That's a damn fine list!

Adios, Jones! Should've happened years ago.

Benching the "franchise" QB. What a time to be alive.

Quote from: AZGiantFan on November 04, 2024, 11:57:00 AMActually their YTD points yielded is 25.2 and their last three games points yielded is 25.  What is strange about the Bengals is that they give up more than 30 PPG at home and less than 18 PPG on the road.

That's interesting. That awful game against Philadelphia skews the stat line a bit.

Cincinnati is starting to round into form. After a rough start that included some close losses (including games against Baltimore, New England, etc), they've started generating the offense we've come to expect.

Defensively, they had a lot of talent out early in the season that is now playing at a pretty damn good level.

Jones can't/won't throw the ball down the field. Watching him under throw receivers is painful.

To note: this is with/without Thomas in the lineup at LT.

Quote from: MightyGiants on October 25, 2024, 01:05:46 PMThe Eagles pulled starters, the Giants didn't.   Other than Jones, the Giants continued with their starters

Misread the post game stuff.

Regardless, one quarter is hardly enough to gauge a backup QB.

Quote from: MightyGiants on October 25, 2024, 12:37:37 PMI look at Drew Lock vs the Eagles.

First with the Seahawks (last season)-  QBR- 58.3  QB rating- 94.0

Then with the Giants-  QBR- 7.8  QB rating- 45.8

I think there is more wrong with this offense than the quarterback

The sample size is far too small to get a good feel for the situation. I'm not saying he needs Daniel Jones' leash (and six years of nonsense) but more than a handful of games?

Garbage time after Daboll pulled starters against Philly?

Seattle? He had some up and down play but did manage some good play out there (including that comeback win against Philly).

The QB play is skewing how the rest of the team is currently playing.

The team is league-average QB play away from having 1-3 more wins (Dallas, Washington, and/or Cincinnati).

Having a kicker that can hit FGs probably helps too.

Jones is a boat anchor that they can't get rid of due to the ever ongoing faith given to the Manning family (and their support of Jones).

Hopefully, they get a chance to push forward without Jones as Jones is not an NFL caliber starter.

How many coaches has Jones had? Shurmur, Judge, and now Daboll?

Quote from: TDToomer on October 20, 2024, 10:33:52 AMThat doesn't mean you should keep churning over and over when you can resign some of them and use the draft allocation at another position.

Given the value of the position? Unless they are a game-changing talent, it comes down to the schematic fit and what you can get in lieu of paying the safety. Don't get me wrong: I wish the Giants extended him (or Julian Love) before their values skyrocketed. Money allocated to Slayton could've been pushed to Love.

As for not prioritizing paying safeties: look at Landon Collins in Washington. Gibril Wilson did nothing when he left the Giants. Julian Love is playing well but is hardly a game breaking talent. If you want to look beyond the Giants, Jamal Adams is another bust.

Instead, the Giants prioritize obtaining higher value position targets (ala - Brian Burns).

FWIW: there's some gaps in here for guys I'm probably forgetting but:

2005: Giants draft Gibril Wilson
2008: Giants draft Kenny Phillips
2010: Giants sign Antrell Rolle (highest S contract in history at that point)
2015: Giants draft Landon Collins
2019: Giants draft Julian Love
2020: Giants draft Xavier McKinney
2024: Giants draft Tyler Nubin

Add in some FA finds like Jason Pinnock? This team does well with churning the safety position.

Until the QB position is sorted out, this team ain't going anywhere.

The team does possess a myriad of talent across the board. However, some of the early picks (Barkley, Jones, Neal, Thibs) didn't return the value you wanted from top 10 picks.

Brian Burns was ballin' last night.

God, last night was pathetic. Again, we saw the difference with a top end QB versus whatever you want to classify Jones as these days.

We'll keep seeing the excuses (or the most ardent Jones supporters MIA).
