Big Blue Huddle / Re: Trey Lance Anyone?

Why do we want another QB who can't play QB? How about getting a QB that can play QB?

Fine, I'll take the JJM, Bo Nix, or Penix equivalents. Better than what we have now, and cost efficient.

Daboll throws the ball down the field. He did so in Buffalo and he has continually brought this up as something he challenges Jones to do. However Jones can't. He continually gets confused and checks down, or is inaccurate when he does try to throw it. So what can Daboll do? He adjust the gameplan to try and deal with DJ's limitations and still win. How many times have we heard the announcers say that the Giants have receivers open after DJ checks down?

Just because DJ sucks and can't execute the complete gameplan doesn't seem to me like Dabolls fault. He is trying to win with what he has.

PFF sucks at rating QB play

Until Jones goes you can keep changing HC's all you want, nothing will change. The D will still crowd the LOS, stop the run and short stuff, and force Jones to go deeper. Jones can't. They will also disguise coverages confusing DJ due to his slow recognition and forcing constant check downs. We won't score points, and the team will yearly lose confidence

Quote from: LennG on November 03, 2024, 08:06:08 PMYou know, if this team were winning I truly believe this defense would be playoff quality.
Players get discouraged losing and losing and still losing. That is the culture on this team.

If we were winning games this defense would play much better.

I believe this too. Jones needs to go, his play is infecting the whole team. No one, including the players, has any confidence he can get it done.

The funny thing (or sad thing) is that Daboll gave more praise to 1sy year QB Daniels in his presser than he every did to DJ. All he ever says about DJ is how hard he works, which in itself is telling. Its the QB equivalent of "she's got a nice personality".

I think their talent is very overrated. The OL is mediocre, and Rodgers is a shell of himself. Plus it looks like they can be run on. Obviously at 2-5, against a weak schedule, they are no where near advertised. In fact right now they would draft ahead of us because of their weaker schedule. Next season they will have no QB after Rodgers retires, and no HC. Its ridiculous, or pathetic (one or the other) that Woody thinks this is the most talented team he has every had.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Pats to start Maye

I thought Maye played well. 60%, 250 yds or so, 3 TDs. This was his first start, leading an overmatched team, against a good defense. When was the last time we had a QB throw 3 TDs?

According to Mel Kiper, almost all of the top 5 QBs should still be there. At least 3 of the top 5.

Quote from: Woody on October 14, 2024, 09:57:24 AMSeriously the defender made a great play on the ball.   He was closely guarded by defender because the whole league knows that is the play they use in that situation. Ball was thrown good he was not wide open

I don't think this is the point. Jones had Robinson wide open 5 yds farther down the field and would likely had gotten a 10-20 yd reception. Instead Jones locked on to his 5 yd Slayton slant (as usual) and tried to jamb the ball into really tight coverage. He just sucks

WE would have won last night with almost any other QB in the league, including the rookie QBS. Drake Maye, vs Houston who is much better than Cincy, in his first start with no WRs of note, threw for 3 TDS, 250 yds, and 60% completions. Jones in a huge game, at home, vs a crappy D, in his 6th year, goes for 53% completions, a whopping 205 yds (most of which were given by the D playing back), 0 TDs, and a horrible horrible Int that likely cost us the game.

Texas kills OU
Ole Miss looks good so far, beating LSU by 10
Florida ahead of Tennessee, good game for FL so far

Ewers has sucked by Texas is still probably blowing OU out. 21-3 at the half and should be much worse. Makes you wonder how good Ewers is

Plus now OU is starting a freshman at QB instead of Arnold, I guess they plan on running the QB a lot. So who knows what will happen.
