it was definitely bad. and again, a winnable game for most of the game. I dont think we have been playing great lately, just very lucky with turnovers. and we had none this game. we are not good enough to overcome other teams beating themselves. we have a lot of work to do.

they are the bullies of the nfl. they are damn good and they know it. they are the media darlings.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on December 22, 2023, 07:33:36 AMMe three. I've been a regular reader of the site for at least a decade. I agree that many dislike him and/or his site, and by no means do I think he's always right or some foremost unquestioned authority, but I do like a lot of his takes, and I think Charlie Campbell is one of the better (if not the best) draftniks out there. He is made enough great calls over the years for me to consider it a meaningful sample and, as a result, take his opinions pretty seriously.

they just seem to be incredibly detail oriented, and non biased. its hard to find that. almost robotic in terms of their assessments.

Quote from: LennG on December 18, 2023, 10:09:14 PMI don't say Jones because I never expected anything from him besides mediocre so why be disappointed when he achieves that.

I know the thread says player and that has to be Neal, but if I could I would send a huge vote in for Daboll. There hd e been way too many games this year when the Giants just weren't prepared to play or were just lazy in their play and that is all on the head coach. He has also been out coached far too many times by mediocre coaches.
He shone last year but this year he needs to feel the heat. He has been just awful as a motivator and as a game time head coach.

i agree about daboll. at the end of the day, given all position coaches, personnel, its still his job to get it all in order. i think one thing a great coach does it make great adjustments. so far, he seems incapable of doing that. he deserves another year, but if we dont see some serious improvements in terms of preparation and effort next year, his seat will be red hot.

I think walter football is the best website for such things. They are usually very accurate

Quote from: President Rick on December 21, 2023, 04:59:36 PMEd beat me to it,,,Hodgins.  He plays hard, catches the ball and doesn't just fall down when hit.  He's a gamer.  I wish he would get more time and throws.

ehhhh. dude is invisible. he constantly ranks as one of the worst WR in the league. i had high hopes for him but he just ghosted this year.

Quote from: jgrangers2 on December 21, 2023, 12:37:41 PMI said this about Daboll a few weeks ago when people were calling for his head, but too many people get overly focused on a coach's or a coordinator's inability to get around personnel issues. The ability to make  poor talent look mildly competent is not a useful skill in the long run.

This O-line is bad, our receiving corps is mediocre and we've had to go with 2nd and 3rd string QBs for most of the year. Expecting this to look like anything more than a bad offense is just unrealistic. Coaches can only do so much to overcome bad personnel.

normally i would agree, but when we have a bunch of guys that go to other teams and look functional, or sign guys from other teams that were functional, and come here and look absolutely awful... how much can you blame on the personnel?

Quote from: jgrangers2 on December 21, 2023, 01:04:51 PMJason Pinnock. I feel like he's always making plays and is a very good pass rusher when he's asked to do so.

he needs to work on tackling. but he looks good overall, very good at rushing the passer and can make some plays in coverage. he'll be a good one.

Dexter Lawrence. dude is a top 15 player in the league, maybe higher. and because he does not put up gaudy sack numbers, he flies under the radar.

It just seems to me he repeatedly slams his head against a wall. no creativity. no adjustments. doesnt take advantage of matchups. There was a play on 3rd down last week where it was OBVIOUS the saints were sending the house. i mean zero underneath coverage. and what do we do? basically send out 1 receiver. where is the hot route? every other team seems to be able to manage having a safety valve. we never, ever, ever have that. why does barkley not have 50+ catches? its just mind boggling. So many times i see route patterns where EVERY receivers back is to the qb 15-20 yards downfield. Stick route? curl route? nothing? i am totally amatuer in this area, but even i can identify that if your line cant block, you dont call a 20 yard comeback route on 3rd and 6. its maddening.

i only voted no because i want him fired 2 months ago.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on December 19, 2023, 05:34:41 PMThey play in the NFL, it's not flag football. I can't believe this is a thread as we got the bogus bellinger call. Yes devitos head hit the ground but the other player didn't hit his head. He lead with his body not his helmet.

i also thought they non called it to make up for the bellinger call.

Quote from: BluesCruz on December 19, 2023, 04:34:20 PMAlso DeVito slung to the ground...I was suprised he got up and was seemingly ok

That was a gross travesty.  Saints player should have been ejected, fined and 15 yds from the spot of the foul

I dont care what you think of DeVito but what would have happened if that was Tom Brady?

DeVito was well into his slide when hit

They targeted DeVito

The game was 7-6 when that happened and afterward the Giants fell apart

Strahan commented fter the game that he didnt get the call because he was a rookie????  What friggen difference does that make?   They were targeting, and calling him Paisano all game- should have gotten unsportsman like for those taunts too

Hometown Refs

the first thing i said was if that was brady theyd have called that.

Quote from: MightyGiants on December 17, 2023, 09:08:45 AMSurprised there were no mentions of Josh Ezeudu.  A high 3rd round pick on a guard usually gets a team a solid starter.

To be fair he was playing out of position most of the few games he played.

Quote from: BluesCruz on December 17, 2023, 04:35:17 AM#1.    Daniel Jones-  Obvious- not a starter, should be a backup.  Got paid and regressed
Does not possess a natural feel for QB and not able to rally the troops

Honorable Mentions

Evan Neal-  Did anyone bother to ask if he could block before drafting
Paris Campbell-  Riche James replacement Ugggg. My Vote for worst Free Agent pickup of Century
Saquon Barkley- Overpaid, Cannot get the tough yards- not his fault he is not rotated
Tyrod Taylor- Overpaid, Handing a victory to the Bills, an injury looking to happen
Jason Pinnock- Should learn to wrap up a runner, poor tackling, good pass defender
Waller- should spend some time before games getting those hammies massaged by the training staff

All these but Pinnock should be cut or traded.  Jones can be #1 Backup to DeVito next year if we cannot find a willing trader

Pinnock needs to get batter at tackling, but he looks promising.
