Painter,

I'm not ready to give up on Schoen. But I wonder where John is on the subject.

I suppose that if he were to jump into another reset that would prove that he doesn't have the foresight to do something completely different this time.

In the end, all I really mean is that I'd like to see him pull way back and allow football people to run this franchise.

Holmgren didn't take on an expansion franchise and turn them into a championship contender. Tom did.

This is not just about a stats sheet. Holmgren is worthy and in fact proves that Tom is as well.

Painter,

All excellent points.

Here's one more suggestion.

How about if Mara asked for the help of someone not in his dusty old rolodesk?

Do a bit of research and find a true football mind.

Someone in Baltimore, Green Bay, Detroit, Minnesota, or even Pittsburgh.

The sad part about this is that we're all hoping for the number one overall as if they can't screw it up.

Recent history would suggest that finishing with a top pick offers very little to impact the roster.

I feel like before we worry about where they're picking, we need to worry about whether we have the right people in place to make the picks.

What we the fans need is for Mara to humble himself and literally ask for help.

I'm pretty sure that will never happen.

If by some miracle something similar happened, you find the brightest mind in the NFL, hand them the keys and contractually stay out of the way.

Let them build the front office, the personnel department, the scouting department, a draft czar, a training staff, a medical staff, and of course a Head Coach.

Start as if you're an expansion team. With this roster and our spot in the draft we pretty much are anyway.

Edit to add: part of the equation must be able to build a winning culture based upon trust and accountability. No more making excuses for players who show their backsides. This needs to be about winning and playing your part.

There are going to be teams clamoring for Hunter and Sanders.

We should trade down, stockpile picks, stay in the top and take the best available. If that happens to be Ward so be it.

We are still in REBUILD we cannot forget that.

I wish him good health and a prosperous happy life.

I don't wish him a career revival in the NFL. We're enough of a joke around the sports world. I'd prefer to throw this book away, I can't stomach reading anymore.

While you make a good point, I have to wonder if any of them were given a realistic chance to succeed.

For example I always believed that with the proper support, Shurmur would've developed into a very sold HC. In the way that Reeves was a solid HC.

When I ponder that I also consider that Mara destroyed whatever culture TC built and he hasn't proven that he knows how to hire a GM (perhaps because he secretly wants the job?) so the HC is moot at that point.

This franchise is in desperate need of an intervention.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Why Cant Giants Retain Top Players?

Because there is no culture in place and therefore no direction.

In large part because there is no autonomy below the ownership level to put a true plan in place and stick with it.

There are too many feelings involved. You cannot make solid business decisions when you allow feelings to get in the way.

Big Blue Huddle / Are they projecting?!
November 26, 2024, 02:01:08 PM
With DJ being demoted/released, DeVito banged up, the OL banged up AGAIN and light at true DB depth, have they gone full tank mode?!

Do they have their sights set on a rookie QB and positioning themselves to take him?

I don't see one worthy of being picked that high.
Do you?!

This is looking more and more disjointed by the day.

Yes Ed!

My biggest gripe with Schoen/Daboll is that it appears that they believe eating the Jones is who we're building around scenario, they never bothered to build a REAL QB ROOM.

It's almost as if they were either following marching orders to the T, or they mean to rub the QB  disaster in Mara's face because they believe they have a bogey this year and feel like the can finally start the rebuild.

Either way, we the fans are the ones paying for this mess!

To your point Woody from the first time he took the field as a Giants QB he was never a back-up, never asked to compete for his job, and until now, he was never benched.

This goes back to his rookie year.

With all due affection for such a nice, hard working kid;

How is it that he is suddenly such a marketable commodity after 6.5 seasons of achieving nearly nothing for the team he literally dreamed of playing for as a child?

He will always be an impressive person, he will also nothing more than a back-up Quarterback.

Am I missing something?

For those of you BB ain't nothin without TB.

Andy Reid was a slightly above average HC until they brought in Mahomes.

I don't believe either is true BTW

Rich, that is a very interesting POV. I get where that could indeed be the case.

I will always assert that Mara's insistence on taking care of Daniel who BTW wasn't selling any tickets on his own, is what ruined the opportunity to keep this rebuild on schedule.

In part by building around Barkley NOT as a RB but as an offensive weapon!
