I haven't followed Baseball closely in many, many years but I suspect that if the Sainted Gil Hodges was the Manager in the Social Media Era there would be half the fans hating him too.

Nice discussion. Always interesting to hear how others saw the game.

I will say, you and Rich talked a bit about Berhe and how he played but I would argue Landon Collins had his worst game as a Giant. His decision to jump underneath Jackson on the long TD and then a poor angle on the Crowder 55 yard TD on the WR screen were the most under-reported bonehead plays in a game filled with bonehead plays. The Giants only gave up two big plays and Collins was the primary culprit on both. That's the game. Throw everything else out. That's the game, and I'm as big a supporter of Collins as anyone. This is his weakness. Berhe, like him or not, was the best Safety (in the truest sense of the position) on the field. I love Collins' aggressiveness but he can be beaten deep and that was the book on him coming out of college. It showed up Sunday and he - more than Eli, more than Vereen, more than Adams, - owns the biggest part in this loss.

I have no issue with Richburg and when you have a center 15 yards downfield making a block on a CB,..... man, I just loved it. Give me another helping of that. Penalize him. Fine him. I don't care, but start him the next game please. I loved it. Not all fouls are bad fouls. The smack talk to Norman after the play is something recievers do seemingly every play. It wasn't called on Richburg. It was called on the guy who taunted Norman who was being watched. Go Weston. As Agassi would say, attitude is everything.

Obviously I agree on Richburg. He was the one tossed and I said it was over the top and not justified. I also agree on Collins but we brought up Berhe because he was replacing a starter and it was in the injury discussion.

Jaime and Matt were our guests this week with Brian and Rich. Good stuff here. They did a nice job and at the end we gave Jaime a JimV warning on Eli as the Offensive MVP so far this season. Hope you can take the time to listen in. Better yet, we hope you enjoy it!

Chalk Talk / BBH Giants-Saints Podcast Game Review
September 19, 2016, 09:56:18 PM
Listen in on Frank (ShoelessJoe), Rich (MightyGiants) and Ed Vette as we discuss the game and try to answer some of the questions about this Giants Team and the Coaching Staff as it establishes it's identity in this young season. Brian (BigHitter) was unavailable for this episode but thanks to Frank and Rich who did a great job commenting on some tough questions. Every week we will invite a new guest. Let me know if you have any interest in being on the show.

A shout out to the BleedBlueShow and Emory Hunt of FootballGamePlan and in the last segment Rich talked about the excellent Draft Material that UkGiantsFan (Ceri) provides for the forum.

Technical stuff:  Turn down the intro music Ed.  Your voice is drowned out by the music.
Ed.. I can hear you okay but if you could speak into a mike closer to your mouth (an external one maybe?) you might sound more ??? proffesional? formal?...I don't know what the word is but if you could, it would improve your role as a moderator.

I felt that the end of the game was only a very minor kind of nail biter.  It must been that you fellas were keeping the memory of last year's last minute losses in your minds and maybe anticipating the worse...I had already moved on.  I have a lot of faith in Spagnuolo setting up the initial D and then making the adjustments.  And the offensive side is reliable so this performance was a little underwhelming with regard to it being spectacular but they won, it was a typical Giants/Cowboys game and a typical first game of the season.

A key component:  Eli to Beckham, Eli to Donnell, Eli to Cruz, Eli to Shepard.  That's what we have been dreaming of for a while.
Red zone success....that is something new
All the personnel improvements to the defense worked.
The first three rookie draftees played, a UDFA rookie played (Okwara).  Nobody failed the team other than the kicker and Eli and Shepard (once).

My expectation for the next game is that we will win and Brees will not have a lot of luck or good fortune to do what he did last year.  It would be good to score some more points, another TD would be nice.  Yep, 28 to 32 points would be dandy.

Gotta go.  It does take a while to listen and comment.  I have stuff to do.

I thought my voice was much louder than Rich and Brian and was going to move further away. Did anyone else think my voice was too light or unprofessional?

Chalk Talk / The Big Blue Huddle Podcast
September 13, 2016, 07:48:18 AM
I'm happy to announce our first podcast of the Big Blue Huddle. Rich and Brian and I put it together and it's a review of the Cowboys game and a preview of the home opener against the Saints. I also read Matt's game preview of the Saints game on the show because I thought it was very well done. We want you feedback. It's about 45 minutes long.

For future podcasts, I would like to invite one or two member call ins. We hope you enjoy it.

Thanks Al and Lenn. Al I have a question. Maybe I'm having a senior moment but I recall somewhere reading about moving in the hash marks for a preseason. Any recollection?
