People who I am a big Yankees fan always ask me could jeter get the hit record from Rose.  I set down and do the math and then I look at his advancing age...and can he keep up the pace he has set this year....and I doubt it.

But then, I just throw  all the math out and figure wait and see.
Jeter is just a SPECIAL player, yes he is that special.
I am saddened by the thought that his career will ever end.

GO:   Thats the way I look at him.    As you say the math isn't there but with Jeter who knows.   If he can stay healthy it wouldn't surprise me if he at least gave it a pretty good push.    Time will tell.

I was going to post something when he did it but didn't get around to it.   Congrats to DJ on becoming only the 2nd player in major league history to put together 17 consecutive seasons with at least 150 hits.   Hank Aaron being the other one.    Pretty good company I would say.

GO:    I pretty much agree with you.   I was never quite comfortable with the Yankees decision to make him a starter.  He was dominating coming out of the pen and he seemed to have a relief picture mentality more so then a starter.   Unless there is something physical that has not been publicized I think he still has the tools.  He has to get his confidence and swagger back.  And most important be able to back up that swagger.

Ed:   we should be all set on the canopies.    Wendy will probably have both of ours.   If not she will have 1 and we will have 1.

I think we can finish off the folding tables.   Wendy said she could bring 2 and Cindy and I will have 1 so that should take care of the tables.

For Friday night dinner at the Barnsider:

Jim & Marie
Paul & Joyce
Wendy

Is someone going to reserve space at the restaurant for everyone?

Jim:   Wendy will not be there for the Friday night diner.    She will be there for Saturday.

Cindy, Adam and I will be there for the bbq on the 5th and for practice's on the 6,7, and 8th probably leaving the 9th.   We will be staying at the Days Inn on Western Ave right across from SUNY Albany and next to Across the Street Pub.   If anyone wants to get together let me know.

Ed:   If we need 3 canopies and no one signs up for the 3rd I might be able to bring an extra one.   We have one that we used at the Bills/Giants tailgate and the wind messed it up a bit.   But I think it is serviceable.  Let me know.

I bit off topic I know but bringing up Mel Triplett made me think of Lew Alcindor/Kareem Abdul Jabbar.  Through out his career he wore number 33.  The reason was his favorite football player as kid growing up was number 33, Giant fb Mel Triplett.

I really don't have an opinion on who was their greatest RB but I will throw in a couple of thoughts.    Good catch by Joey on Ron Johnson.   This guy gets over looked a lot when the subject of the top Giants RB's comes up.   He played on some very poor Giant teams but he gave them some credibility and respect.

And I am glad that some of the folks here are giving Gif his due.   Many younger fans would look at his career stats and brush him off but he was so talented.   He was Paul Horning before Paul was.

And as far as OJ Anderson is concerned.   I have said this many times before.   It gets to me that when the subject of players who are not in the HOF but should be he is missing from most peoples lists.  At the time of his retirement he was something like 4th or 5th   in the neighborhood anyway in all time rushing yardage.  But shortly after his retirement several backs flew by him.    But I'd take this guy on my team any day.
