Quote from: Jclayton92 on November 14, 2024, 03:27:56 PMName a hot candidate that could replace Daboll right now that isn't Ben Johnson?

I'm not as down on Schoen and Daboll as everyone else. What has schoen failed at? Not trading Mckinney and Barkley? Besides that I think he's done well, and Daboll is a great coach imo. A qb that teammates believe can win lifts all tides. Everyone will play better knowing we can win, with Jones they know the result. With an average qb this is a 9 win team easy. Being anemic at qb causes the whole offense problems and the defense. I think you have to give them a chance with anyone but Jones.

" Daboll is a great coach " . Can you explain your opinion please ? Daboll might fall into the Bill Arnsbarger syndrome- an excellent coordinator but a poor head coach.

Would love Ben Johnson , but he is not coming here if anywhere. Also, do not know if he would be an excellent HC. Everyone is looking for the next Sean McVay or Kyle Shanahan , but Daboll is not one of them.

I do have trouble thinking of a coach to replace Daboll. The only one that came to mind might be Mike Vrabel

Quote from: sxdxca38 on November 12, 2024, 11:26:26 PMI just finished watching Joe Schoen's presser.

He said they are 1-5 in one score games, so they have to play better, and that they are not that far off.

What scares me is he said they are going to figure out what they need to do to win these next seven games.

If by chance they do start to play better and win a few games, that is going to destroy their chances of getting the #1 pick in the draft.

I think realistically when your 2-8, at this point you're not making the playoffs, so just tank the season and please go and get the best player in the draft when you have the chance.

The last thing they need is to win some meaningless games and put them out of contention of securing the #1 pick, but that is my opinion.

While it would nice to snare the top draft pick , you do not tank. These are professional athletes whose jobs are on the line . You go out and play the best that you can and if you win somev games sobeit What is your solution , bring up the entire practice squad and play them ?

Big Blue Huddle / Arch Manning
November 11, 2024, 04:30:49 PM
I have read some posters , not on this forum , say the Giants should sign a holdover QB next year and draft Arch Manning in 2026. Do people really think he is the second coming of Eli or Peyton ? He has played one full game against University Louisiana Monroe . Might he become a HOF QB who knows. But to wait until 2026 is totally foolish

Quote from: Philosophers on November 11, 2024, 06:48:04 AMI would pay a HC with an proven NFL record $15 million per but not an OC.  Too many unknowns.

You pay what you have to pay . Is Juan Soto worth $70 million a year . NO !!!  But that is what it might take to sign him.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on November 11, 2024, 12:55:58 AMKid works hard, Tom Brady has been training the kid since middle school. Does he make a lot of commercials, and ads with his dad yes, but now everyone that age does social media etc. Remember when everyone thought Thibs was going to be a problem because he did socials, and was outspoken, or Nabers with his stuff. Both have been model citizens so far besides an over blown concert. If the kid has game we need him.

For the record regarding Qbs-

Cam Ward has issues, kid holds the ball waaayyyy to long for me and I dont think he processes the field fast enough. Compared to last years Qbs he would be somewhere in that JJ Mccarthy/Penix range.

Sheddur Sanders currently by far the best Qb prospect but not the best Qb in college.

Carson Beck is a flop, he broke like Daniel Jones and there is no fixing him. Guy went from 1st overall pick to late 3rd/4th range.

Jaxson Dart is the best Qb in college right now, and all the stats back that up. The best college Qb might not be the best pro prospect. I think he has the best back shoulder throw in college, isn't scared to go deep, intermediate, or just take off. The big hang up for most is him playing in a lane kiffin offense.

Quinn Ewers is an Enigma, some times he looks amazing, and other times he doesn't.

Jalen Milroe has been elite at times, and just good at other times. He's just an elite athlete that happens to play Qb kinda like Lamar.

Completely fine with selling the number 1 or 2 pick for a kings ransom, and then sign a vet, and go all in for next year.

I'd also be on bored with trading our top pick for a ransom and drafting one of the qbs that falls to the 2nd like Milroe or maybe Dart late 2nd early 3rd while you save assets. Then in a year if they hit like Lamar, Hurts etc or if it doesn't hit you still roll into next offseason with the opportunity to get your guy, with all the assets.

In 2023 the Panthers gave up DL Moore, 2 First round picks, 2 second round picks and a fourth round pick. to draft Bryce Young .I do not remember the number  where the Panthers were drafting that year. I guess that was a ," ransom" You only get that for a QB , no other position. I do not know whether Sanders, Ward or any other QB in next year's draft is worth that to a team that is looking for a QB.  Your thoughts .

Quote from: Jclayton92 on November 11, 2024, 12:31:23 AMHe was the hottest candidate last year as well. There was a race to sign him but he told all the teams he wanted 15 million a year. His agent tried to say it wasnt true. There is a reason every team passed, I mean the Panthers took a nobody, and the seahawks took a guy that was a year removed from being the DC at Michigan to be their HCs.

Jerry Jones would probably pay him

Big Blue Huddle / Ben Johnson
November 10, 2024, 08:44:36 PM
I know that this will most likely never happen but I can dream a little . Somehow , I don't know how, it could be conveyed to Ben Johnson that we want him to be our HC next year. We will have a top pick to get a new QB , we have some talented players  and money for free agents.

Unfortunately in my opinion Ben Johnson will be the next head cosach of the Dallas Cowboys next year.

Daboll is not the guy to lead us to a playoff.

Big Blue Huddle / Bobby Johnson
November 06, 2024, 07:18:05 PM
The Giants fired Bobby Johnson because of poor performance by the OL and poor player development . Now Johnson is the OL Coach for The Commanders and they have one of the best pass protection and Pass blocking lines in the NFL.

What does that ytell you ?

With all the personal being the same EXCEPT that Daniel Jones quarterbacked behind the Lions offensive line and Ben Johnson was his OC , how good a QB would he be ?

I do not see that order holding up on draft day. I am not a QB pundit by any means . I am just an oberfer of college football. In my opinion, which is worth or worthless like anyone elses , right now the only 2 QBs who might , and I emphasize MIGHT , be considered a franchise type QB are Sanders and Ward . Maybe others will emerge and obviously the scouts know much more than I do

The obvious and by far the best choice for the next HC of the Giants is Ben Johnson. Unfortuately he probably would never come here especially with the QB uncertainty. If Dallas does not make the playoffs or loses early , Johnson would be obvioius choice for the next Cowboy HC.
