.

Hardly! Any improvement in their usual Division 2 pass blocking was due largely to Devito's faster decision-making, getting rid of the ball quicker and running when he couldn't. And don't let those couple of late game dashes by Barkley fool you as overall the run blocking was actually worse than it has been.

If you are a tried and true Giants fan, you root for and support whomever has the task of lining up behind the Center and calling signals. Of course, it should go without saying that rooting for one doesn't call for dissing another.

In any case, let's not get carried away and add pressure to Tommy after 3 straight wins as we did not do to Danny after five in a row, early last year. And as Knicks fans, let's not do a Jeremy Lin. That won't do nobody no good.

Of course, the talking heads will always look for something to tickle the fickle and rash among the locals at least as it is hardly of national interest. Still as a Giants fan, such a modest comparison should hardly be a bother.

He's not a legend yet; he's not yet even the Giants version of Jeremy Lin at this eye blink time. Still, Tommy De Vito is having fun and so should we.

As for the Toney focus, as I'm sure you know, there is no one who is more pleased, more satisfied than I that that HorsesAss is no longer wearing blue.

No! Of course, in the NFL, everything is relative and nothing is certain. Still, for any team we may consider to be an ongoing contender to somehow signal its decline is rare and unlikely except for those who are more comfortable with retrograde thinking. Wouldn't you say?

Will we be able and/or prepared, to cope with the possibility, perhaps even the likelihood, that Schoen/Daboll Co. may not draft a QB with their 1st pick no matter who, when, and where?

Why not leave it to ChatGPT4 or Google Gemini and such, or do we not think their AI is nearly as impressive of our FI?  <:-P

Sorry, just teasing.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on December 10, 2023, 04:30:24 PMI know you and others at times have said myself and others were Jones haters or had an anti-Jones bias. It may have even been funny or cute to many at some point but now the reality is that Jones is not a good Qb. It's just easier to say that I had some bias instead of saying oh no you and a few others were correct on Jones while the majority of the board was fanboying and being incorrect about the current Qbs ability. But sure if me not wanting my favorite team to sign a bad Qb to an even worse contract is bias then I'll take it.

You automatically assumed I was referring to Jones that you must have misread what I actually wrote. I said that the line has been bad because of injury, which is true it has been awful but when I was referring to Qb play I was referring to all 3 Qbs this season that have started. None of which have gone out and done anything but the bare minimum.

When healthy the baseline for the offensive line was set at the end of last year, they were at least average to above average to finish the year. Yes they've been destroyed by injury all year but at minimum they have the potential to be average, can anyone say that about the Qb play? We have 4 high draft picks either in year 1 or year 2 with the team on the line, they have to give the players time to develop. They same cannot be said about the Qb position.

Schoen saying Jones is the starter next year at the end of November means absolutely nothing. Yes, it's a factual statement because Tyrod is a FA and that only leaves Devito, so of course he is the starter right now. I imagine that changes drastically by the start of the summer.

I don't think I have misread a single word of yours nor do I believe that I have misinterpreted your intention. We are, of course, entitled always to our own opinions whether or not bias-laden.  We are not, however, entitled to our own facts. There are, of course, times when an assertion is tantamount to a statement of fact. Both of us may be guilty of that although it is something better to avoid if possible.

When it comes to my strongly held belief concerning the Giants woeful QB non-assisting or protecting Oline despite the supporting objective data, it is indeed just my opinion. However, when it comes to Daniel Jones's status as the Giants starting QB next year, it is not my opinion but that of Joe Schoen for the very compelling reasons given, like it or not.

Unless one is lusting after a very particular QB, WR, or OT in the 2024 Draft, there is not much point, and little to be gained in guessing where Our Heroes will end up picking from among the current plethora (dirty dozen) of 3,4,5 win teams through Week 17 even if we were to ignore the eventual S of S tiebreakers

As for moi, in the epic words of the late Samuel Goldwyn: "Include me out".

Cheers!
