Big Blue Huddle / Re: Giants Done with Daniel Jones?
March 05, 2024, 04:28:56 PM
Quote from: madbadger on March 05, 2024, 11:01:51 AMThey aren't going to stay with Jones past this year. In his short time in the NFL he has suffered multiple concussions, a broken collarbone, multiple sprained ankles, two significant neck injuries, one that resulted in surgery and a torn ACL. There is no way they want to move forward with a guy who can't make it through a full season without suffering a serious injury. His contract ensures he'll be on the roster this year but he was given his golden parachute by Mara and the writing is on the wall.

i think them being "done" with him, has more to do with what you just mentioned than anything else.

Quote from: katkavage on March 05, 2024, 11:11:06 AMMany good receivers in this draft. And they have Hiatt who could develop. Adzune is very good but QB is a much greater need.

rather take a bonafide stud at WR at 6 than a question mark qb who will most likely fail.

Could be a smokescreen to get another team to trade up and snag a qb. i still see most mocks saying we are taking a receiver whether it be nabers or odunze. i see jj going late 1st round... wouldnt be opposed to trading back up for him. but we need instant playmaker at 6. not a guy who's going to sit most or all of this year and who's position has a very high failure rate. we need to absolutely smash this pick.

absolutely. the halftime show slows things down enough. game should be at 4 oclock.

It does, but it also shows 3 or 4 pro bowl or close to that level guys in the bottom 10 as well. granted they have elite receivers. maybe theres more to that than meets the eye.

Big Blue Huddle / another terrible game from kafka

raise your hand if you are able to tell exactly what we are going to do on 3rd/4th and shorts. its SO obvious. like really? how do you not block reddick on not one but TWO short calls. how is it that EVERY other team in the league has guys open all over the field, yet we never do? if we even complete a pass the guy gets tackled instantly. i get he's not working with much. but come on man. its just so brutal.

Quote from: BluesCruz on December 25, 2023, 08:06:11 PMWhats with McFadden.....he could not tackle my grandmother today

Ughhhhh

They should give Coughlin a start next week.  The guy hits hard and is a sure tackler

he started out the season the same way. he is one of the worst rated tacklers in the league. yeah he makes some big plays, but he needs to get better at tackling. and mckinney can walk. dude is a walking missed tackle.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: So how do we collect the pieces

Quote from: Torus34 on December 26, 2023, 07:18:23 AMYesterday's game with the Eagles showed two QB's who can take the club to a solid, mid-level place next year. Coaching for Mr. Thomas DeVito and judicious use of Mr. Tyrod Tailor will get that particular dog walked.

Mr. Danial Jones should be sold off to the highest bidder ASAP. That will put some bread in the salary jar.

Drafting should center on a couple of receivers who can take some of the pressure off Mr. Saquon Barkley. Even his superb durability has a limit.

Finally, see if there's any really weak spot in the defensive squad to fix.

Go flag-free, Big Blue!

who is giving up anything for jones coming off an acl and a brutal performance for the few games he did play? its unrealistic. hes going to be qb1 next year with a very short leash.

Quote from: killarich on December 25, 2023, 08:33:14 PMI'm fine with this ..but I still think WR1 is a must

We don't have a consistent threat

One week it's Hyatt, one eeek Robinson then one week Slayton

We need someone is always a threat to consistently make the mentioned 3 a consistent secondary threat also

robinson is so 1 dimensional. underneath slot guy. and thats fine. you need that guy. but you saw yesterday what a big body posession guy can do. robinson is not a downfield threat at all.

each qb that has played this year for us has taken MASSIVE amounts of pressure at some point or another. they have little stretches of decent protection. but overall, i think i heard we are on pace to be second worst all time in sacks given up. idc who the qb is. you will never succeed with a stat like that. average teams give up what? 15-25 sacks a year? we are on pace for over 80. its almost unfathomable.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Is ORT A Position Of Need?
December 23, 2023, 08:28:53 AM
why do i get the feeling that if/When they finally switch neal to guard he becomes a pro bowl level talent? the fact they havent done this yet is mind boggling. you have to put your guys in position to succeed. we wont even try it.

yeah we are going to get thoroughly embarrassed. It would be a great christmas gift, but lets be real. it'll probably be a 30-3 game.

Quote from: TONKA56 on December 22, 2023, 05:17:13 PMThat would be really weird and unfortunately if true would confirm our worst fears about Mara Meddling.

how so?

Quote from: TONKA56 on December 22, 2023, 07:47:36 AMAnd the presentation of the prospects at each position is great. My only beef is that they allow so many pop ups it makes the website very buggy and freeze ups and browser crashes are unacceptably common.

yesssssssssssss. before i got a new computer it would crash my whole system. totally agree.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on December 22, 2023, 07:22:05 AMSadly I have to concur. I was very high on him coming out of last year. He really impressed me late last year. I know he is not fast but he brings other skills to the table.

I'm not sure what the issue with him is this year, but he simply isn't being utilized. Maybe that's his fault, maybe it's the QBs' fault, or maybe Daboll/Kafka just haven't involved him as much for any number of possible reasons.

But to illustrate the stark drop-off in usage: last year he was targeted 42 times in just eight games. This year he has played in all 14 games but has only been targeted 28 times. That's an enormous drop-off. It surprises me given they had success throwing to him last year.

the way he came on last year i was like hey maybe we got our #1. i'd be surprised if he's on the roster next year.
