In the case of Barkley I think he's likely very surprised about the response. He was the face of the team and mostly the only reason to watch the team. NFL fans are unforgiving even when there is a reason that greatness falters. I feel like Barkley gave absolutely everything he had. The injuries? Not his fault and his own health and career are compromised because he did it FOR US. Still, going to the Eagles? Ouch. I'm appreciative of what he did for us and won't harshly criticize him, but a little humility about being on the Eagles would go a long way for NYG fans.

We're all really tired of the OL being awful and it sucks to have missed on some FA OL in the past AND to live with the likelihood that Neal isn't going to make it at RT. I like the FA OL they got this year, but I've said that before. Still, I think given where they were at 6 and the fact that they couldn't trade to move into a spot to get Maye, I'm 100% on board with taking Nabers there. We still have to face QB reality, but they obviously didn't have conviction on McCarthy. I would not have taken Alt at 6.

We'll see how it shakes out, but I think Singletary can carry his own. Tracy is intriguing, but who knows. Gray is largely unknown. I bet we add somebody else, but it's not an overwhelming group. We'll see.

I'm as frustrated with the o line over the last decade as anybody, but I feel like they did do their best to address this in free agency. I was hoping for an IOL at some point and we could have grabbed Beebe instead of Nubin. We'll see how that turns out 2 times a year since the Cowboys got Beebe. I'm tired too of trying to feel hopeful about an o line that continually blows, but there's a long list of mistakes made over the past decade that got us here. At some point, we simply have to hit on the o line coach and the pieces we've brought in. No injuries would be nice too.

An effort made to get Maye. Clearly they did not have a high enough opinion on McCarthy or other options such as Nix, Penix. Given that, you get yourself what appears to be an incredibly talented WR who can turn routine plays into big gains. Sets us up for when we are able to address QB and gives Jones another no-excuses season.

They played the board the best they could and seem to have gone with need/value. The Devito wins put us in a spot where getting a franchise-changing QB wasn't possible. Given that, they seem to have grabbed the best players available who also met a need. Truth is that there is need at just about every spot even if just for depth. A solid draft with no overthinking. Calmly took what was there and it at least feels like the scouting, pre draft process is run by grownups.

I like the direction. Feels like there continues to be a plan, but we simply have too many holes and are too thin. Free agency and the draft were good. An injury or two again and we will struggle. We have too far to go and still have not closed the gap in the NFC East. This team is improving and I'm optimistic about the long haul over the next couple of seasons.
