Quote from: MightyGiants on February 09, 2024, 09:40:18 AMThis is why it's not a good idea to start a second thread on the same topic.

The original thread has this:

https://giantsfans.net/message_board/index.php?msg=939971

You act like it never happens on this forum. How many topics on the senior bowl were there all over the first page at the same time? A topic for each day practice!

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Wink has a new job

First point. It's disgusting that a coach who is not the head coach can make this much money coaching so called student athletes at an institute for higher learning while the student there to learn are saddled with 100K in student debt loans. But whatever no one seems to cares. That being said Wink badly miscalculated his worth in the NFL. I do wonder if his reputation has taken a hit.

Quote from: JT39 on February 09, 2024, 08:52:21 AMThe question is would Mahomes have the capability to start over Tommy Devito?

No. This is not a serious question anyone would ask.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Shane Bowen our new DC

Quote from: files58 on February 07, 2024, 11:09:36 AMWe could have Atilla the Hun as DC yet it won't matter if players tackle like tinkerbell. The state of tackling on the Giants is horrendous. From the shoulders on down I want the opposing offensive playmakers to think they've been hit by a semi. I don't care if we get flagged all the way down the field. Hit hard, clean, and INTIMIDATE.

Agree 100% and I asked if it was coaching of the players just suck at tackling. Adoree seemed to be alergic to open field tackling and just prayed he could push the ball carrier out of bounds. Nukea of the Rams completely exposed his flawed technique. Hopefully Bowen fixes this.

Quote from: kingm56 on February 09, 2024, 01:09:24 AMThe same Alex Smith who was replaced by two franchise's that went to the SB the season following his departure?  The fact that Alex Smith is his bar has been the issue for the last 5 years.  DJ would also have to significantly improve his production to even hit this bar, which is unlikely in Year 6.

Technically Smith was still with the 49ers when they lost to the Ravens in the Super Bowl. He got injured in 2012 and Kaepernick took over and Harbough made the switch permanent so Smith backed him up the rest of the way. The following season he was traded to the Chiefs.

Quote from: brownelvis54 on February 07, 2024, 10:14:22 PMI never said I wanted him to sit on the bench. Not once did I say that. I was just mentioning that there are some very good running backs that sat on the bench for a year or so. My answer to Ed was basically I don't know much about Gray. I think it's fair to say most New York giant fans don't know much about gray perhaps with Barkley leaving this upcoming season. It'll give gray, and possibly any other running back or running backs a chance to show they can shine.

Not anymore. If a RB is not in the mix by the middle of his 2nd season he will most likely not last in the NFL. Even back in the day the Giants gave significant snaps to George Adams, Lewis Tillman, Dave Meggett and Rodney Hampton as rookies. In fact Joe Morris is the only future RB star I can think of that sat and learned for a few season before emerging. So if the Giants believe in Gray it will have to happen next season.

Quote from: babywhales on February 07, 2024, 03:36:40 PMShould have been traded last season prior to trade deadline, and then again this year.

Letting picks walk away is a missed opportunity, especially for a team rebuilding.

You think the Giants would have traded their starting RB after starting 6-2 in 2022?
The Giants have been walking away from their draft picks for over a decade. You can count on 1 hand the ones they have extended.

Quote from: brownelvis54 on February 07, 2024, 03:51:47 PMIt's really hard to say. Didn't a few of the New York Giants, running backs in the past sit for a few years before they emerged? I hope the same for gray.

I have, however, given up on Brightwell being anything

Why do you want Grey to keep sitting on the bench when the rest of the league has day 3 RBS playing right away. Pachaco was a 7th round pick in 2022 and is a now a beast for the defending champs who are back in the SB. Kyron Williams was a 2022 5th rounder who became the Rams #1 by year 2.

Quote from: uconnjack8 on February 06, 2024, 09:26:55 PMIs McKinney's score 87.8?  I dont know if I remember him scoring that high in any game.

That's because the narrative on this board was that he was overrated, shouldn't be a captain and was a dead man walking after his ATV accident cost him a month the prior season. It's easy to overlook a player when your have a preconceived notion of him.

I am not saying this was done by you.

Quote from: LennG on February 06, 2024, 07:42:36 PMWas OBJ just another WR?

Absolutely not. He was on track to be our best WR ever and a rare 3 time pro bowler at a position we once went 41 years without a single one.

Maybe they shouldn't have allowed the extra COVID year unless the player chose to sit out the entire season. It seems crazy that some players need 6 years to finish a 4 year degree anyway. Yes I know some do graduate work which is nice.

Quote from: MightyGiants on February 06, 2024, 02:16:34 PMTo the point in bold.  McAdoo will be a SENIOR assistant.  That is a title used for coaches who take on a mentor/advisor type role as opposed to just an assistant coach, which is usually the coach stuck doing all the lesser tasks like breaking down film and scouting upcoming opponents.

Don't feed the trolls.

Quote from: MightyGiants on February 06, 2024, 12:12:45 PMBack then the talent pool was only being split 28 ways as opposed to today's 32 ways

So what. Back then the USA population was 250 Million compared to 335 Million in 2023.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: How are we at Safety?

Just my monthly reminder that the Giants have not extended or resigned a safety that they had previously drafted since Shawn Williams in 2002.

Quote"It kind of started like that," Toney said. "In the process of that, I got interrupted so it got like a mixed message behind it, I guess you could say. Then, a lot of footage got chopped up in the release, so it made it like I was attacking doing what I love the most. . . I never attacked the Chiefs, never said anything about the Chiefs. Who I was referring to was the Giants fans and the people in my comment box, not even on my live recording, so you wouldn't even know they were there. But I was referring to them, which I shouldn't have. I just wanted to go out there. I just wanted to get my message across as far as my injury, but I shouldn't have did that at the end of the day.

"I'm a man, and I can accept my mistakes just like I can accept my wins. But I'm just moving past it right now. We're heading out. We're just trying to win."

Funny how he instantly starts using complete sentences and sounds reasonable when the media has mics in front of him and he is in damage control mode after speaking like a 6 year old on his social media.
