Big Blue Huddle / Re: Is the issue expectations?
September 29, 2023, 04:10:40 PM
You folks don't seem to get it, or maybe you don't want to because you think having expectations is somehow a bad thing when it is actually ineluctable, the very essence of what it means to be a fan.

It is a problem only if we choose to make it one which can happen when our expectations aren't met when after 3 games, it becomes a question of why haven't they?

Cheers!

When is that not the issue? When do we not make it so? We are here to cheer and jeer, praise and blame against the background of our expectations and very little else. How often must we prove it; more often than right now and every day?

It's not a fault, it's our nature. We are defined by our expectations and, for better or worse, more gently and accurately than does a label like fanatic.

Cheers!

Big Blue Huddle / Re: NGT How bout those Cowboys!!!

Is the horse named "NFL Predictability" dead yet, or do we need to beat on it for another week?

While it's always pleasing to see Dak and Girls lay an egg, and to fully appreciate that the J-E-T-S are once again "without a QB", it was the Broncos record-setting debacle that turned everything on its head.

It's not just that it made the Giants Week 1 game against the Cows seem competitive, it's the out of bounds bleakness of having the League's 2nd highest paid HC and a clearly fading QB also named Wilson but with a much, much higher price tag.

But then as the Broncs play DaBears next week, it should make predicting pretty much a 50/50. At least, somebody will finally win... if it doesn't end in tie.

Of course, it might also be said that Giants fans opinions should be muted at best given that Our Heroes 2nd worst points differential through 3 games falls right between that of the Broncos and Bears.

Cheers!

for one more week?

Chalk Talk / Re: Giants vs NFC East
September 02, 2023, 11:18:01 AM
That's a remarkable effort you have made, kingm56 which should be acknowledged before others here start to take exception based on their opinions presented as fact.

My personal view is that there is always too much uncertainty involving not just the NFC East but all teams, as they begin a new season, to support even our best guesses.

However, I can and will say that I am encouraged enough by the improvement in the Giants Management, Coaching, and overall Roster talent to support a feeling of some satisfaction and indeed optimism.

So, let's start the season and take it one game at a time until facts have a chance to catchup with our guesses and pre-analyses, one way or the other.

Cheers!

Rich, If not for durability concern, I assume Azeez Ojulari would be on your list with or without Carl Banks's enthusiastic backing. C'est vrai?

Quote from: spiderblue43 on August 04, 2023, 02:10:56 PMNeal was concussed  In the protocol to check him for further evaluation

That's all we know, no more, no less. That he may have suffered a concussion was not immediately obvious until he quite wisely to decided remove himself from practice.

As yet, we have no idea of the severity while the media already is in full voice speculating that he is likely to miss several weeks of practice, could potentially be ruled out for a significant part of the preseason with the Giants and their fans simply hopeful that he can return to take some reps before their regular season opener against the Cowboys. Woe to us all, eh?

Cheers! (How dare I say that.)

No one knows the Giants any better than does Ceri. There is no one whose views I take more seriously. Great job, Gents.

I am shocked and so saddened. I never met Tommee and yet I feel I've lost a friend in every other sense of the word.

Thank you, Lenn for learning of his passing and thus giving us the opportunity to express our belated condolences to his family and loved ones.

As is always the case with Ceri's insights, they are much less silly than seasonal.

Well done, Lads.

Giants History / Re: NFT: RIP JimV

It is something which make my heart ache. And what may have been the cause of Jim's death is both a painful reminder of my brother's earlier this year and what also could be thought to have been God's mercy.

Well done as always, Brian. And as I have made clear more than once, when reflecting on the upcoming Draft, there is no one whose insight I value more than that of Ceri Dovi. What is particularly evident this year is how much less certain he is, as are we all, in imagining who, and at what positions, the Giants will give priority in their first 3 or 4 selections.

Of course, that's not surprising when we consider that 25 will be their latest position from which to pick and only the 3rd of 8 to not have been among the first 12 (see OBJ in '14) during the past decade.

Not at all surprising is that among the now countless WAGs, the only Pick 25 consensus, if we can call it that, is for a WR- 3 names/ 3 different types and a nascent interest in an OC. Que sera, I hope they do everything possible in the first 2 Days to give DJ his best up-front chance for success.

Cheers!
