Big Blue Huddle / Re: Take your pick
March 29, 2024, 01:29:03 PM
Both pretty even for me. My preference though is to trade down to around 18, get extra high picks, including a  second and a third this year, so instead we can come out with:

1- WR Ladd McConkey
2a- DL Darius Robinson or Braden Fiske
2b- CB Cool-Aid McKinstry or Mike Sainristil
3a- TE Ben Sinnott
3b- OT Roger Rosengarten

So by going for a WE prospect who is rated below the top 4 (but probably as good, if not better) we haul in 2 additional prospects who can be immediate upgrades

Count me as a believer in DJ. I just hope that through years of bad O lines and hit after hit, his mental and physical condition is not damaged for good. Through ineptitude, they were not fair to the kid... at least he got paid.

Neither... trade back if possible and take Ladd McConkey, plus another high pick or two... much higher value than one of those three imo.

so who is our backup Center?! Are they negligent again?
#65
One thing he has not had, is a decent O line to rely on

Big Blue Huddle / Re: What do you guys want at #47 ?

Quote from: JT39 on March 12, 2024, 10:55:03 AMThere's a ton of WRs in this draft worth exploring at 47. Guys like Laggette, Corley, maybe Mitchell, Worthy, McConkey, etc...

I really wanted Mitchell at 39, but that seems like a pipe dream for him to drop to 47. A 6'4 sub 4.4 guy is exactly we  need.

Ladd McConkey will go much higher than most think.. he will go in the 1st. On the 2nd tier I like Leggette and Corley.
If we go WR in the first, hopefully McConkey after a trade down to around 20, I would love to get a DT at 47, or with the compensation pick from our trading back, Sweat or Fiske can make our D line dominating.

With the next 3 picks, I want a TE (Sinnott) A swing tackle (Rosengarten) and an RB (Shipley or Davis), in that order.

Quote from: andrew_nyGiants on March 13, 2024, 02:28:17 PMTrade down twice from 6 and collect picks...probably get a #1 for 2025 out of it.

More picks to build the roster, and ammo to move up in '25 to get that QB

Logic like this does not have many fans here!
One point to add, for what it's worth, the QB prospects for 2025 are considered to be weak compared to this draft

What is the obsession for drafting a QB with our first pick, or even mortgage the rest of the draft and future to go up a bit... for who?
Have you guys checked the failure stats of high first round QBs?
It is either a DJ derangement syndrome or looking for excitement of drafting a new QB and have your fingers crossed that we hit on a Mahomes!! Even if you strike gold, he will be doomed also with the surrounding cast.

I don't like this.. the top spender in FA?!
I have always thought that teams should build through the draft, only the ones who don't know how to draft good players resort to overpaying their players and selling their draft capital.
Not good imo.

Who is most to blame?
Schoen and his scoutes for having no clue about O line talent and how to fix that unit.

Quote from: katkavage on March 08, 2024, 01:07:25 PMI just heard someone (a scout) say that he felt Penix was the second best behind Williams. That his accuracy is out of this world.

If he is so great, why did he fail so dismally in the championship game?!

How many amputations are we talking about?
How come this sad news is not talked about in the media?!

I would really like this upgrade at a vital position that may be difficult to improve through the draft, with so many other needs. If he can give us 2 years of high production so the other areas can get upgraded before having to address CB again.
#74
I would add to those, neglecting red flags on players; specially when a player injury history shows they might be too fragile for the NFL and the kind of hits they have to absorb.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Where Schoen Failed
March 10, 2024, 01:20:49 AM
I agree Schoen has failed in fixing the O line; however that is not for lack of effort; He has added and dropped multiple players through free agency, in addition to dedicating a high amount of draft capital to the position.
Certainly, when he, along with his coaches and scouts, were making each of those decisions, they were pretty certain about them; so why were they wrong?
Is it not simple to realize that they, collectively are weak in assessing O line talent?
To me it's clear as day; when they look at an O lineman, whether he is on their own roster, or a potential draftee or free agent acquisition, they lack the eye that many other teams have, in order to make the right decisions.
I just hope they have made some effective changes in their scouting of the position.
