Big Blue Huddle / Re: Evan Neal As A guard

Quote from: TDToomer on December 01, 2024, 08:38:20 PMSo we are going to yet let another good player go?

You referring to Van rotten ?

I hope we keep the week 1 starters intact .... The time they gave first portion of the season before Thomas went down is more  than enough for a good qb to play well

If we can get upgrades I'm all for it

But at a minimum keep the same starters and get a swing tackle unless Neal is that guy

Quote from: TDToomer on December 01, 2024, 08:42:12 PMYou make it sound like Golden was a bad player.

SUMMARY
Career

G         127
Sk        51.0 (11.5 in 23 games with us0
Solo      220
FF        11

I'm
Not saying he was bad I liked Golden

But that's like saying KT is bad ... last season he had a very Markus golden like season meanwhile being better against the run

Golden like KT got opportunistic sacks

If you tell me KT is Markus Golden + decent run defender ..... I think that's a win for us

Not the level of eliteness we wanted

But like I stated pass rushers are not easy to come by at all

IDK how this is even a question

Are we forgetting how long we went without pass rushers ?

Do we not remember when Oshane Ximenes, Injury prone azeez  and idk who else we plopped out there were our starters ? And Markus Golden of all people was our savior

KT may not be the best.. but Pass Rushers are obviously not easy to come by... he's good on run defense and he's already had a double digit sack season

KT hate is wasted energy when we have way bigger problems on this team

Quote from: Stringer Bell on December 01, 2024, 06:42:02 PMBoth Sanders and Ward are known for holding the ball too long and trying to make the hero play. That type of play will not fly in the NFL, and it is very difficult to re-wire their brains to react differently - especially with the NFL game moving much faster.

If they can get Ewers or Rourke in the 3rd round, they wouldn't be losing too much in the way of QB upside while being able to draft a blue chip guy like Hunter, Carter, or Johnson in the 1st.

I have seen and heard this with Ward.... But Sanders I don't think so... he throws a little weird but he gets the ball out

Jones while he was athletic and mobile AF ... he was not very fluid with his movement .... which is partially why I think he refuses to not be a one read QB... he cant naturally progress or make any kind of physically movement in one big movement .. I feel like he needs to reset his thought process and movement process when reading the field.... which is why 50% of the reason he took so many sacks... I'm not going to put all blame on him though because up until his year (When healthy) our line was extremely terrible.

Even then Sanders AND Ward do not hold onto to the ball as long as Jones does .... Even if Jones takes a vacation in the backfield I never feel comfortable that he wont be sacked

If we pick top 5 and Sanders and Ward are there ... I think you have to take one

Just like Lamar Jackson was overlooked I think these 2 can also be overlooked

To me the most important positions of need are

QB

DT

CB1

If you can guarantee me Arch Manning in 2025 then I agree... but that is not something I'm willing to risk

I think if we dont resign Van Rotten ... he should at least be given a shot at RG .... the tackle experiment is over ... see if he has a second life at Guard

Quote from: MightyGiants on November 29, 2024, 01:28:11 PMA few observations:

1) Not a single person can point to one thing Daboll does better than his coaching peers

2) It's the opposite of bias to take an evidence-based approach.  All available evidence disproves rather than supports the assertion that Mara forced Schoen and Daboll to sign DJ to a veteran contract

3) The Cowboys are more injured than the Giants and had a worse QB than the Giants.  Yet, the roster that Schoen spent 3 years building still lost the the Cowboys

Daboll once won COTY

So At least once in his short career he was considered better than ALL of his peers

What does Daboll do better than other coaches?

Idk ....

His playcalling isn't perfect .... But it also isn't as bad as some make it out to be

Replace his qb this season with almost anyone of the top 20 qbs in the league and his job doesn't even come to question

Quote from: Giantleap56 on November 28, 2024, 10:20:09 PMAbsolutely no. I can't deal with this regime. They have made worse than then the Gettleman teams. These guys are trash. And Daboll is not damn QB whisperer or guru.

It's not all on him though

Last year Jones was pretty bad the what 6 games he played ?

Then this season he couldn't figure it out even when the o-line was playing well

Let's be real here .... If we had a top 12 qb and were to score idk maybe 30 points from time to time we wouldn't even be having this convo

Yes dabs has made some bad calls

But I can bet you he's made some more calls that were good to great that just weren't executed properly

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Nabers on his drops
November 28, 2024, 10:17:51 PM
Quote from: katkavage on November 28, 2024, 09:26:49 PMThe mistake isn't Nabers. The mistake was taking a receiver before you had a QB. They should have drafted JJ or Penix or Nix. With Nabers they are 2-10 and need a QB next year. He does nothing for them until the QB is in place.

Well the reality is they still believed Jones could have been that QB now with a legit WR

Good thing for us .... We may now be getting a QB this draft and we already have his #1 wr

Bears got Caleb and Odunze ....i kind of look at like that's what we are doing just spread over 2 years

Nabers may come with Drama .... But he's still a rookie hopefully the drops get corrected

But I'm done taking too much stock into one's attitude

If anything Nabers being mad and continue to want the ball even after drops may be a sign that he wants to win games

Big Blue Huddle / Give Dabs another season or 2
November 28, 2024, 10:11:29 PM
Look I been a Jones defender his whole career but he was not Dabs QB

Whatever you feel about the last 2 seasons ... season 1 dabs knew what he had on the team and he was a big part Jones got that Contract ....

Jones imo earned a contract ... he had a good season ..... mainly because of his legs and dabs knew how to scheme on Jones

But the league figured out Jones and he tore his ACL ... he never got back to 2022 Jones

He still had his favorite receiver (Slayton) and Nabers to utilize this season ..... and he had the most time in the pocket ever when the o-line was healthy.... But the guy couldn't capitalize

Dabs got COTY for a reason ....his playcalling from game 1 (going for 2 and the win) got us in the playoffs that year

I don't agree with giving him the boot after this season especially when its an obvious tank job

We have a decent foundation on this team .... And as much as I loved Jones he was the one holding us back this season

No excuse why we couldn't score more than 20 points a game especially after realizing Tracy is a formidable rb....

Hyatt may be a certified bust now .... But Nabers is talented ... and Slayton and Wandale can be a decent #2 and 3

Defensively we obviously need a CB1 and let Banks be CB2 .... We have Dru in slot and Nubin at safety .....LB corps is decent ... and while Burns and Thibs may be somewhat disappointing .... More than half the league would love our setup on the front 7

Once again we have a foundation to work with .... Theo Johnson,Tracy , Nabers + top 3 rookie QB

HEALTHY O-line and maybe an upgrade somewhere this offseason .... We def need help on run defense

But to me the Dabs hate is wild ....saw some people today mad at the pick 6... that was 100% on Lock .... He lobs it softly like any qb would do and we gain 10-50 yards on that play .... He literally put it where only the defender could get it

I'm all for giving dabs , Bowen and Schoen one more season (or 2) to work with their guy
