Quote from: spiderblue43 on March 13, 2024, 07:27:02 AMBears WR Darnell Mooney got a 39- million deal from the Falcons. Geesh. He's a number 3 at best. Players making hay with the cap upgrade.

All the hate Slayton gets, makes him look like a bargain

Quote from: MightyGiants on March 13, 2024, 07:22:31 AMHe didn't make much of an impact on the Giants.  The contract seems generous.

I agree, would have liked to have kept him... but not at anywhere near those numbers

Getting him and Noches was supposed to help our run defense.... it did not happen

This helps our comp pick situation too right ?

I like the idea of RB by committee ... but I kind of hope Grey doesn't get buried again

Earth, WInd and Fire would be great

Quote from: PSUBeirut on March 13, 2024, 08:49:01 AMWhat was I saying?  It's pretty straightforward- you said look at the elite teams.  So I did.  And I saw 3 out of the 4 elite teams investing a lot of capital in the RB position- with 2 1st rounders (Gibbs, McCaffrey) and a newly acquired top RB originally drafted in the 2nd round (Henry).  And the other team could probably have you or me at RB and still get to the Super Bowl because they have Pat Mahomes.

I actually completely agree with the sentiment that not a lot of capital should be spent at the RB position- I just found it interesting that you said to look at the elite teams for proof of this thinking and the opposite actually exists.

Because the elite teams don't have major holes , they can top off their teams with high level running backs

Not trying to be a di** but I see your name is "PSU" are you mainly a Giants fan or Barkley fan ?

Before some say "He played more games and had less yards"  He also had 31 less carries ...31 X 4 YAC would have netted him 124 more yards and over 1k .... Thats not including any possible 10 + yard runs or anything

Availability is important as well

Quote from: katkavage on March 12, 2024, 11:53:09 AMThis scenario further delays a rebuild. Or...we stay in QB hell.

I WANT one of the TOP 3 QBs in this draft just seems unlikely

Yes we can reach for McCarthy , but if he ends up like Josh Rosen

We are far worse off then if we would have just drafted Nabers a #1 WR

I just simply don't think we should reach or give up the world .. not this year at lest

Quote from: Doc16LT56 on March 12, 2024, 11:30:02 AMSaquon should take a break from social media. He got his bag. He should just enjoy this accomplishment and stop reading the comments. It's not a good look for him. This reminds me of when LeBron signed with the Heat and leaned into the bad guy character. People aren't going to like you when you leave their team and that's fine. It's part of the business. He needs to grow up and let it go.

I agree, he did not post often prior unless it was like an ad or something or some kind of event. Now he cant get off of social media and is acting like a victim and sending subliminal at the Giants and those who are upset he left.

WHich is why I said he is going full Heel mode and acting like a scummy "Eagle". He went from being one of the good guys to someone whos acting everyone owes him something.

His farewell to the Giants and the fans was kind of dry too. X waited a day but he sounded more sincere

Quote from: JT39 on March 12, 2024, 11:11:25 AMKill,

If you notice around the league, a lot of very good WRs come after round 1. Especially in round 2.

AJ Brown
Metcalf
Adams
Higgins
Kupp
Nacua
Hill
Diggs
Samuel
Aiyuk
Allen
McLaurin

And I am sure there a few more. I understand your point on the two we got, but I think class is especially deep where many would usually go round 1 in any other year.

I agree with you... its possible

But I feel like the MHJ , Nabers are sure things

I would love to get Metcalf, Hill etc in the second. But we also risk getting another Wandale or Hyatt. Which like I said are good players. But I don't want to compliment a player with yet another complimentary player........

Its more about the CHANCE to me than anything. Just give me Nabers and build the team

Okay I think this is how the future QB situation with the Giants works out ... a few different possibilities:

1. The easiest, quickest and least of a headache solution .. one of the top 3 drops in this draft .... DJ is cut after this season and we have our QB of the future

2. These all blend together on how I am thinking. The top 3 QB's are most likely gone by 6 and I don't agree and hope they don't reach for a QB outside the top 3 at # 6. I think the Giants go WR at #6 and keep draft picks without trading up. Filling in other needs of the team

With a new O-line coach, some new pieces, maybe Neal moves to Guard or having upgrades next to him helps him improve at Tackle. Topped with a new (Hopefully better) O-line coach the unit as a whole is improved and good to the point where DJ fans cant excuse him anymore. Please note, I am one of those DJ fans so I am not making any digs.

DJ will most likely have to burden all the stress and pressure on his shoulders this season as he no longer has Barkley to lean on. This will lead to 3 possible outcomes that I see happening :

1. The DJ miracle situation, with a #1 WR drafted , better O-line. Wandale and Hyatt a year older and a year removed injury (Wandale). He looks like a legit QB , Waller not quitting and being decent is a bonus weapon at this point , chances of this happening <10%

2. Singleterry shows us the dropoff from Barkley is not that significant, all the other pieces added to the team actually improve the team as a whole but DJ is still the biggest question mark on the team. We either end up sneaking into the playoff or missing out but not top 5 in the draft. So Schoen now has no choice but to trade the first round pick and future assets to get into to position to draft whoever is the best QB or 2nd best QB in next years draft. Yes we give up a massive haul, but because we filled in holes this year via draft and (hopefully) successful free agent signings it will be OK because QB was the main piece anyways , and we fill in a few other pieces via free agency and whatever draft capital we have left. Chances 50/50.

3. The team completely sucks, draft picks are not impactful at least not this season. The free agent signings don't really move the needle with the O-line and Pass rush (at that point Schoen may be gone). This happens and we have top 5 pick in the draft anyways we draft a QB and have other picks to work with. Chances 50/50

These are just my thoughts on how I see things panning out

Unless we get lucky in this draft which is the hope. I think we should just build the team out and figure out the QB situation next season. I think we are more likely to trade up next years draft with a better built team then this draft.

And I know right now the QB prospects next season are nowhere near the quality of this years draft. But I feel like that is something that can and almost always changes.

Quote from: JT39 on March 12, 2024, 10:55:03 AMThere's a ton of WRs in this draft worth exploring at 47. Guys like Laggette, Corley, maybe Mitchell, Worthy, McConkey, etc...

I really wanted Mitchell at 39, but that seems like a pipe dream for him to drop to 47. A 6'4 sub 4.4 guy is exactly we  need.

OK if you want Receiver at 47 who do you want at 6 ?

My only issue with that is... I like Hyatt and Wandale.... and think they can be above average receivers but as #2 and #3 receivers

I get the feeling they NEED a true #1 Receiver to garner that attention to become above average

I feel like waiting for #47 gets us another receiver at the level of Wandale and Hyatt ..... I want more of a sure thing

But I could be wrong

I thought Waller stated he wanted to keep playing ... and Giants stated they wanted him back?

Did something else happen ?

Big Blue Huddle / What do you guys want at #47 ?
March 12, 2024, 10:50:47 AM
With #6 I want a bonafide #1 WR .... unless one of the top QB's drop

Im torn between Safety or DT (Specifically a run stuffing DT)

If a safety drops that would be great .... But do we just roll with Belton and see how he pans out ?

But damn I think I am leaning towards DT... We may have possibly built one of the best D-Lines in the league .... I think getting a DT next to Sexy Dexy who can stuff the line not only makes us successful in the trenches .... but doing so can help our secondary... the good ole spags mentality

With Williams gone, would not mind resigning Adore if the price is right
