The Giants are freed from the last remaining mistake of the Gettleman era. It took way longer than it should have. Good luck to DJ, but I am more than ready to move on.

I found their run defense to be pretty much equal. I also noticed that Ojulari, subbing for Thibs, actually moves guys when he hits them.

I didn't consider him a sideshow when he won more games as a starter than either of our other two quarterbacks. But if he wants to focus more on football than he did last season, I have no complaints about that either.

Losing team remains unhappy with losing.

Safe to say that as soon as Devito wins one game (IF he wins one game) these alleged concerns about how Daniel Jones was "handled" will evaporate like water spilled in a desert.

It's not really about swagger for me. I wouldn't mind our players showing more spirit on the field, as long as they're actually backing it up of course.

But in Shedeur's case he could be a total saint and his father would still be a liability, trying to "help" at every turn and trailing a media circus behind him. The guy's a weapon of mass distraction.

Errrrrr, yeah, that is not where I would be scouting players, quarterback especially.

Deion Sanders would be absolute poison to this organization. And it goes without saying that if you draft his kid, you're also signing up for a fatal dose of him.

No thanks.

I wouldn't be so quick to thank us if I were them.

Chances are they'll win as many Super Bowls with Saquon as we did.

When I see results like this, I can't help but think of my speculation that Schoen and Daboll keep starting Daniel Jones because he becomes the focus of almost all the criticism and gives them cover.

Objectively, a head coach who won only 6 out of 17 games last season and is on pace to win only 3 or 4 out of 17 games this season wouldn't normally get the high level (at least, I think it's quite high) of support from the fanbase.  Even Schoen, in light of only 1 good draft out of three and 2 consecutive losing seasons, is enjoying a rather impressive level of fan support.
I agree. Jones does objectively stink, but Schoen and Daboll tethered themselves to him with that contract--when they didn't have to--and are now using his smell to cover their own.

Someone who doesn't mind a creepy, meddling 80-something owner who's slowly losing his grip.

Mara doesn't want to see it.

My problem with Daboll is not that he limits his playbook to the ever-shortening list of things Daniel Jones can do well. It's his poor in-game decision making, and the fact that he tied himself to Jones after that first year when he didn't have to. I don't trust his judgment anymore.

Yes and yes.

Quote from: miss86 on October 23, 2024, 11:10:13 PMBB as our HC? Are you people smoking something else than tobacco?
Yes. We're smoking ten losing seasons in the last twelve years and we're sick of the taste.

Belichick is an old grouch but even if you take Brady out of the equation, he had winning seasons with Matt Cassell and Mac Jones. He went 7-9 with a washed Cam Newton. That's coaching on a higher level than anything we're accustomed to.

Quote from: Fletch on October 24, 2024, 10:43:54 AMIt's really strange to think the Tom Coughlin got fired -- and I have to say -- it was not without some justification. It really seemed like the team lost some discipline and I remember them losing so many games in like the last 2 minutes.

The 2012 team was 9-7 and missed the playoffs and, that was regarded as a big disppointment. But now it has just become the acceptance that they totally suck.

The only reason Shoen and Daboll are getting this long leash is because  they fired so many coaches in such a short o period of time; not because either is any good.
Our standards have plummeted for sure. Jerry Reese... SMH. That guy couldn't draft either. Being saddled with his busts was what really put the nail in Tom's coff(l)in IMO.

Puns aside... Schoen has hit on some late-rounders, but 1st and 2nd are a different story. Neal is shaping up to be an Ereck Flowers-level bust (albeit with a better attitude). Thibs offers so little strength at EDGE that our defense improved when we lost him. Hyatt can't run routes. JMS... I still hold out hope for him but he had a rough start.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Daboll and the play calling

I'm out of excuses for Daboll. He can't call plays, and he tethered himself to a coach-killer quarterback when he didn't have to. Ready to move on.
