people continue to underestimate how masterful Brian Daboll is. He turned Daniel Jones a straight up BAD QB into a decent game manager for a season. Tommy DeVito is awful and yet he looked ok for a game or two.

Drew Lock is a legit average QB. I have no doubt he can look like Jones did a year ago but on a more consistent level with a higher ceiling

this is getting into horoscope territory imo. I see no eery symbolic synchronicity with the two classes

given the moves Schoen made, it's absolutely essential we take a QB (who is not JJ).

Quote from: PSUBeirut on March 12, 2024, 05:26:21 PM3 out of the 4 teams in the championship games last year will head into next year with "premiere" RBs:  Lions, 49ers, Ravens.  2 1st rounders and 1 2nd rounder.  And the other team has Patrick Mahomes.  And, of course, the Eagles just added and paid a 1st round RB.

So when you say elite teams- do you just mean the Chiefs with Mahomes?

BOOM. Mic drop.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on March 12, 2024, 08:01:52 PMThere is virtually zero chance of Schoen being fired this year. I guess it's not zero, but it is less than 1%. As you rightly point out, Gettleman got four years, and he had zero success. Schoen did have the 2022 season and has frankly handled himself as an ambassador of the brand much better than Gettleman ever did.

Daboll is a different story. Coaches get less rope than GM's, generally, both on the Giants and across the league. Moreover Daboll had all this drama with Wink and murmurings from other coaches that he is a hard guy to work for. Mara couldn't have liked all that. Of course, the Wink saga may have been equally if not moreso on Wink than on Daboll (nobody here knows all the details), but the bottom line is that there has definitely been some drama with Dabes, and the Giants for the most part are a rather staid organization that doesn't like that sort of stuff.

I wouldn't say Daboll definitely has to win this year to keep his job, but his security is less than Schoen's right now.
If we win 3 or 4 games this season BOTH of them are gone. This is under assumption Burns underperforms and ew don't take a QB in the draft

Big Blue Huddle / Isaiah McKenzie joins the Giants

https://nypost.com/2024/03/12/sports/receiver-isaiah-mckenzie-signing-with-giants-in-nfl-free-agency/

The Bills fetish is getting a bit old, but on the other hand I actually find McKenzie to be a pretty decent value play and someone who can help the team as a role guy.

Moves like this again just continue to state over and over that the focus in this draft is QB and that the team assuming Waller stays is relatively content with their playmakers moving forward.

I've seen Joe talk. He's a master at spin and deflecting blame. If he cared about durability we would have never signed Jones not to mention giving him that awful injury clause that makes it impossible to play him without confidence in his game long term.

Quote from: killarich on March 12, 2024, 11:55:27 AMI WANT one of the TOP 3 QBs in this draft just seems unlikely

Yes we can reach for McCarthy , but if he ends up like Josh Rosen

We are far worse off then if we would have just drafted Nabers a #1 WR

I just simply don't think we should reach or give up the world .. not this year at lest

i would trade our 2nd  and two firsts to trade up for Drake Maye in a SECOND at #3. Patriots might do it.

HALLELULJAH!!!

The main issue of course is that Jones lacks mobility after his injury making the strongest part of his game obsolete.

Drew Lock is not a great option, but easily better than Jones (and arguably a better option even before Jones's injury).. I'm fine with him as our #2 though I had a soft spot for Tyrod.

did you see the post I was responding to? I am here to talk about the Giants not engage in personal attacks.

Quote from: coggs on March 12, 2024, 01:11:22 PMWe say that, but watch him have a big year and then next February the arguments about him staying or going will be epic.

what is considered a big year for jones? 16 TD's?

Quote from: AZGiantFan on March 12, 2024, 11:45:14 AMThere is a reason that your arrival has spurred several "how do I use the ignore feature" requests.  We've seen your ilk come and go, possibly even you in a different incarnation, and I doubt you will last long here.

"I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a vindicated pessimist. "

and that is your signature? interesting.

I am here to talk about the Giants not engage in your personal antagonism.

Quote from: zephirus on March 12, 2024, 11:03:01 AMNo, they don't.  It certainly wouldn't be a surprise, but I would be equally not as surprised if they don't pick a quarterback.  Hate Jones all you want, and with good reason, but nothing that transpired yesterday predicates a drafting of a quarterback, at least not in the first round.  Schoen did already say that backup would need to be addressed and Taylor moving on yesterday does solidify the backup need.

We are taking a QB in either round 1 or 2, bet my SAVINGS on it.

Quote from: TDToomer on March 12, 2024, 08:40:35 AMWho says Schoen dislikes RBs?

How do you know what it will take to sign him?

Do you have anything positive to add to this forum?
schoen has made it clear his opinion on

You can look at his stats and make an educated guess he will not sign for cheap

I have plenty positive to say. I will not entertain your antagonism

Our lack of QB progress makes it so obvious we are going Qb in the draft. No JJ!

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Xavier McKinney To Packers
March 12, 2024, 08:40:08 AM
Mark my words, the giants will once again look like fools for not moving him and/or keeping him given his outstanding play. Xavier is the definition of a playmaker such a rare quality on defense from a secondary player.

Those who know know.
