I only sleep 2-3 hours a night so I up no later than 2AM.  I have Direct TV and with a million channels, you would think there is something to watch.  Not so much. So I have reverted to old classic TV shows.  Perry Mason and Murder She Wrote.

The stories are what they are, but the cast of characters amaze me. This week I have seen Leonard Nimoy and Robert Redford on Perry Mason.  Murder She Wrote has had numerous big name actors from the 60's and 70 on it.

In the 80's when I was stationed in Greece, a buddy and I rented motorcycles for a ride north from Athens along the coast.  We stopped at a small restaurant. We knew enough Greek to order a beer, say hello and goodbye  and ask for the bathroom. We ordered the Octopus, they asked how many we said 2.  10 minutes later we each had 2, 6 foot tentacles on a plate in front of us.  Most disgusting thing I have ever eaten.

You're so right, philo! =D> =D> =D>  My thinking cap has been all screwed up these past couple of months that your comments sailed right over my head.  GREAT answer tough, after your translation.  A real classic movie!

No problem Jim, I knew the answer right away, but was trying to be circumspect to allow some one else to answer by giving vague clues

NOT even close!

Come on Jim,

Maltese Falcon - Bogart as Sam Spade - island is Malta - Bird is Falcon.

"And when Sam Spade says that the Maltese Falcon is "the stuff that dreams are made of," he's alluding to the fact that it's insubstantial (it's worthless, after all) and to the fact that everywhere the Maltese Falcon goes, death follows it."

HUGE SOFTBALL:

"What is it?

"The, uh, stuff that dreams are made of."

The movie is named after an island in the Mediterranean and a hunting bird

Classic line at the end of a movie

"They have been decaffeinated"

Since no one took a shot - Danny Glover at the end of Lethal Weapon 2 - when asked by Mel Gibson what happened to the South African diplomat, who used the term Kaffir about Glover.

Right here in TEXAS!
Actually, I like BBQ anywhere, but I think living here you're contractually obliged to brag on it.

At home I love smoking ribs and just throwing some burgers on the grill

Ozzie,

My second trip to your area in 1988, my wife's grandfather took me for a ride.  They lived in downtown Garland near the feed store, by the Railroad tracks.  He took off on back roads headed in the general direction of Sachse / Wylie.  He then tuned onto a dirt path and drove up about half a mile to a 2 stall cinder block garage.  He grabbed a couple of  brown paper bags from the person outside and left.

Best BBQ I have ever had!!!!

Mighty,

I have stayed completely out of this thread, because you and I are toxic.  However I am going to post to hopefully make you take a step back and realize how you make everything political.  These are some of your replies from just the 1st 3 pages of this thread.

I think perspective and context has a lot to do with this.

I joined the Army in 1980 at the age of 22.  I was fortunate enough to have lived in many different areas of the country. Overseas Greece - great place, Korea - sucked, Panama - sucked.  Colorado - great place, Tacoma WA - great place, South Carolina - ok, Ft Campbell KY - very good, Dallas area when I got out - sucks being a Giants fan and the Philadelphia area - where it really sucked being a Giants fan.

I moved back to my hometown of Binghamton in 2001.  There a lot of other people my age that moved away in their 20's after college or whatever, that are now moving back. That is why I mentioned perspective and context.

So to answer the question - right where I am.

People that have been here their whole lives can't wait to move away, yet those of us that did many are returning.

The Front Porch / Andrew Cuomo

This is not to be a political topic, rather an sad commentary on how politicians (both sides) have become a  legend in their own minds - From Trump tweets to this latest from Cuomo.

https://www.pressconnects.com/story/news/politics/albany/2021/05/13/cuomo-sexual-harassment-scandal-uncomfortable/5078970001/

Cuomo criticized for saying, 'Harassment is not making someone feel uncomfortable.'

"ALBANY - Gov. Andrew Cuomo drew a new round of criticism Thursday for arguing that simply making comments that made someone feel uncomfortable should not be viewed as harassment.

The comments came after Cuomo was asked by a reporter about him seemingly shifting between being apologetic toward women who have claimed he sexually harassed them and being defiant that he did nothing wrong."

.....

"Harassment is not making someone feel uncomfortable," Cuomo said Thursday when asked if his initial apologies are at odds with his recent contention he did not act inappropriately.

"That is not harassment. If I just made you feel uncomfortable, that is not harassment. That

I have a different perspective.

My dad passed away last Thursday at 92, late in the afternoon,  he and my mom were married 71 years when he passed. They had arguments, but they had figured out how to get through them, usually not lasting more than 24 hours - they never allowed each other to "drift" away. If one thought the other was, they would start a conversation to talk about it.  They were / are both deeply religious, so maybe that had something to do with it.

My oldest brother just celebrated his 44 anniversary last month.

My middle brother will celebrate his 41st anniversary in Oct

My wife and I (second marriage for both) will celebrate our 33rd in Oct. Both of our 1st marriages lasted less than 2 years for various reasons.

None of the 3 of us are very religious, but I think we all learned through osmosis, how to deal with with the trials of a marriage.

I think that over time, it is the two people that are not truly invested in each other that leads to the divorce.

Rich,

Trying to be friendly here - do you realize how much you use "right wing propaganda" in your replies. The minute you impose that term, readers eyes glaze over and really don't read the rest of your post.  At that point you have already stated you are not willing to listen or read.

The best example I can give you is if your wife, girlfriend or significant other asks you "does this outfit make me look fat?" The reply is "no, but" as soon as the but comes out of the mouth everything else is ignored.

Do yourself a favor and lose the term.
