The team was more confident with Taylor and he got rid of the ball faster. Attempts and make plays Jones doesn't. He doesn't score a ton of points but this was the ONLY game against a good team we were competitive .

Taylor is not the answer but he is much better in my opinion running the offense. Jones contract will go down as one of the worst ever

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Is the Daniel Jones Era Over?

I hope so.  Draft a QB and likely Jones is still the starter next fall because of that contract.  But I think they can get out of it in 2025.  IF they make the right moves in the offseason who knows, maybe Jones plays decently enough in early 2024 that he has some trade value.

Quote from: Rambo89 on October 09, 2023, 09:57:20 AMActually it does when you take a look at Trubisky's numbers his first four seasons in Chicago and compare them to Jones's.  Very similar.  Only difference is the Bears moved on from Trubisky and the Giants rewarded Jones.

As far as the personal shot at me making things up I am taking that as your frustration of being wrong on Jones.

That's how I see it.  Paying this amount of money to a weak passer is absurd.  It's not a personal attack, I said last spring they would regret and here we are. I have no personal animosity towards Jones, I just don't want to watch him in a Giants uniform anymore.  The way some people have supported him borders on delusional.

Tyrod was running for his life too, the line is horrendous, but that doesn't make Jones the answer.  I liked Tyrod in Buffalo and think people might be surprised with how the offense looks in coming weeks.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on October 04, 2023, 10:45:57 AMI liked Collins. We needed a QB badly and I wasn't sure about him when they signed him, but overall he did a very solid job for us at a time when we really needed someone to step up at the position.

Don't laugh at me, but I thought Baker or even Rodgers could have been brought in to do something similar this year.  I still somewhat feel that way, nvmd the Achilles, but this team does have myriad issues. I just think QB is the most glaring.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Can we talk about Joe Schoen too?
October 03, 2023, 08:19:49 PM
I seem to remember someone here speculating Mara was behind the new Jones contract.  Could that possibly be true?  If Schoen wanted to go a different direction and had this forced on him then everything else is irrelevant.

For as much as I want Jones out there are obvious other problems.  It's not like Jones is costing us close game.  My belief is it all starts at the most important position which affects everything else.  So I'm not firing Schoen just yet, but bright spots are hard to find right now.  Except for the top five pick coming our way.

Shocked, SHOCKED I tell you that defenses laugh at Jones!!  You mean it's not everyone else's fault.  Get used to these embarrassments with this QB.

I don't see him as broken because I never thought he was good to begin with. Run? Yeah very good, but no defense respects him as a passer nor should they. Very easy to attack and make the line look incompetent. No conversation for 2024 should include DJ unless he's a backup or a top draft pick is behind him for a month.

If you support Jones then you support more games like last night, Dallas, the Philly playoff game. See it for what it is, he tries hard but is not a competent passer except for a few games against bad defenses

This game might just mark the end of the Jones era.......or maybe that's wishful thinking.

Jones last game as a Giant can't come soon enough for me.  Yeah the OL has issues, but defenses have it so easy with Jones out there.  Rest of the team goes from there.

Gotta figure top five pick.

I'll just say it's likely the only place people will really defend Jones and find alternate reasons for not being competitive are here or other places like these boards.  We will never compete against the top third of the league and the league knows it.

Giants History / Re: Eli Manning appreciation thread
September 17, 2019, 04:27:35 PM
I love Eli and think he's irreplaceable basically.  I wish Jones success, but have my doubts.  However he is the right choice NOW to see if he can do it in the future.  I also can't pin this on Eli.

But I will say THANK YOU for my best ever football memories by far - I never thought it would be so fun to be a Giants fan.  And remember, 2 of the greatest catches in NFL history came from Eli.

Thank you for making us bELIeve.  Enjoy your family.
