Giants History / Re: Eli Manning appreciation thread

Eli was one of the all time great Giants in my opinion. Class
all the way. Tough, reliable and dependable. It is bitter sweet for me to as it is time to move to Daniel Jones it also is a time to thank Eli for coming to the Giants and being our QB all these years.

Chalk Talk / Re: BBH Podcast With Patricia Traina

Ed,

Thank you very much for the pod cast with Patty. Very good information. Were you ever in radio business? You did a good job. Patty is very good as well. She calls it like she sees it which is great. Hopefully we will hear a few more podcasts with Pat and you with some better play of the Giants.

I am going with Doug Marrone.  The more I think about this, the more I like it.

TC has had his run and we all appreciate the two SB wins....I will try to be brief.....

His coaching style does not fit todays NFL. The latest collective bargaining agreement really put a crimp on his coaching style and preparation methods for the football season. And , myself being a retired manger of young people , I know it is not easy to relate and motivate the young people (21-30 year olds) in any work environment especially some of the spoiled athletes in todays NFL.
This will be the fourth season in a row that the team has not made the playoffs and really does not seem to be getting any better. Same old excuses from the the team, too many injuries  etc. but the bottom line is poor play with no positive results at the end of the year.
Reece , Coughlin, Fewell, Spags, Macadoo, Gilbride  whomever the names are things are not changing. Is Coughlin a bad coach , no. Are all these problems over the past few years his fault, no. Is there a better coach out there? Maybe ,maybe not ....but I really think it is time for the Giants to find out for themselves if there is someone that can change things up. Can things turnaround quickly , absolutely in the NFL today it is possible.
But I am afraid , that if changes are not made this off season , then why should we expect anything different than what has happened from the past 4 years , next year ?
In my opinion, changes need to be made after the season is over, and I hope it is done with class and dignity for all effected , especially, in regards to Tom Coughlin.

Exactly, I couldn't agree with you more. It is too bad things have come to this as it needs to handled swiftly and with class once the season is over.

Shocking news. Enjoyed seeing a lot of film of Mr. Gifford playing for the Giants. I enjoyed watching Mr. Gifford on ABC's Wild World of Sports and I do miss the team of Gifford, Michael's, and Dierdorf on ABC Monday Night Football. Heavens gain is our loss. RIP Mr. Gifford. My prayers go out to the Gifford family. Just a sad day finding this out.

Jintsman, you, like a lot of you younger fans, missed a real treat in not seeing Gifford play.

I've watched a number of TV news reports on his death & all of them have shown highlight plays from his career.  The one I never get tired of watching is his throwing a TD pass to Bob Schnelker on a snow covered Yankee Stadium in the last regular game of the 1958 season.  It tied up the game 10 - 10 and later Pat Summerall kicked the famous 50 yard FG to win it 13 - 10.  The Giants then beat the Browns again, 10 - 0 in a playoff.  I'll end it right there.  The following week's game still sticks in my craw.

I certainly did miss out on a great era in NY Giants history with great Giants and none better than Mr. Gifford.

Never doubt who we have leading us into 2015.  The coaching leadership we have is without compare.  Time does not pass this man by, it just intensifies the already concrete resolve to winning.

Whatever problems the New York Giants may have.....our Head Coach is not it.

Don't know how long this link will be active, but enjoy it while you can.

I also want to thank you for posting this. I had only saw bits of this prior but I looked at this before going to bed last night. I would also suggest reading the book "Parcells" that came out in during fall of last year. It also has good information about Coughlin's time as the wide receivers coach and his relationship with Bill Parcells.

Excellent video about coach Coughlin, I came away with a new appreciation for him. Sure he does not have the personality of Parcells, but he is loyal and doesn't have the huge ego that Bill had. I too believe there is one more Suoer Bowl in coach Coughlin and Eli that will cement their legacy forever in Canton. I will truly miss both of them when they are gone.

BBH Archive / Re: Predict the season

I had been pretty good predicting the Giants record the past couple of years but this year I am having a very hard time.  I believe the NFC East is once again a weak division. If the Giants could go at least 4-2 in the division I can see them either 8-8 or 9-7. However, if the offensive and defensives lines along Eli, his receivers and the new offense can't get it together and then I wouldn't be shocked to see 6-10. I don't feel good about the 2014 Giants.
