Quote from: Ed Vette on February 16, 2024, 01:14:01 PMNo QB in this draft reads the defenses and progressions better than Drake Maye and he's the best most accurate deep passer too. His footwork will need consistency at the mext level.

No passer throws with greater touch and anticipation than Daniels and he's a legitimate comparison to Hurts and more of a scoring threat than Jackson. His arm is just adequate not great.

Williams is short and there have been many his size that have struggled at this level. Tua is an exception. He's not a pocket passer and is best moving.

You all can have your opinions about McCarthy. I didn't say he would fail, I said it's difficult to evaluate him. He averaged 22 passes a game... Twenty Two! Just wrap your heads around that. 22 touchdowns for an effective game manager.

And they won every game and I am sure he stopped throwing in a lot of blowouts. Would you be throwing late in games with a lead or try to run the clock out?

Why is Maye more NFL ready? He regressed last year and Daniels had only one good year of college - and that type of game he played is different than then NFL style.

I like Williams and feel he can come right in and play since he had 3 really good years of college play.

But McCarthy probably can read defenses better than all the other QBs so he has a big advantage.

Quote from: MightyGiants on February 14, 2024, 08:25:15 PMDid you write that letter to Mara, Ed?  =))

Someone from another Giants site did.

20 QBs could easily do what he does.

6 all pros on offense
A very good defense
Very good offensive head coach

Will never have the arm strength or athleticism to be elite. Once his rookie deal is done - 49ers are better moving on.

Deebo down.

SF was complaining about the field all week. And may have lost two key guys.

Nothing. A battle of cancer/colitis with chemo tomorrow means no food for me.

Mahomes without Reid, Hill, and Kelce and having McAdoo, our OL, and our GM are two completely different players.

McAdoo is one of the worst coaches in our history.

If you look into the playoffs - the position that has been impressive has bee the TEs:

Kelce is Kelce
Kincaid is very good and very under utilized
Laporta is an absolute beast
Njokou - is a very godd TE for Cleveland
The Texans TEs each scored in the first week
Lively is a back up that could start on many teams in the NFL
Kittle is an All-Pro.
Jake Ferguson had 3 TDs.
Friermuth had a big game.

I may be even forgetting more. But knowing we have a guy who gets injured on a daily basis and useless backup, its very discouraging.

Can't forget Bobby Slowick. There's a reason he's going to be a hot commodity when the Texans are done.

A Qb has peaked at age 20?

I think people look solely at stats and judge a QB that way.

I don't know what to make of McCarthy but his attributes...

Strong arm
Athletic
Accurate
Makes winning plays (see Alabama and Washington game)

Those tend to be good things teams look for. He's not a perfect prospect. But are we really downgrading him cause they won games (15-0) by running the ball? I guess seeing him throw 50 times against no defense is a better metric?
