Quote from: londonblue on March 12, 2024, 06:26:43 AMIt is threads like this that make me wish we had an ignore button. Obstreperous opinion oft repeated becomes no more convincing.

Let us see where we are when camp starts. The roster today is not the roster tomorrow, let alone then.

There is an ignore function.
Click your name in the upper left corner and click ignore list.

No way he comes here given Schoens dislike of RBs

Who says Schoen dislikes RBs?

How do you know what it will take to sign him?

Do you have anything positive to add to this forum?

Why is everyone so hung up on "letting him walk for nothing". The entire free agency so far has about 100+ guys who walked away from their current team for nothing. Why is it a tragedy for us but not 31 other teams? The NFL trade deadline is not like other leagues with a crazy frenzy of players moving. You can't expect every pending FA to be moved. Plus unlike other sports you can franchise one of your free agents.

Best threadjack ever. I propose we discuss our favorite Italian foods in the next unnecessary Jones thread.

Quote from: LennG on March 05, 2024, 04:07:45 PMI'm surprised we even bothered to show up

The post game show was the most unprofessional thing I have witnessed on a NFL broadcast*. They had almost nothing to say and were so silent that the mics picked up the sound of papers being shuffled as if it was a WWF show that went off script. It was like the had to ditch the Cowboys victory teleprompters and couldn't ad-lib to praise what the Giants did.

* Until 2 months ago when Jimmy Johnson disregarded that he was on an un-biased national broadcast and screamed into the camera at the Cowboys like he was still their Head Coach after 30 years.  :boooo:

Quote from: Sem on March 05, 2024, 05:53:29 PM@TDToomer I would agree, most of the mass produced lagers and pilsners in the US are pretty poor. The difference between the more common American lagers/pilsners vs. a Czech pilsner or German lager are like night and day. Luckily for us there are some US brewers who are knowledgeable and dedicated enough in their craft to brew them the right way.

I have a garage fridge full of beer, and the style I have the most of is bourbon barrel aged stouts, most between 10-15%abv, with some brewed 10 years ago or more. I'm also a homebrewer, and currently have 5 beers kegged and drinking - A Milk Stout with coconut, a Scottish Ale, an Irish Red Ale, an American Pale Ale hopped with homegrown hops, and a British Style Best Bitter. Additionally I have a ~10% Imperial Stout currently fermenting that I'll "cellar" until fall/winter time.

I also enjoy a well made neipa, although there are an awful lot out there that aren't made well. Tree House Brewing is certainly among the best when it comes to neipa's. I've never been to the brewery, but I have had quite a few of their beers. Top notch.

Speaking of neipa's, they are a very challenging beer to make, even for professional brewers, but especially so with my setup. I'm planning on using what I've learned over the past year or so and brew one later this spring. I'm hoping for the best.

Here's a picture of a neipa I brewed back in 2020. Certainly not in the same league as Tree House or other top examples, but it was still as good or better than some of the commercial neipa's I've had. I used copious amounts of Citra, Mosaic, El Dorado, and Strata hops in it.

Awesome! But that beer should be in a Tulip shaped glass so you get the full aroma of the hops. I have pint glasses in my house that I use for everything but beer now.

My tastes have evolved with beer to the point I cannot drink any of these water downed mass produced lagers anymore. I call them college beers of the past. Give me Barrell aged Baltic Porters, Milk Stouts and NEIPAs. There is so much great craft beer in the USA now. Please tell me I am not the only one who visits Tree House who are arguably the most successful craft/independent/destination brewery the USA.

Quote from: T200 on February 15, 2024, 08:10:06 AMShanahan's hands have been a part of two SB losses now. Always a bridesmaid...

Three! He was mostly responsible for the Atlanta failing to run out the clock in the SB, allowing the Patriots to tie the game by continuing to have immobile Matt Ryan call passing plays leading to a sack pushing them out of range of a FG that would have pushed their lead to 10 at the 2 minute warning. They had the ball at the Patriots 35 yards line. All they had to do was run, run, run, FG and they would have won the game.

Quote from: MightyGiants on February 13, 2024, 08:43:55 AMWhy do you show such extreme disrespect by creating such a dishonest and insulting strawman?  Why are you so full of hatred that you would create that false narrative just to attack me?  Still, maybe it's not about me.  Maybe this is what is meant by virtue signaling, where you try to feign moral superiority.  Regardless of your motive, just knock it off; it's childish and annoying.

Just like you are showing disrespect for the people of Hawaii. It goes both ways man.

Quote from: killarich on February 13, 2024, 01:11:26 PMPeople in here crucified Spags for his stint with the Saints and that his defense was figured out by the league

Even if true what is also true is that he has evolved with the league

He should NOT have been fired both times with the Giants

I like Daboll..but if for some reason he got fired ... I would not mind givng Spags a chance as long as he calls the defensive plays

Is that even a thing ? I know coaches do it offensively... could we do it defensively ?

I only recalled him being let go after his 4 game stint as interim head coach in 2017. He left on his own the first time to be head coach of the Rams.

Quote from: MightyGiants on February 13, 2024, 08:28:42 AMIt would have been nice if it had actually started at 6:30.  Instead we were forced to watch some mini-documentary about the fires in Hawaii

So you don't care about the thousands of Americans who lost their lives and homes? Wow just wow.  :boooo:
Nothing has changed over the past 30 years about the start time of the SB! You are yelling at the clouds.

Quote from: bldevil on February 12, 2024, 11:58:43 PMI do think we've reached "peak football".  There is a declining base of parents who want their kids to play contact football.  Historically, the fan base of any sport usually is dominated by people who've played that sport.  The NFL is an institution, however, and it will be decades before it is eclipsed by something else.

Given that my time was wasted for this past season, effectively, when our LT was not available for most of the first half of the season, I have to ask why in the world did I misinvest so much time following this team?  The injuries are ruining the fan experience.  At least the one that I enjoy.  I guess it doesn't matter much to fantasy footballers if one particular team loses its best players due to injuries.

As far as jumping the shark, I thought the league must jumped the shark when the announcers were more interested in Emmitt Smith Dancing With the Stars than with the game they were announcing.

As I get older I'm getting more interested in doing sports than watching sports.  But that's bucking the trend of our nation of couch potato spectators.

Why does is matter what game show an NFL announcer does during the offseason? It has nothing to do with the league. They are choosing to do it. Besides Emmitt is a way better dancer than an studio analyst which he no longer does. In fact his analyst career may not have even overlapped with DWTS!

Just so many Curmudgeons this thread. It really brings this board down.  :boooo:

Quote from: uconnjack8 on February 12, 2024, 10:04:09 PMYeah, I doubt the NFL gives a sh!t whether the people watching know anything about the game.  All they care about is more people watching so they can make more money.  Surprised capitalism seems to upset some fans.

You could say the same thing about Swift. People are so triggered.

Why are so many people bothered by a few celebrity sightings. It's the biggest sporting event of the year so yeah celebrities will manage to get tickets. I see the cameras showing celebs at the World Series, NBA games or even a random Yankees game.

The Superbowl has started at roughly 6:30 since the first time I watched it. It's the one thing the NFL hasn't messed with. Let it be.

Quote from: GloryDays on February 12, 2024, 07:23:03 PMThey are milking the popularity at the expense of the popularity.
To gain new audiences, they risk losing the regular football fan that watches regular season games.
They also have got into social and racial preaching, which I suspect turns off many fans.

Yeah. The racist fans!
