Big Blue Huddle / Re: Andrew Thomas out indefinitely

Great... a Lisfranc injury... One of the worst you can have on your foot.

And it's doubtful how AT will recover from it, because if there is one injury you don't want to have it's this one.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Daniel Jones Final Stats
October 07, 2024, 10:42:52 AM
I was surprised with the offense overall yesterday, positively, obviously.

When I heard that Singletary and Nabers were both out I thought we'd be in for a treat, but the offensive line really stepped up, giving Jones enough time to do his job, and equally playing well to create the gaps the Backs could hit and run downfield with.

Not so pleased with the fumbles recently obviously... we need to get rid of those.

Quote from: Trench on October 06, 2024, 05:40:25 PMI wish he went to him a little more. Same as I wish he went to Nabers a little less.

Why can't he find a happy medium for both players?

I have a hunch that after this week, they'll balance the offense a little more.

They have seen how this can work either way.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: 3rd down, Slayton vs Won'Dale

Quote from: MightyGiants on October 07, 2024, 09:17:59 AMThrow in two critical drops by Nabers, and I would argue, but for the drops, the Giants would have a winning record.

I agree. But drops are part of the Business, unfortunately.

And in the end, I'd rather have a drop from Nabers who is a Rookie, than Slayton who's been in the League for a couple of years now and should know how this works.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: What happened to Watson?

Quote from: kingm56 on September 23, 2024, 02:08:57 PMThat's fair, Ted; however, as someone who's watched Watson over the years, he has lost his zip.  He simply doesn't have the arm strength or running twitch from three years ago.

Sitting out a year or so surely didn't do him any good.

Quote from: Bob In PA on September 23, 2024, 02:01:17 PMJust hoping for zero fumbles on Thursday.

Our roster stinks compared to Cowboys (IMO).

We can't beat them if we give up any fumbles or pick-sixes.

Bob

I agree. If you want to beat the Cowboys, you need a perfect game on all fronts.
Otherwise you'll be penalized for the mistakes you do - the Cowboys are not a team that doesn't take advantage of the opportunities they get.

Thinking about this logically, here's what my feelings are towards the Barkley situation:

1. He was always saying he wanted to be a Giant for life.
2. Did the Giants poker a bit too high on this? Probably yes.
3. He went and hit the Market - and came back with a good offer for himself which the Giants RIGHTFULLY didn't want to match.
4. I still think that how the situation unfolded, the statement that he wanted to be a Giant for life is probably inaccurate and an empty promise in the end - because if he really wanted to be a Giant for life, he would've stayed for less money. Ofc, the statement "it's a Business" is always going to be the one said in the end when a deal doesn't get done. But the Giants had one need and direction (right or not is another story), Barkley another.
5. That Barkley chose the Eagles is a shame. He had multiple offers, and if he wanted, I am sure he could've gotten the same somewhere else. That one's on him.

Do I wish Barkley not to succeed? I have no feelings about this. He still played for us, has been the face of the Franchise for years, but in the end it went to the wrong side.

Do I wish the Eagles to be bad? Oh absolutely. But that's probably a different animal and there's a lot more history to that.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Eli Manning eligible for the HoF
September 19, 2024, 05:20:59 AM
Quote from: kingm56 on September 18, 2024, 04:22:30 PMEli will "compete" against 166 other members for the right to wear the Gold Jacket; Initially, I thought it would take him two or three chances to get in to the Hall.  However, he appears to be best of the modern QBs eligible. If the committee selects a single QB, I believe it's Eli:

QUARTERBACKS (10): Marc Bulger, Randall Cunningham, Jake Delhomme, Doug Flutie, Rich Gannon, Jeff Garcia, Donovan McNabb, Eli Manning, Steve McNair, Tony Romo.

https://www.profootballhof.com/news/2024/09/167-modern-era-players-nominated-for-pro-football-hall-of-fame-class-of-2025/

McNair will probably make it in.

Other than that, I see no reason why Eli shouldn't be voted, based on his competition on this position.

Quote from: JT39 on September 16, 2024, 06:43:09 PMDan,

Daniel Jones played well above what he needed to do to win. Some fans have a hard enough time to admit when he plays well.

6 drives that led to :

3 TDs
One fumble by our RB
One drop by our best player on fourth down
One three and out.

I am not sure what else he was suppose to do. But no turnovers, 1 sack, and constantly moving the ball is pretty much a successful day.

I agree, this one isn't on DJ.

This one is on the staff for not elevating a Kicker from the PS to cover off for Gano, and on the D where they let the opponent hit its own Red Zone on pretty much every drive they had (eventough they kept them out of the End Zone).
Generally, I think those were the main reasons why the Giants lost and didn't win.

Quote from: H-Town G-Fan on September 17, 2024, 12:14:07 AMBone-headed playcalling. Run the ball. Eat 40 seconds and maybe get the first down and end it.

For the Eagles having invested heavily in that defensive line in the draft the past few years, there was zero push from those interior players. Cousins is a very limited mobility QB right now and they rarely made him move around.

Nick Sirianni is the purest definition of arrogance.

How to mentally break a young QB.

I'd started Dalton and brought Young in slowly.

Based on where he had the ice bag, I'd say it was a Hamstring Tendom tear.

That's a 6-8 weeks injury at best.

Seems all the good shows being released are being dropped like a drop of water from a dripping faucet. I've been spoiled...if I watch a show and there's another episode, I want to watch it when I feel like it. I guess it's far better than when I was young and there was no such thing as a VCR...if you missed the show, you missed it and that was all there was to it

Other great shows that are being released right now via the drip method: Only Murders in the Building (Hulu), and Bad Monkey (Apple+)

Nice one.. I loved the first season of it. Looking forward to see the second one.

Episode 1 was quite interesting...
