On my NC Time Warner TV at 1:00PM today the Yankees are on ESPN for Opening Day. CC is the starting pitcher. First time the Yankees are opening in March.
Of course, all depends on the weather.
Still worried about the Giants and their season, but right now it's Opening Day again for my Yanks. I've watched then for over six decades and I can't wait for 1 PM to roll around.

I agree absolutely with your opinion about Andy.
As I said above, "you were the second best lefty I ever saw wear those great Yankee pinstripes".
Of course, Edward Charles "Whitey" Ford was the best lefty I ever saw pitch on the Yankees. Actually, he was the BEST Yankee pitcher I ever saw over the past SIXTY years.

A female CNN journalist heard about a very old Jewish man who had been going to the Western Wall to pray, twice a day, every day, for a long, long time.
So she went to check it out. She went to the Western Wall and there he was, walking slowly up to the holy site.
She watched him pray and after about 45 minutes, when he turned to leave, using a cane and moving very slowly, she approached him for an interview.
"Pardon me, sir, I'm Rebecca Smith from CNN. What's your name?
"Morris Feinberg," he replied.
"Sir, how long have you been coming to the Western Wall and praying?"
"For about 60 years."
"60 years! That's amazing! What do you pray for?"
"I pray for peace between the Christians, Jews and the Muslims."
"I pray for all the wars and all the hatred to stop."

I think most of us must have some Irish in us (my wife's name is Catherine Helen, her father was a large Irish homicide Lt. in Queens, NY and the family enjoyed drinking a hell of a lot, with cousins and other relatives who also were cops, firemen, a nun, a priest and yes, alcohol was a heaven sent drink).
IN AN IRISH FAMILY---
WHAT IT MEANS TO BE IN AN IRISH FAMILY
1) You will never play professional basketball.
2) You swear very well.
3) At least one of your cousins is a fireman, cop, bar owner, funeral home owner or holds political office. And you have at least one aunt who is a nun or uncle who's a priest.
4) You think you sing very well.
5) You have no idea how to make a long story short!
6) There isn't a big difference between you losing your temper or killing someone.
7) Many of your childhood meals were boiled. Instant potatoes were a mortal sin.
8) You have never hit your head on a ceiling.
9) You spent a good portion of your childhood kneeling in prayer.
10) You're strangely poetic after a few beers.
11) Some punches directed at you are from legacies of past generations.
12) Many of your sisters and/or cousins are named Mary, Catherine or Eileen and there is at least one member of your family with the full name of Mary Catherine Eileen.
13) Someone in your family is very generous. It is more than likely you.
14) You may not know the words, but that doesn't stop you from singing..
15) You can't wait for the other guy to stop talking before you start talking.
16) You're not nearly as funny as you think you are, but what you lack in talent, you make up for in frequency.

22) 'Irish Stew' is a euphemism for 'boiled leftovers.'
23) Your skin's ability to tan not so much. (Only in spots!)
24) Childhood remedies for the common cold often included some form of whiskey.

26) At this very moment, you have at least two relatives who are not speaking to each other. Not fighting, mind you, just not speaking to each other.

One of the greatest Eagles of alltime (a Hall of Famer). Probably one of the last living Eagles with an NFL Championship (1960).
And for all you younger ones, Mr. Bednarik was the player who (legally) tackled our great Hall of Famer Frank Gifford and knocked him out of football for about 18 months.

I too just expressed my sympathies to his family via the guestbook Vette posted.
I had not read about Evan until a few minutes ago. I'm just shocked and extremely upset and sadden. My condolences and prayers to his family.

Lived in Baldwin, LI for Jr. High and Levittown, LI for high school (where I met my wife who lived in Seaford. We both went to Island Trees HS). Long Islanders all.
My best friend in HS had a girl friend Diane Herman who lived in West Babylon.
