I said "21st century"
the rules back then were also different

Quote from: AYM on March 11, 2024, 11:22:06 PMIf we fix the offensive line, it will be a better offense even if Daniel Jones is still the QB.fixing the oline does not make our running game any better without Saquon. This will easily be a bottom 5 run team especially without Jones's running being effective bc of injury.
Quote from: uconnjack8 on March 11, 2024, 09:07:26 PMKayvon is entering year 3. They have him under contract through 2026 if they want.
Quote from: files58 on March 11, 2024, 10:39:17 PMIncomplete. He inherited dreck with limited $ resources to begin an immediate, slow turnaround. Surprise, they made the playoffs, and won a game. Everyone has to know that Schoen/Daboll had their own objective scouting reports on Jones when leaving Duke, and all the tape you need afterwards. I would like to know what they really thought, and think. Mara steps up and throws a cup of salt in the soup, not a tablespoon. I'll say it again the 2yr out is a compromise. We don't know what happens in the executive suite, but it wouldn't surprise me if now Mara has agreed to back away, and let Schoen do his thing. I can only hope. Barkley is gone, Jones will be next unless he morphs into a real QB. So now to today. Before this afternoon Schoen was being led out to the town square by some here. After lunch things seem to change. Schoen signed two guards who have to be better than what was here, acquired a pass rusher considered to be elite, and a familiar RB to be part of a committee in DABOLL'S offense. He made an attempt to fortify both sides of the LOS. That's how you win in the NFL, at the LOS. It was a good day. Let's let Schoen do his thing.
Quote from: spiderblue43 on March 11, 2024, 11:08:10 PMHa ha. You don't know anything. Calm yourself. Been plenty worse in my lifetime.
Quote from: kingm56 on March 11, 2024, 10:57:41 PMExactly Andrew; a 26 year old edge can absolutely be considered part of a full rebuild; if all goes well, and the Giants get the QB right, they can be competitive in 2-years, which Burns will only be 28. If they don't get the QB right, non of it matters anyway...
Quote from: Stringer Bell on March 11, 2024, 10:50:03 PMThere's just no way you can draft someone as high as #6 and then change their position. LT and RT are not interchangeable.
Quote from: Brooklyn Dave on March 11, 2024, 10:10:35 PMI am probably still in the minority , but I think we should draft Alt and look for a WR in the second round even though we now only have 1 second round pick.
Quote from: JT39 on March 11, 2024, 08:59:20 PMI enjoy how many different ways you bash Jones with different thread titles.
Using caps doesn't make you look smarter by the way. Or even to be taken seriously.
Quote from: killarich on March 11, 2024, 08:17:41 PMI was pissed as f*** we lost Barkley and Im not happy about the way he's acting
BUT
Upon further thought I feel like today has become more of a WIN than a loss
Why?
Losing Saquon sucks yes... but we just simply cant afford to pay a RB that much money
Losing McKinney sucks no matter how much you try to spin it... but the cost was really high
Now lets look at the incoming moves
We signed two midlevel Linemen, while not splashy ..... just the possibility of them being an upgrade is something we can look forward too... We also have a new O-line coach that in itself may have improved the O-line without the upgrades
Singleterry on the surface is no Barkley not even close ... BUT he does average 4 YAC .... Now lets say the O-line does have some form of magical improvement to lets say the middle of the pack ... is Singleterry behind a decent O-line really going to be felt that much over an often injured Barkley behind a terrible O-line who only ran for 900 yards ? IDK the trade off may be worth it
Then the obvious Burns... we essentially traded Williams and moved back 8 picks for Burns... crazy deal but absolutely worth it
Whoever we have at safety can hopefully have an easier job with Burns and Thibs wreaking havoc causing opposing teams QB's to throw it away
Azeez should also benefit as he is now only needed situationally and can hopefully keep fresh legs and less chance of injury
While I want a QB I rather the Giants not reach and just draft someone like Nabers unless one of the 3 QBs drop
I think the building blocks are better off now
Quote from: uconnjack8 on March 11, 2024, 08:21:00 PMLooking at those pass blocking grades I would guess they have someone else in mind for 3rd down.'
Quote from: sxdxca38 on March 11, 2024, 07:54:20 PMThe Giants had the 25th ranked defense last year, giving up 23.9 ppg. The issues were far more than just the QB position, and having just an average does not guarantee the playoffs.and why do you think they had such a bad defense? Because the OFFENSE was never on the field.
