Draft #1 for me.

I have quite a few "Doc Martin" episodes on the DVR, I just need to sit down and watch them. My sister turned me on to it, she loves it.

Funny, I just read an article stating the Vikings will be looking to sign Dak Prescott when he reaches free agency next season...

My answer is once again the Giants "addressed" it, but I don't think they fixed it. And that is why I would like to see our round 1 pick used on the O-line.

I like that he used to play Center.

Perfection. Each and every one of them.

"Keeping up with the Joneses" - at least that's what it used to be called.

So with the hoopla about the solar eclipse approaching let me ask....do any of you have plans to try and take any photos of it?
I'd be interested to hear any tips you might have and od course to see any shots you get of it.

I came in here to say the same thing, hiring Gettleman.

Quote from: Bob In PA on March 24, 2024, 07:17:24 AMLenn: To answer your question, we have about three acres of land which is ALL garden. Not just grass. It's like living in Longwood Gardens, but slightly smaller. lol  We "splurge" (mostly out of necessity) on the best garden tools, equipment, supplies and implements as are available. It's a lot of work but we've been able to keep up for about 25 years.
This sounds wonderful, Bob. I am envious!
To answer Lenn's original question, I would say the thing I splurge on the most would be buying tickets to live events, mostly concerts. We don't go to too many, but when it is something we really want to see or experience, I will bite the bullet and pay the price. I think the first real big time "Rock Concert" I went to, I paid $8.00 and had a great seat. The latest we went to cost us close to $100.00 a ticket and the seats were nowhere as good, HAHA!
(some shows we have paid even more than that)
My reasons for "splurging" on these events are first - it is good family time for us. Believe it or not, our kids enjoy the same music my wife and I do. Secondly - most of my favorite bands are really getting up there in years and you never know when it will be the last time you get to see them.
I'm sure there are other things I probably spend a bit too much on, but live events is the first thing that came to mind.

I personally would not. I don't think the Giants have enough draft picks to trade even one away. Still need to plug too many holes.
#72
I would still like to see something more on the right side of the O-line. Eluemunor is an upgrade, but I'm not counting on Neal for anything just yet. Would also like to see an upgrade at DT and in the CB spot.
I'm also not sold on our TE position, even if Waller returns.

Quote from: MightyGiants on March 19, 2024, 09:29:01 AMPlus, the league has failed to appreciate that teams need to be prepared to develop a QB.  An unprepared team is just wasting the talent of the QB they draft.
IMO, this I think is the biggest problem. Everyone wants a QB to succeed within their first two seasons. If they don't take their team to the playoffs, they are considered a "Bust" and the QB drafting carousel continues.
Green Bay has had Farve, Rogers (who sat learning behind Farve for about 3 seasons) and now Jordan Love (who sat learning behind Rogers for about 3 seasons) as their last three QB's. I don't think anyone in GB is complaining.
If you throw an inexperienced and obviously non-ready QB into the lineup and expect them to thrive most times you will be severely disappointed and your team is going to be in the cellar.
Patience is indeed a virtue when talking about QB's and more teams need to practice it if they want to be successful.

Quote from: kingm56 on March 19, 2024, 07:59:05 AMAs a Giants fan, I hope Jerry lives for 30+ more years and continues to run the Dallas Cowboys!

The recent draft success seem to be attributed to Stephen Jones...
Stephen & Will McClay. I was hoping the Giants would at least interview McClay when they were looking to hire a new GM both when they hired Gettleman & Schoen. (Not a knock on Schoen, I just think McClay has a good eye for talent).
I think a few teams requested interviews with McClay, but Dallas blocked them or just threw more $$ at him to keep him.

The Giants front office is a completely different animal from the one lead by Dave Gettleman & even Jerry Reese. Getty telegraphed every move he was going to make, telling the world he was in "Full Bloom Love" with DJ and that SB was "Touched by the hand of God". It surprised no one when he drafted them. He also let everyone know he targeted Devonte Smith, and was an easy target for Dallas & Philly to undercut him.
Reese let his intentions be known before draft day and was jumped a few times too for players he wanted, if I recall correctly. (Leonard Floyd comes to mind)
I like that Schoen plays things close to the vest and has people guessing which direction his draft will go. That is the way it should be. So, I think no one knows for sure what he thinks of DJ and his future with this team. A lot of smokescreen is a good thing leading up to draft day.
