Quote from: Messiah717 on November 20, 2024, 08:27:10 PMHe hasn't really done too much.  Their tight end Otton was the target monster and their used their three running backs heavily as well.  Mostly White and Irving.

About 5 targets/game over the last month

Guessing Sterling Shepard will still be playing a prominent role like he has over the last several weeks.

Quote from: TDToomer on November 20, 2024, 02:33:14 PMHockey certainly is. You only have to wait 3 years from retirement to get in and few stars need to wait years to get in. Baseball is the least diluted since they use a percentage system meaning some years as little as 1 player gets inducted. The list of great players not inducted is endless and that doesn't include
the cheaters.

I thought baseball didn't have a limit on any given year.

Btw, there are plenty of cheaters in the baseball hall.  Pretty sure in my lifetime I saw guys get kicked out of games for doctoring balls and then get into the HOF.

The NFL limits the number to 5/year.  After a certain amount of time players can get in via a separate pool.

I feel like the Football HOF is the only one that isn't diluted.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Some cap math on DJ's release

Quote from: EDjohnst1981 on November 18, 2024, 03:17:15 PMSo the post-June cut looks best for the team.

Is there a problem with taking that approach, save for DJ having fewer opportunities as back-up positions will be filled in Free Agency?

If you are asking about timing, they can release him in Feb and declare it a "post 6/1"

Is Tommy really drawing people to games in December when the team is 2-13?  I think he will be a draw for a few games.  If he has some success then yes I see people getting excited again, but if the defense doesn't win games for him (like last year) and his play is similar, I doubt anyone will be excited after 3 weeks.

I don't have a team in mind, just think he is going to get signed by a team with a solid starter that has big playoff aspirations for 2025.

Quote from: MightyGiants on November 18, 2024, 12:56:23 PMIn my opinion people obsess way to much over right and wrong to the detriment to quality conversation.

If the Giants go 0-7 in the last 7 games and Schoen and Daboll can't blame Daniel Jones, it would seem reasonable to believe that Mara and Tisch would have to consider if the team that assembled a 2-15 team 3 years after inheriting a 4-13 team that the leadership may not be capable of turning the ship around.

Rich,

I think that's a valid point.  I realize many are rooting for 2-15 and that's expected at this point.  Just not sure how this all shakes out in the locker room.

The idea that Daboll is definitely safe seems tenuous to me at best. If they go 1-6 over these last 7, what is that going to look like on the field?  While fans in some polls gave a positive vote for Daboll, it likely won't appear that way in the stadium if for instance, the Saints come into NJ and beat the Giants in a lopsided game.

Then you get into things like if other vets are going to be shut down which gets into things like contract bonuses potentially being missed.  Which then gets into some potential locker room issues.

I am not saying that I think either Daboll or Schoen is gone after the year, just that its not as simple as fair/unfair or vote of confidence after week 10.  A lot can and will happen over the next 7 weeks, not much is expected to be good.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: NGT: Bo Nix just threw for 4 tds

The progression he has made in year 1 is exactly what you want to see.

On another note, what a difference in the competitiveness of the divisions.  Atlanta is chasing and NFC South title, Denver isn't in the conversation for division title and it looked like they were playing against a JV squad.

It's the right move and the unofficial end to yet another disastrous season.

For those thinking about Devito winning "like last year", do you think the defense will start taking the ball away like last year when he was at the helm?  In his 3 victories the D had 12 takeaways. Maybe they have it in them.

Quote from: brownelvis54 on November 17, 2024, 08:11:40 PMAt this point, we should just get BPA in round 1 and get a QB in the 2nd round

What QBs do you think will be available in round 2 that you would want?

Quote from: Trench on November 17, 2024, 10:33:42 AMGood. Hyatt is better and cheaper. Slayton can't be trusted in big spots. He's also been a bit salty with his quotes in the past if I'm not mistaken.

He has defended Jones vociferously, those are the only quotes I know about, but I am sure not the only ones that exist.

I think if he goes to the right team he will have 1k+ yards, 8+ TDs and 17+ yards/catch.  It's not going to happen with the Giants though.

Overall I think he has been a good soldier and one of the best late round picks this team has seen in quite a while.

I guess this is open to interpretation.  My guess, Slayton is ready to move on from the Giants
