Big Blue Huddle / Giants to wear 1933 Uniforms?
April 23, 2024, 01:12:08 PM
Rumor has it. The Giants to wear the 1933 uniforms for a game or two this upcoming season. Personally I dont care for it when teams switch uniforms during the season, but these do look cool.

Quote from: MightyGiants on April 23, 2024, 10:28:54 AMI seriously doubt this would happen.   Daniel Jones is the consummate professional and ultimate team player; I would be shocked if he said or did anything that would hurt his team.

Rich I agree that Jones is a team player. The article speaks about the media:

If the Giants go in this direction, they had better be prepared for the maelstrom that follows.

There is nothing more distracting to a team than having two quarterbacks for one job. Wait until Jones looks rusty in a training camp practice or he misses an open receiver in the season opener, or — heaven forbid — throws the ball up for grabs for an interception. From the moment the Giants are off the clock after taking a quarterback at No. 6, Jones' ownership of the starting job is on the clock. It is almost always an irrevocable decree: Your time is nearing an end.

He knew what would happen. And he wanted no part of it and so he got out.

It was April 28, 2004 when it became official. The Giants released Kerry Collins, their No. 1 quarterback — during one stretch he started 67 consecutive games — when he refused to accept a pay cut to stay with the team. Four days earlier, then-general manager Ernie Accorsi pulled off a bold and daring draft day trade, acquiring Eli Manning from the Chargers. The plan the Giants wanted to enact was to keep Collins the proven veteran around to start until Manning the rookie was ready to take over.

Collins was 31 years old and had no interest in a role as a caretaker quarterback.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on March 31, 2024, 02:05:13 PMNabers.

If we take either of these players, it means we're not drafting a QB (at least not with our first pick), which means we're going with Jones again, at least for the time being.

Jones' biggest supporters, when listing reasons why he has continued to be so glaringly unproductive on the field, have often claimed he never has anyone open. I know there has been a growing recent movement here to portray Nabers as some sort of arch-criminal despite no convincing evidence of that, but one thing I know about him for sure is that he can separate at an elite level. If anyone can get open enough for Jones to see him and throw it to him, it's this guy. So he probably makes more sense than Odunze, who is fast but more of a physical, 50/50 ball, back shoulder type guy. We have already tried these types with Jones (Golladay, Waller), and it hasn't worked out. He seems to need guys to be wide open with nobody near them. I think Nabers probably has the best chance of fitting that sort of profile.

In three days we will find out who the Giants pick, I hope it is a WR, and its Nabers

So.....

The Giants want a QB, but if he is not there, then they want a WR (Nabers), but they may want to move up in the draft to get there guy, they may also consider moving down in the draft per a source familiar with the Giants......oh please get here soon Thursday

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on April 21, 2024, 03:28:08 PMI think we have the worst offensive roster in the league but defensively I don't think we're anything close to that bad. We have an elite DT, excellent edge rushers, a budding young star at CB, and a pro bowl caliber mike backer. No doubt there is still plenty of room for improvement but unless this new DC is a complete train wreck, I have to believe our D will be no worse than average this year.

I'm not sure where it all nets out. We still need to see the draft too, obviously, although to your point we're not exactly drowning in draft capital (albeit we're high in the order of most rounds we pick in).

I tend to agree with you as far as our defense goes, The only concern is at safety

Offense is an entirely different subject to me.

I was watching a video on Andrew Thomas, and he was talking about his new Coach. The interviewee brought up and solid observation, who is the guy to build chemistry, long term familiarity at left guard, to give Thomas a player he could grow with. Thomas as of now is 25 years old, it would be nice to add a LG that Thomas can gel with.

What are our options at LG, how would you address the position?

Is this fair? ,Austin Mock of The Athletic recently took it upon himself to rank the rosters of all 32 teams ahead of the 2024 NFL draft and it doesn't look good for the Giants. They were listed at No. 30 overall, BUT.....

Two teams rank worse for 2024, but I think the Giants might be in the worst shape for the future. The Giants have paid a QB, who isn't the answer, a ton of money, and they don't have a pick to draft one of the top prospects in this year's draft. They could move up to get one, but if they don't, I suppose wide receiver makes the most sense.

What concerns me the most, is to me this is true, we might actually be the worst team roster wise in the entire league and we only have 6 picks.

Quote from: madbadger on April 20, 2024, 05:04:44 PMIf the patriots are dumb enough to trade the 3rd pick overall for the 6th pick and an injury prone underachieving quarterback with a bad quarterback it'll be the most lopsided trade in league history. Sadly I don't think that Pats would be willing to rescue us from our own stupidity.

It's my understanding Jones would be part of the deal. The trade would involve giving them our second round pick and I believe it was 2025 3rd round pick......

We would get there third round pick

They would get our six round pick

Daniel Jones

This year's second round pick

In 2025/3 round pick

I heard somewhere, forget if it was me watching NFL network or hearing a podcast, but according to the topic, the Patriots want to move out of the 3rd pick. The team they seem to want to trade with is the Giants. Why? Because the rumor is they want one of the top WRs in the draft and by trading with the Vikings, Raiders or any of the other endless rumored teams would surely knock them out of acquiring one of them. Trading with the Giants to #6 in theory would allow them to get on of the 3 WRs. It is said the Patriots would get draft picks from the Giants and also the deal would have Daniel Jones going to the Patriots as well.

1- I don't see this happening, but it has be thinking, if it did happen. Is there a way to make it happen, the Giants would eat a huge portion of this years contract because I dont see any team eating Jones contract as it stands.

Quote from: Jolly Blue Giant on April 20, 2024, 11:42:42 AMPretty sure I'd take this trade

  • The Broncos acquire the No. 6 overall pick.
  • The Giants acquire the No. 12 pick, No. 76 overall (third round), a 2025 first-round pick and Patrick Surtain II.

https://gmenhq.com/posts/this-ny-giants-trade-patrick-surtain-ii-would-steal-show-draft-night-01hvv1x2nnkv?sc=be165671da3b347e2b57f31b3de62ada4335dd4eb041bc409f5188d150192a90

Absolutely, but can we afford Surtains contract?
