DeVito starting this game says something about the direction someone wants this team to head. 

The Bears have won a game with a rookie Division II QB.

Other than a mirage 6-1 start, what has Daboll done to earn a 3rd year? His offense stinks, the defense stinks, the offensive line is miserable, and he's looking pretty much the same as Judge, just without the press conference meltdowns.

The argument I've heard boils down to "we can't continue firing guys after their 2nd year".

But if we're bad enough to go QB in the first round, we're back on the carousel with a rookie QB and a coach on the hot seat. If we're going to start over at QB, let's start over at least with HC as well so their clocks are aligned and the franchise gets some direction.

Then if that coach and QB fail, we dump them and Schoen. I think that's the most reasonable scenario right now.

EDIT: I wouldn't fire anyone but the OL coach midseason though.

Even if he goes on and is successful elsewhere, he clearly doesn't want to be a Giant. Let him go.

I'd rather have Simmons on the roster, at least he seems like he wants to be here.

He just doesn't seem like the type of guy Mara would allow to be the face of the franchise.

I don't think much of Daboll right now, I think he's a 6-1 start followed by Joe Judge level coaching.

That being said, losing this locker room is no big deal, most of them need to go anyway.

You don't want to reach for a QB in that spot, either. There are plenty of players I'd rather have than Trey Lance, for example.

 

No, if anything the Giants probably trade Tyrod Taylor.

Take Harrison. Figure out the other stuff later.

Thus again the idea that the Giants are basically the same as the Lions (teams that won in the 50s and collapsed afterward due to inept ownership), except we were lucky enough to have LT and Eli save us from ourselves, and the Lions were not.
